I have officiated at a high level of hockey for over 20 years and I can say that the officiating in the national league is very inconsistent at best. Embarrassing as well

last year mcdavid had 40 goals in 40 games. Matthews has 40 in 50? The leafs are known for getting banged up as seasons drag on and losing their consistency and the oilers finished strong last year. Only time will tell. He has a good chance still.

If he has 40 goals, why is he only 13th in overall for the Scoring Title? Only 18 assists through 46 games?? Last year when McDavid had 64 goals, he had 90 assists to go with that!! Let that sink in for a moment.
I agree with O'Dog: I'm confused why Leafs Nation is putting all their faith in Woll. I get it, he performed exceptionally well for a string of games. It was simply just that though: A string of games. Woll doesn't have the experience of both Jones & Sammy. I strongly believe that Sammy being the starter & Jones his backup is good enough. Who's to say that Woll will return back to form when he laces 'em back up? I was of course stoked just like everybody else in Leafs Nation, but c'mon lol NOBODY KNOWS HOW GOOD WOLL WILL BE WHEN HE RETURNS. When Matthews is focusing on 70 goals without balanced play – he might be reducing his value to the Leafs team.😀Is Matthews worth more in a 1 to nothing victory over the Jets, than scoring 3 goals in a Leaf loss (of 6 – 5) against Columbus? {Looks like he might produce more value in playing in ways – to create more low scoring Leaf games and regulation wins.}
While the Leafs declined fairly rapidly in the standings this year (now to a wildcard spot) – Matthews scoring at a record pace hasn’t lead the Leafs to team success with his high scoring streak.
Now will this point be just taken by one or a few Leaf fans – in some odd way so some Leaf fan feels like they are a victim (via just from reading comments that aren’t their own views)?
