The NHL has to do something about this JuCo stuff happening more and more. The initial point of contact is Ekholm's head. Its clear he was deliberately trying to injure him. At what point do you have to play at the NHL to know the difference between a standard forecheck and what Gourde was doing?
Its interesting to note that DOPS was started specifically to root out dangerous play like this, and ironically this type of dirty, deliberate cheap play has only increased this year. The Wild have lost Kiril in MULTIPLE seasons – first in the playoffs from Ryan Suter's kidney crosscheck that went uncalled and unpunished to again the same thing happening this year. And that's just one team.
