  1. I have a favorite team, but I really identify as a hockey fan first and foremost. The Canucks are not playing good hockey. They are playing great hockey. Are they a contender. Yes. Several teams are with over 30 games to go. We all love a Cinderella story in any sport and Vancouver fits that bill. Whether they get the cup or not, hockey fans are the big winners when we see this level of play.

  2. As a lightning and Penguins fan i have to agree. Their depth is probably the best in the NHL. They may not have a Crosby, McDavid or Kucherov but they have a bunch of superstars with alot of depth. In my opinion you need a great goaltender, elite defenseman, superstars, and great depth. Vancouver has all four. Tampa almost with three out of four, Colorado has three out of four.

  3. Not just you, but why do people keep saying they are 1st place in the entire league, when they are tied for 1st with Boston at 71 points in the same number of games

  4. I am a Canucks fan and I would definitely not consider us favorites. It's been a fantastic season but I still see us struggling against Vegas or Colorado in a 7 game series.

  5. All I can say as a diehard since birth Canucks fan is please take us to the promised land, on a side note I’m sure most if not all Canucks fans really hasn’t let this hit them since this season was so unexpected and the lindholm trade was so odd for this fanbase to witness as we haven’t been bites in forever. Anyways I love the content especially when it’s about the Canucks!

  6. I'm picking the Oilers as the best chance for the Cup to return to a Canadian based team. Few teams have ever won without prior playoff disappointment, and Vancouver hasn't had that with this group. They are an impressive team and should be considered contenders.

  7. No. Every year a top team (like the Bruins last year with record wins) gets promptly knocked out of the playoffs. Remember the book 40 years ago – The Curse of the Canucks?

  8. The Canucks won’t make it past the first round. They don’t have the grit required for playoff hockey.

  9. Vancouver will need to focus on the best lineup to beat Edmonton in the playoffs. No question they will need 4 solid lines to come out of this division.

  10. It would be quite surprising if a team goes all the way the first time they're in contention. Normally, there will be be some bitter disappointments first. Look at Tampa, Colorado, Vegas… (edit: I forgot Boston)
First round exit is at least as likely as winning the cup.

  11. im 24 now im a massive canucks fan and ive honestly been staying away from the stanley cup talk this season i just want to take the pkayoffs when they come one game at a time. Makes me very anxious to see what could happen come playoff time but im super excited for playoff action here in vancouver again. been far too long. go canucks go!

  12. Cup favorites no chance. Cup contenders. Possibly. Let's not put the cart before the horse. One step at a time.

  13. We have Carson Soucy as well on the blueline but hes out for another few weeks. He's been great. We actually have a monstrous bottom 4 on the blueline.

  14. Theres something funny about the Flames and Canucks combining their power to try and beat the Oilers in the playoffs.

  15. The canucks have been playing very well this season. However they have not been in the playoffs since 2019-2020 and this year will determine if they can handle playoff pressure. I think teams like the oilers and Winnipeg have more playoff experience.

  16. 0% chance this team has no playoff experience and they have a linear play-style of offense, they will run into the same problem the oilers had against the golden knights last yr, just watch

  17. Not a chance. Only 3 regular playing Canadians in the line up and they haven't even played much. Ain't gonna do sh!t in the playoffs.

  18. Watch out for the Riots!!! Van city gunna lose it if they lose again in the finals! I hope the Oilers jets or Canucks win this years its looking good unless the NHL is rigged

  19. Great rundown. The only thing that got missed is the fact that we still have Carson Soucy who will be back from injury in a few weeks.

  20. If the Canucks add another top 6 forward, Mikheyev is the one who should be dropped to the 4th line, not Suter. There is a reason why Suter has the 4th highest ice time per game, amongst forwards on the team. The guy is very underrated…

  21. They've been Cup favorites before and they lost in the final. So let's not get ahead ourselves and let the boys play.

  22. As good as the 2010/11 Canucks were, I think this team is better suited for playoff hockey. I’ll never say anything bad about the Sedins, but I think the final round against Boston was out of their comfort zone physically. And I think Demko is a little more consistent than Luongo was

  23. Id love to see them try to use Hoglander on that 2nd line, with better linemates he could start tearing it up

  24. I wouldnt sleep on the Canucks Defense, the names may not pop out to you, but they are definitely one of the hardest groups to play against because they constantly crush opponents on the ice.

  25. Us fans have been in the depths of despair for a decade. This has been a ling time coming, funny to see the bandwagon our hard on them.

  26. Stanley Cup Favourites or Contenders, let's not jump at that yet…they have to be tested in the playoffs. But this team most definitely provides hope to the fans.
