I hope he’s okay and gets the support he needs with whatever he is going through.

My guess is mental health. He’s been super hard on himself all year, and not just in regards to his play on the ice. It sounds dumb, but you can tell by the way he carries himself (walking, interacting with fans/players/whoever, etc.). He’s always had a dry sense of humor and has seemed “awkward”, but this is something more.

Hope he gets the help he needs and is able to play soon and enjoy it.

this is a great reminder that athletes are human and can see the nasty shit people say about them online

Get the help you need big man. Hate he’s had such a rough couple years.

For reference, the Player Assistance Program is there to give players access to counseling/resources for various things including mental health concerns.

Here’s to wishing Patty the best. While we may never know the full extent of things, he made the big decision to get the help he needs. Kudos to him for that

The 5th Line is pulling for you, brother.

  7. Hasn’t looked same since the concussion, I won’t be surprised if he being evaluated for TBI.

  8. hardlyindestructible

Good for him for utilizing the tools at his disposal. It’s all too often we suffer in silence and normalizing seeking care (whether preventative, maintenance or otherwise) is so important. ❤️

i love this guy and i hope everything gets sorted out. the nhl is better when patty snipe show is on the loose <3 <3 <3

Happy that he’s getting help. He’s had such bad luck with injuries, and to add that on top of everything he’s dealt with away from the rink must be extremely difficult.

Hoping that he can come back strong, whenever that may be.

Takes balls to accept going into a program like this publicly. Hopefully everything works out for him.

Hockey will always be here when he gets back.

  12. P-Rickles

He’s got to be going through hell with the injuries. I hope he gets better.

  13. Maybe still concussion related. If you can’t sleep for weeks you end up in a spiral that lead you to anything.

He looked bad on Wednesday, never thought it was this bad.

Wonder if he took a year and spent it back home ALA Tex would be good for him? I was lucky (in a sense) my globe trotting was done when my Dad suddenly passed so I was here for him/rest of the family. Anyhoo. It’s all speculation on all of our parts. I just hope Patty gets what he needs, even if it means going home and resetting himself. He will never read this but get well soon Patty ❤️❤️

  15. What the heck is going on… so many players who are seeking help in the Players’ Assistant Program this year? Is it in the NHL water? Somebody make a documentary?

  16. Good on Patty for taking advantage of the resources provided and good on the NHLPA for prioritizing the mental and physical health of the players.

It’s taken them far too long to provide these resources, but I’m thankful they exist now.

Oddly though, I wonder why it’s league policy for this sort of statement to be made so publicly. Seems like a pretty sensitive situation to be addressing like this.

Poor guy was so stoked at the start of the season: summer league, signing autographs through those intermissions, trying to be more defensively responsible by playing center, taking Fantilli under his wing. And his only reward has been a couple of injuries and whatever he’s dealing with now. I wish him the best. Hope he gets the help he needs.

Poor dude has had such a rough go the past few years. I desperately want him to succeed for his own well being.

  19. Fabresque_

Aww man. I feel so bad for the guy. It’s just been a rough few years with all the injuries. From 2021/22 till now he hasn’t played over like 55-60 games for us, that has to be taxing on a players mental health.

I hope he feels better #Hugs4Patrik💙

Man, I really feel for Laine. Injury after injury has GOT to take a toll on you, especially for someone as fiercely competitive as Laine. I wish he a speedy recovery and nothing but the best for him.

I think I speak for everyone here when I say I’m looking forward to cheering for him hitting those one timers again

  21. Ms_Irish_muscle

Oh shit. I had no clue something was going on.

NHLPA is top shelf when it comes to caring for their members. Wishing all the best for Laine.
