  1. Yes, they are moving in the right direction and they need to be sellers at the deadline. Losing Gauthier hurt as they do not have real top end talent up front, except for the Michkov.

  2. I’d be pretty upset if they don’t sell at the deadline. Walker, Staal, Seeler possibly and maybe Laughton depending on return. We have a few defenseman on our AHL team that deserve a crack at the NHL. Need to keep acquiring assets and preparing for when Michkov is here on his elc if we want to break the in-n-out of the playoffs streak. Love the channel!

  3. Lowest power rankings with most Stanley Cups?

EDIT: misunderstood assignment, all time power rankings from when The Hockey Guy started. Not all time franchise. 👍

  4. Flyers should sell at the deadline. They aren't going to compete with NYR/NJD/FLA/TOR/BOS/CAR in a series. This isn't it yet. It will hurt me deeply if Konecny or Laughton go, but if they bring in good prospects and picks, it will be easier to handle. I still haven't recovered from losing Giroux even though Tippett is awesome.

  5. I think they're going to fall short. Here let me help you, Cal Peterson. The Phantoms are second to last. His stats are abysmal. However, I'm fine with that. We got to think of the future. The Flyers have to get good young players locked down for 5 or 6 years. If they're going to the play-offs, it's short-term gain, for long term misery. Don't get greedy!!

  6. Note: THG repeated the Columbus Blue Jackets row history. Correct numbers are
    FLYERS THG POWER RANKING HISTORY

    Top Row: 21 times

    2nd Row: 44 times

    3rd Row: 45 times

    Btm Row: 47 times

    Avg: 18.97

    Best: 1

    Worst: 32

    First: 2 Times

    Last: 5 Times

  7. Flyers are not going to be buyers. It’s going to be a “soft sell”. With the addition of Drysdale it makes Walker very expendable. Staal, and MAYBE seeler will be gone at the TDL. Looks like Poehling is Laughton’s replacement so in the offseason he might be traded as well as Risto, could add Atkinson to that list as well. Konecny will re-sign a long term deal, both parties want that.
Hard work beats talent when talent isn’t working or working hard enough.

  8. Unequivocally and absolutely SELL. Making the playoffs is not the goal. And should not be the goal for the next year or two. They need to accumulate draft capital/prospects that fit their timeline, and not try to go out in the first round to prove a point that they can stay competitive.
Nobody cares if you get the 8 seed. It will not matter when you'll be picking 16th in the draft instead of in the top 10 where you belong. It will only hurt the future. Put yourself in the best position to get future STAR players and not mid 1st round depth pieces.

The players that SHOULD get traded are:

Walker – Preferably for a 1st from a desperate team in need of RHD.

Seeler: probably for like a 3rd but you might squeeze a 2nd.

Ristolainen – Probably with retention, and his value could fluctuate because of contract but also other teams get desperate.

Atkinson – Too old for the timeline, teams need depth goalscoring. Could get multiple mid picks.

Hathaway – Too old. Perfect 4th liner on a deep playoff team.

The riskiest choice is: Travis Konecny. He baaarely fits the timeline as he'll be turning 30 when Michkov gets here, but he's not gonna be worth the money he wants. He's a 70 point player at best. Not a 1st liner on any actual good team. Theyre absolutely set on the wing already going forward. They need to get maximum value for their players. He could get multiple high picks + a pretty high end prospect back.

(The problem is I don't think all of these guys will actually get traded. Whether due to lack of a suitor, or more likely, the fact that they're in a playoff spot will fool the brass into thinking they should keep some long term. Which is foolish. When Michkov gets here Walker will be going on 33. Its non negotiable to get rid of him at his highest value.)

And all of this, will be addition by subtraction, as it will make them worse this year, and get them the high draft pick they need.

  9. The FO already committed to a soft sell by prepping fans for disappointment at the deadline. This is the correct move for a winning org.

  10. I don’t see us spending a ton of assets this year. My top targets would be Henrique and Fleury. Goaltending and bottom 6 depth issue won’t be resolved when players get healthy. If we trade for defenseman, where do they slot in unless we send someone out? Also think it’s worth it to trade Toffoli for a decent pick and or prospect

  11. Actually surprised they were this high. I was expecting them (and Colombus) to be lower, but I guess I wouldn't know who would have been higher. Maybe San Jose or the Kraken would be higher.

  12. Since 2011-12, the Flyers developed a seesaw pattern of making the playoffs one year and missing them the next year. After 2019-20, it all just fell apart. Perhaps this is the year the Flyers get back on track, but their recent slide does not inspire much confidence.

  13. They need to stay the course of the rebuild unless they get no great offers for the ufas they will have at the end of the year. No need to add anything, just keep waiting for the prospect pool to flourish in 3 years and then start looking at cup runs. Like you said though, I would be fine either way if the got someone at the trade deadline without selling off future 1st ord 2nd round picks.
