I guarantee Lou Lamouriello had a hand in this design. He famously detests any kind of alternate jersey (or anything else that's fun or interesting for that matter).
I'm sure the original concept was a lot more visually interesting but Lou put his foot down and this was as far as he allowed it to go.
If this is the jersey concept that won, I wonder what the others looked like.
l don't know why the Islanders have 1 orange jersey in their entire history, and 0 teal jerseys. Literally their normal home jersey with the blue and orange swapped would've been better

As an islanders fan, this jersey sucks. The oilers already filed a lawsuit against us for infringement cause of how close it is to their third jersey and the islanders management deserves it for giving us this lazy design that looks like it was started 30 minutes before the deadline adidas gave them. Only bright side is all us islanders fans will be able to get it for $60 after the season ends cause no one is paying $280 US for this crap
This would be an alright sweater design but it's a SHIT stadium series jersey
It reminds me so much of the Edmonton Oilers third jersey like the dark one they use sometimes

As an Islanders fan, I do not like the jersey at all. It looks like an Oilers, and a Flyers jersey. They dropped the ball on this one.
I didnāt like it at first, but itās grown on me. I think as a one and done itās not THAT bad.

Iām buying this jersey just because it ugly but I like it
Now imagine if the Islanders used the lighthouse secondary logo from the fisherman jersey where the bands of light started out norrow and expanded out to wrap around to make the wide band.
Part of me thinks get rid of the stripe on the torso(keep it on the arms), and instead of "Isles" on the chest, maybe an Islanders logo without the white – not completely sure how it would work, but certainly an improvement to this.
I donāt think itās that bad. Makes me think of a sweater from the early days of the NHL, same with the rangers one.

Itās funny how you feel so strongly good about the Rangers, and so strongly negative about the Isles jerseys, when theyāre not toooo fundamentally different from each other. And Iām not saying I disagree with your take on this one, Iām just not a huge fan of the Rangers jersey, at least when compared to the rest of their catalogue

Eeesh…I HATE shortened names on Jerseys, its so corny, borderline beer league. And its unbelievably boring. 1/10 because the colours are atleast good
