Flyers really missed on not drafting both these guys… who are active players your team regrets missing on not drafting?

The Leafs chose Tyler Biggs and Stuart Percy in 2011 over players like Phillip Danault, Rickard Rakell, Boone Jenner, John Gibson and Nikita Kucherov

A lot of drafting and the players’ results in the NHL is player development. You don’t just draft good 18 year old players, and then magically, they perform.

So this is a better nod to the Avalanche noticing players that would fit into their development programs and getting ROI of their draft capital.

  3. Habs fan living in Ottawa seeing Brady Tkachuk on billboards everyday

  4. LittleGreenGhouls23

Hurricanes drafted Zack Boychuk in the first round and the very next pick was Erik Karlsson

  5. LilHomie204DaBaG

    Makar.

Was he the same draft as Nolan Patrick? Bc if so, man did the flyers fuck up that draft

  6. Toiletboy4

Basically any other living breathing people in 2015

  7. Well known for the most part but the Bruins taking Jakub Zboril, Jake DeBrusk and Zach Senyshyn with picks 13-15 when literally the next 3 picks were Mat Barzal, Kyle Connor and Thomas Chabot.

Nevermind Eriksson Ek, Boeser, Konecny.. hell even Roslovic and Beauvillier would’ve been nice.

When Vancouver drafted Jake Virtanen in 2017 over guys like Nylander and Ehlers and Dylan Larkin.

Also in 2016 when the Canucks drafted Olli Juolevie over Matthew Tkachuk and Clayton Keller.

NYR drafting Huge Specimen (Hugh Jessiman) #12 in the historic 2003 draft and missing out on…

    Dustin Brown
    Brent Seabrook
    Zach Parise
    Ryan Getzlaf
    Brent Burns
    Ryan Kessler
    Corey Perry

And that was just in the 1st round. An all time draft…and we get well…nothing.

Fun fact! We picked up Louis Leblanc in 2009 (total bust). The very next pick was Chris Kreider.

Carey ended up in the darkest timeline…

How long do I have to look before I see 2015 Bruins?

We don’t need Chabot, Kyle Connor or Matt Barzal anyway

  12. TheLoomingMoon

Normally I’d say a lot. But you never know how a player will develop in another system.

  13. Leafs took Liljegren over Stuart Skinner, Jake Oettinger and Jason Robertson

  14. The_Comic_Collector

I regret having 2 first overall picks stolen and losing Crosby and bedard

  15. xTomato72

Oilers chose Griffin Reinhart instead of Matthew Barzal

  16. delirious-nomad

Flyers taking Nolan Patrick over Cale Makar, Miro Heiskanen and Elias Pettersson.

  17. Hanging_Aboot

Flames traded up with the Devils to ensure they would get the best goalie in the draft, Trevor Kidd. Devils got the second best goalie that draft who went on to have a decent multi-team career, notably retiring as a Blues player.

Avs took Conner Bleakley over Pastrnak and Bleakley I don’t think ever did anything in the NHL. Even got re drafted and everything.

  19. Waiting for an AI program to be able to mess around with history and simulate these what ifs.

  20. onefivefifteen

Flames picked Tyler Wotherspoon over Nikita Kucherov.

  21. One-Management3649

Canucks fans saying Virtanen are nuts. That wasn’t even a reach. Choosing Joulevi over Tkachuk was franchise altering. Benning is possibly the worst GM in the history of the NHL.

  22. One-Adhesiveness-416

    Nikita Alexeev 2000
Did not pick some scrub named Henrik Lundqvist.

Could have got that guy his cup

  23. ShaunicusMaximus

Blues took Erik Johnson 1st overall in a draft that included Jonathan Toews, Phil Kessel, Nicklaus Backstrom, and Claude Giroux, to name a few. Eric Johnson was definitely a good NHL player, and he would have been an asset as a 2nd or 3rd rounder, or possibly even as a late 1st rounder, but hindsight is a bastard on this one.

  24. Zadina over Hughes is kind of the obvious one. But also, in 2017 we took Gustav Lindstrom in the second round and Dallas took Jason Robertson with the very next pick. The team really didn’t draft well with Holland at the helm.

  25. LiveHardLiveFast

Red Wings drafting Filip Zadina over Quinn Hughes still really bothers me.

  26. beingsupereasy

Kotkanothing over Brady Tkachuk. Still remember my Mtl friends trying to convince me (and themselves) that it was a good choice at the time. Thank you Marc Bergevin

In 2014, the Avs picked Conner Bleackley with their first pick at #23. If you haven’t heard that name before, that’s because he never played an NHL game (the only member of the 2014 1st round not to do so). He arrived 10 pounds overweight to the Avs training camp a few months later, and Roy was so pissed at him that the Avs fired Rick Pracey, their director of amateur scouting, for pushing for that selection. Bleackley would go on to be traded to Arizona, who declined to sign him and opted for a 2nd round pick instead. Now he’s a decent ECHL player with a career .56 PPG in that league.

Two picks later, at #25? Boston drafted elite gamebreaking goal scorer David Pastrnak.

  28. Pretty well known the Wild had two guys rated equally in the third round of the 2014 Draft. The Lightning heard, called up the Wild, and offered a late draft pick to move up a single slot. Wild accepted the trade, moved back one, and took Louie Belpedio, a guy who has played a grand total of four NHL games and looks to be a career AHLer.

The other guy they had rated equally, and passed up for a 7th rounder, is Brayden Point. Yes, that Brayden Point. Belpedio and a 7th for Brayden fucking Point. All time dumb decision.

  29. With the third overall selection in 2018, the Habs chose Jesperi Kotkaneimi while Brady Tkachuk was still available

  30. KohlWeld50

Wings could’ve drafted Quinn Hughs and instead we got Filip Zedina.
