Everyone saying it is an overpay and I just don’t see that. Yes a first round pick is a first round pick at the end of the day but this is a low first round pick in a pretty mid draft class, I’m not worried
I believe if you want to win, you have to give up assets! The Jets kept young talent, so if you think you can win! Just go for it! I still feel you need another winger & defensemen! I love it! Go Jets Go!
Wpg still owns Montreal's 2nd round pick: it's not too far off where the Jets would be picking.
I'm sure we will love him here, maybe even sign him for 3 years more. The main thing is is that we still have cash for a great D-man. Chevy is not done yet, he's great at this stuff :). Think Apple and Stanley with 2nd round pick for Tanev

If Mony improves our PP, faceoff %, and scores a few then he’s worth it. Not to mention making others better and giving Bones some options where to slot others. Given who was available, for how much, this is a no brainer.
I’m excited to see how quickly he gets up to speed with the system and what kind of a difference he can make. I have no doubt he will fit in.
If Monahan stays healthy, he will add incredible depth to the Jets. He can do it all: win faceoffs, play wing, play on the power play, penalty kill and is a leader and a great playmaker. As a Habs fan, I am sorry to see him go and Habs will will be losing games often for the remainder of the season.
Im so sad to see him go a master on face off making the canadien a better team when he played with us so the Jets fans gonna love him.
People say Monahan wasn't cheap for what he is. But because the Jets got him early, there is an extra cost for that. Now, if the Jets get Tanev then they are set.
When the season 2023-2024 started the habs got 6 centers : Suzuki, Dach, Newhook, Dvorak, Monahan and Evans. after 2 games Dach was pushed away into the bench of Chicago Blackhawks by former Habs 6'6" Jarred Tinordi land baldly will miss the rest of the season 5 left than New cormer Alex Newhook was injured too 4 center left now the Turn of Christian Dvorak (for the rest of the season 3 centers. Yesterday we trade Sean Monahan to Winnipeg for nothing (yet).
We have 2 center left Suzuki and Evans. we will need to call 2 AHL to fill the gap by time New Hook came back in the line up ! Center are like D-Man you never ever had enough of them.
He’s a 3C at best . Ehlers & Perfetti get 3rd line minutes.
Monahan is injury prone!
The Jets handled this trade very well. If the Jets waited and the Avs landed Monahan, it would have been a lost opportunity. The Canadiens were looking to trade him and other teams were looking to making the trade, so Chevy closing the trade now was a good move.
I'm a habs fan . It's better than Lindholm all around. Monahan played with garbage players and young players. 35 pts in 49 games is huge in this condition. Forget the -10, the habs top 6 are -16 to -21. Habs are close to 500, they will drop to 350 without monahan. The players around him will be better. Elhers and Prefetti production will explode. The only negative point is the injuries. Jets are closer to the cup now….
I'm a habs fan and now rooting for the jets this spring. Bring back the cup home to Canada!
