I’ve said the same thing every year. Look for guys with term and value. Like they did with McCabe last year. Maybe a Boone Jenner type could be a huge addition up front. Obviously defence is what we need but I don’t see them paying for one of the bigger names. Maybe a guy like Erik Johnson could make sense as a rental or a guy like Jan Rutta if you want term. Both guys are big, right handed, won Stanley cups and probably won’t cost ya much to acquire.
I love my leafs but man this team is pathetic, no balls anywhere in this organization!!!! if i were tre id be shaking shit up this summer BIG time. I think tre is the only one safe this summer. I want shanny and keefe gone, marner gone, Brodie gone, sammy gone, put john to 3rd c. Pick up some players with a heartbeat and set of balls, whip Auston and willy until they get the point that we wanna win, i wanna see big hits, punches thrown, hard forechecking and even harder back checking, oh and clear the front of our damn net!!!!!!!!

Completely agree. With Dubas we'd always have a flashy trade deadline, we'd get knocked out in the 1st or 2nd round and our prospect pool would keep shrinking every year. We can't afford to the think like that anymore. We got some good prospects coming up in Minten and Cowan (hopefully others can shine too) and if we lose them for nothing, we're idiots. I don't have faith in this D-core to make a run in these playoffs. Let's overhaul and come back better next year.

yup, this is basically a .500 team. I'd wait until JT comes off the books to do anything major. If we could get the bear back again that would make me happy for the time being. So, what happened to Shannahans 5 year plan? Why isn't anyone talking about him? I think this guy needs to get replaced asap!

you can shuffles these how you want. but this would leave the leafs with 2 mill in cap space (which theyll need even more for contracts next year.) and they have options. play reaves in the playoffs maybe if he remembers how to be tough and stand up for his teamates. or shuffle the lines with some of the younger guys.
put knies on the top line if he's playing well. or drop him down and give someone else a shot. defense would be perfect for playoffs exactly like that. playing gio and timmins is just a mistake at this point.

I would trade a there fourth round pick for Ilya Lyubushkin and I would also trade TJ Brodie for another right-handed shot defenseman similar to Ilya Lyubushkin because honestly that guy can throw some massive hits and that's what we need on that back end but that's about it I wouldn't make any big splashes at this trade deadline
Completely agree but what is the point of being a wildcard team picking in the late teens early 20s. If they make a move for a d he has to have term for him. You get what you pay for as a d. You aren’t going to get better trading minimal for minimal players
100% agree with ya this is not the year. If they go far good you should have done it for the last 4 years. I hope we get nothing and spend nothing , I want to see tree cook for a full off season then we can reassess
ALL of these issues could have been fixed in the offseason. If I were Shanahan I would have fired Treliving right then and there for not doing his job. When Dubas was fired Keefe and Shanahan should have been as well. NO sensible organization would keep running it back this many times. This offseason the ENTIRE front office and coaching should be relieved of their duties. They are going NOWHERE this season. Not even the playoffs. As long as Shanahan is president the team will sign a bunch of high scoring forwards to outscore their defensive mistakes. they need a president who focuses on defense goaltending, size, and grit. Shanahan's style is offense first and that does not work for a cup contender which the Leafs are NOT. Tannenbaum needs to be shown the door as well
