The Red Wings are interested in Frank Vatrano & Jakub Chychrun (via @redwingscoverage on IG & David Pagnotta).

How do we fee about this? Thoughts?

Like with anything, if the price is right then maybe. Both solid players in their own right.

Frankly, I don’t have any clue where we fit Chychrun into our lineup right now or even in the next couple seasons until we get our roster in order but he’d obviously be quite an upgrade for us in several ways.

Probably a clearer near term path for vatrano but, again, would just depend on the deal.

Neither of these make any sense to me. Vatrano is an undersized winger, which we already have too many of (Kane, ADB, Raymond, Fabbri, Berggren) and Chychrun only makes sense if we move a left defensemen. But even so, that’s yet another spot taken from Edvinsson…

Wasnt Chychrun crying tears over playing in Ottawa and coming home?

Pretty meh on both to be honest. We’d be buying high on Vatrano, he hasn’t done much prior to this year. And Chychrun’s struggled with injuries and consistency his entire career.

All in on Chychrun. We hope one of the non-Ed LHD prospects can be that good. Just get the guy who IS that good and fits the core age wise. A left side of Ed, Chychrun, and Walman is set for half a decade or more. He helps generate offense in a way that we don’t really have outside of Gostisbehere who isn’t a long term solution.

I know it’s spiteful but I’d love to get Chych from them just to watch their fan base engulfed in rage over another Stevie Y fleecing.

Pagnotta is wrong more often than he is right. I don’t see where Vatrano would even slot in on this team and he isn’t worth the 1st-2nd round pick he would garner based on his current goal total. Chychrun I was interested when he was on Arizona. I don’t see Ottawa giving him to a divisional team unless they have no other choice like Debrincat.

Is there more to this than an image saying that the Wings are interested in those players?

Would be interesting to get Chychrun after all these years. I remember the Datsyuk cap dump where we swapped picks, giving up the 16th pick to Arizona to draft Chyrchun, then we settled for Cholowski at 20.

I’d bet the Red Wings are interested in every good player in the league. Doesn’t mean the teams they are talking to have any real interest in trading them.

Vatrano is having a career year, no

Chychrun, so dealing Walman or Simon? If you trade for him, Chychrun needs to be in the top 4

Chychrun works for me, but I don’t see a reasonable trade that makes it happen. But if there’s one to be made, then awesome. Chychrun and Ed in the top 4 on the left side is potentially top-5-in-the-league depth if Ed turns out the way he seems like he will.

But to get him from Ottawa at any reasonable price would possibly be an all time Yzerman move..

Vatrano makes some sense really. He has a year left on his deal and can replace perron or Kane on the wing in the middle 6 next season.

Why though? Neither of them are something this team is missing. I can’t imagine trading much for either of them.
