Nucks got their hands full second half
Overrated Canucks will soon get a taste of reality and start losing. Overrated Losers since 1970.
I'm sorry, but did you just suggest "should the Canucks let go first round draft pics draft pics shop around for new players? " etc…,( or words to those effects) but 54 years of waiting for a Stanley Cup is always we can build it better for next year isnt going to go over well with all the new interest in the 'nucks.
Lekkerimaki and Willander are untouchables.
As a life long Canucks fan born and lived in van my whole life it’s hard not to get excited about this young team. But we as the fans need to pump the breaks this is a complete surprise season so in my opinion anything past round one is a massive turnaround in the right direction. Not trying to be negative just trying to be realistic. Anyhow go Canucks go lfg
Trade Mikheyev+1st this year(most likely a late pick in a shallow draft year)+B prospect like Raty. Hold onto Podz, Lekkerimaki Willander and D Pettersson.
Canucks vs Oilers. Winner of that game wins the Pacific!
Yeah no, disagree. Canucks should not trade away their current prospect pool nor its ability to draft just for a shot. We are not in a wild card spot, we are first in the NHL.
There's no more dangerous position for a team to be than to be "close." You can do a lot of really stupid things that mortgage your future and straddle you with contracts, especially in the cap era, that handcuff you going forward if you don't win it all. You can "go for it" without making the same mistakes the Canucks have made for the last decade. Trading away high draft picks and top prospects for rental players they won't be able to resign would be really stupid. Obviously if they win, nobody cares and it's great. But how many Cups do the Canucks have? There's a good chance that with Pettersson expecting a huge raise that if they give him what he wants, there might be some left for Hronek and that's it. Zadorov would be out. Remember, the OEL recapture penalty goes up to over 3 million next year, so the Cap would have to go up substantially for the Canucks to afford to keep everyone, even with Myers coming off, especially if they want to keep Nikita AND whoever they want to bring in. Sure, they could trade a guy like Kuzmenko, but I'd be careful with that. Trading him for a guy who would leave for nothing in the off-season could be a really stupid movie. This is the first year the Canucks have been this good for a very long time. If you put all your eggs in one basket when most of the players have very little playoff experience could be a costly mistake that we're blaming management over for decades. If they can get someone for a couple of 2025 or 2026 picks (not a 1st) that can be recouped in the future, sure. But I'd be very careful.
What about defense Petey? Is he worth anything?
Pettersson is an RFA with only one year of team control remaining at the end of this season. He’s shown little interest in an extension. May as well go for it.
They arent tough enough, sorry.
Go Canucks go
Funny how everyone’s on the Nuck bandwagon now
Trying to go for a home run at the trade deadline does not usually work as planned. Players performance almost always drops off. You end up over paying in short term and if you give away good picks and prospects in return, you lose in the long run as well. Canucks should focus on improving their depth, like getting a right hand shot on the 2nd defensive pairing
The Canucks have never been an Organization that is willing to sacrifice the future to make them a cup contender now. The only thing that gives the Fans hope that they Might pick up a piece for the playoffs, is keeping the team under the cap after the Impending Petterson contract, and the Number of free agents coming up this off season. They may be Forced to do something Financially that the Ownership and management might otherwise never be bold enough to risk.A rental player and a couple of trades might be the best thing that the team can do right now. And there is a lot of talent in the minors right now who will be able to take those open spots next season.
Still, Even with Exceptional goaltending and possibly the best 3rd line in the game right now, the Canucks make too many expensive mistakes, and don't seem to be able to deal with the physical play when the refs put the whistles away. I'll be very surprised if they make the Conference Finals in the post season
We already know that the referees won’t do any good for us. Why go all in still and destroy the team’s future? We should just go with what we have. Minor trades are ok.
To get rid of big Z would be a huge mistake my godddddddddddd
only reason to replace kuzmenko is to add toughness and size, only way they go deep in the playoffs
How about a good old fashioned blockbuster?
