Still not convinced on Vladar but Wolf is just a kid getting used to the NHL

Exhibit A: Why the Flames shouldn’t trade Markstrom until Dustin Wolf is settled in.

Vladar is streaky. I’ve seen him poop the bed many times, but I’ve also seen him stand on his head, like the recent Edmonton game. He has potential to be a really great goalie. Unfortunately this year the team support has been really lacking, especially in the turnover and back checking department. Wolf on the other hand is so young, it’s hard to expect him to live up to expectations at this point. I think it’s only fair to revisit once he’s in his late 20s and/or we have a team that wants to play defense worth a shit.

Wolf is just a baby

Wolf has played pretty well, some rookie mistakes here and there. He’ll be fine. He’s just a pup

Wolfs sample size is small.
And in those 5 games he played Vegas, NJ and Carolina. That’s a pretty hard go. Ya the Ottawa game doesn’t look great but that’s still a super skilled team.

Wolfy’s 5 game sample size means nothing considering he has had literally no time at all to really get acclimated to game pace. He is the best tendy outside the NHL and the NHL is the most difficult league in the world to compete in. I love Vladdy but I think it is time Wolfy got the official backup spot and get Vlad somewhere he will get more starts.

It’s incredibly uncommon for a goalie to step right into the NHL without missing a beat. I’d imagine Wolf, Wallstedt, and Sogaard will all be fine.
In fact, giving Wolf some more regular time in the NHL would likely be pretty good for his development.
Roderto
Which is why teams like the Devils, Leafs, or Stars desperately need to trade for a Flames goalie.
