Moritz Seider tallied 2 assists for his 100th career assist. Jake Walman’s rocket gives him 10 on the year, a new career high and the 10th Red Wing to score 10 on the season. Andrew Copp scored his 10th of the season as well in this game as the 3rd line keeps rolling. And Joe Veleno may soon join the club as he scored his 9th on the power play. Solid vibes. This may have been the most important game of the year so far. The Wings played a complete game against a very good team and won. Good offense, defense, and goaltending – for 60 minutes!!!
Great work by Steve Yzerman. The hope was that they could have a similar offense by committee style as last year’s Kraken. So far they have. Seattle had 1 40 goal scorer, 4 20+ goal scorers, and 8 10+ goal scorers for a total of 13 10+ goal scorers last season. So far Larkin and DeBrincat are on pace for 30+ goal seasons, another 3 to 6 could score 20+ goals, and there could be at least 14 10+ goal scorers by the end of the season.
Tampa Bay, Toronto, Boston keep winning, but this great January is making the Red Wings staring to separate themselves from the Devils, Islanders, Capitals, etc for a possible playoff spot.
