SEAN MONAHAN TRADED TO THE WINNIPEG JETS!

The Winnipeg Jets have been searching for their 2C, and it seems that they have found their guy. The Montreal Canadiens have traded Sean Monahan to Winnipeg in exchange for a 1st Round pick in 2024, as well as a conditional 3rd round pick.

  1. Sean Monahan was my favorite Habs center and I didn't want him to leave but since it's my dad's favorite team I love this trade

  2. Jets have lots of young prospects so we didn’t need a first. Kevin Cheveldayoff is a great manager so he sees how it would effect future trades and he feels confident on spending the first on him

  3. I really think Sean monahan is a great addition to the jets team. Even tho we gave up a 1st round pick, I think it'll turn out to be a solid addition to this team and hopefully with a couple more additions, this team will be a cup contender.

  4. Its LOW 1st rounder! and they have a 2nd rounder anyways. Go all in or why bother!
We can afford this trade. its better than nothing. You contradict your own comments.. 🤔

  5. Jets first will basically be a 2nd. The team looks great with him in the lineup on a good contract. Will help Jets lacking power play. I have always liked him as a player when healthy. I believe he is a great fit. Also, what Van gave up lol I like this better.

  6. Great, needed a center and hes probably the "best" center to get on the market right now for a decent and fair price. Id love another depth forward piece.

  7. I think its a GREAT deal. Sure, we lose our first pick, but we get someone who can stabilize some of those areas you mentioned. If you look closely at the Lindholm deal, where Vancouver game up their first pick along with parting ways with Kuzmenko and at least one very good prospect, I think it's just fine. Monahan is probably better than he shows in Montreal – and if Bones can convince him to play a two-way game, he will add some fire-power on the PP – much needed. This is just a fine deal.

  8. Prior to his injuries Monahan was considered a great 1C. He's 2 years younger than Scheif. Love this trade. Jets gave up no prospects.

  9. It's not that deep. Vancouver set the standard for this deadline so I'm not surprised with the deal. Specially because this is a year the jets want to go all in, obviously they are going to have to give up some picks that you normally wouldn't want to give up, but that's the price you have to pay to win the cup.

  10. If he helps us go far into the playoffs then the price tag is no problem. He’s healthy now for the first time in years. He was a 30 goal man. He will help, either a bit, or a lot. I’m anxious to see what happens.

  11. A late first in an all in year is nothing. Especially since you don’t have to give up anything from your roster.

    Big win

  12. I love the trade but just a question, has he had injury problems? I see he hasn't played a full season in a while. Regardless we didn't give up any prospects so its a fair price for a rental of his caliber

  13. 1st round pick is not an issue. Canucks got fleeced with Lindholm in my opinion so the Jets wouldn't have given that much in that trade. Plus they get Monahan now instead of the trade deadline to give him more time to get acclimated to the style and get comfortable so that hopefully by the trade deadline he's integrated and the Jets can see where they're at.

I think Mohnahan also leaves room for Chevy to get a Dman.
(Chevy's history is vastly in favor of wins than losses on trades. So I'm not concerned.)
