Glad Kent moved early instead of waiting until the deadline. Monahan is playing well right now and an injury could have ruined the the trade.

Return aside, this is a good move for the tank. Monahan is our 3rd leading scorer and the only other good centre on the team besides Suzuki. The one downside is that this is even more of a one line team now though, so that’s a lot of pressure on Suzuki and Caufield.
We throw in one of our young D prospects and get a shit load in return!
We are all celebrating right now, because we are thinking “this is an early trade, if it was worthless then KH would have just waited until closer to the deadline”.
But I wonder if this is going to be more like Petry’s second trade and what we did with DeSmith. Which is to send a player to a place where they would want to play rather than get a hull out of them.
I could see us just getting our second back and some Center prospect that shows promise but not overly hyped.

As a Habs fan living in Calgary I would have loved the memes of him going to Edmonton, but Winnipeg gives me hope he’ll come back to us as a free agent.
I think the Jets Reddit is going to mutiny. They all seem to think Monahan is being traded for peanuts. KH is notorious for sitting and waiting for value. If he is trading Monahan this soon it must be hefty price they are paying.
