We know the new direction like to make a package deal with draft picks to get some young players that have great potential but were struggling with their last team like Dach and Newhook. Do you think Lukas Reichel could be a good target for Hughes and Gorton since we got 2 1st round picks in 2024?

  2. Honestly I’d like to package our 2 1sts along with onr of the extra defenseman we have(Harris or barron) and maybe an extra prospect to wheoever has the first overall pick. I want celebrini lol

Although his overall numbers are not great, he has a had good chemistry with Bédard i have seen and I don’t think the hawks are willing to give up on a young guy that Bedard can build chemistry with.

  4. Big nope ….we can draft our own struggling young players .

    No.

I want more established players, reichel has shown nothing at the nhl level

Sticking to our 2019 draft plan. I’d say we are going to get Alex Turcotte during this years draft.

  7. I’d love to use one of the first’s and a d prospect for Kent Johnson out of Columbus he’s a beast, and has recently expressed some displeasure being in Columbus along with Jiricek

No because Hawks are rebuilding why would they get rid of Reichel? And no, Dach is different because they wanted to start from scratch with (hopefully) Bedard. They’re not going to continually reset their prospects.

The team we’ll poach a young talented player from is one that’s at the end of their window/doesn’t have the right tools and who’s willing to set back 2-3 years to come out stronger. I’m thinking Minnesota, Buffalo, Flames, Flyers, Preds or Blues. Jets and Canucks would have been perfect last year but now that they’re back on track I don’t see it happening.

We definitely need high end talent and I think Hughes is even ready to overpay for it.

In Hughes we Trust just enjoy the ride Kent Hughes has nothing to prove he wants to be the best and he will be he’s not in it for the money F.Y.I

Imo we should just use the picks and wait for a year to see how the market evolves. Things move faster than we think in the NHL, especially narratives, and we’ll still have 2 picks in 2025.

Id rather pick Buium/Catton/Lindstrom with our pick + Iginla with Winnipeg’s and develop them than going for another kinda underwhelming reclamation projet (Newhook has ben ok, love Dach but he has to prove he can stay healthy).

I dont think we need to rush a move for a guy like Zegras or struggling guys like Kakko or Turcotte. Odds are, taking on players that other teams give up on will just give you a pretty good team, but a team that cant go all the way. We gotta bet on ourselves, if the best player available is a D then so be it, we’ll then have concrete assets to target forwards that are actually worth it by the time we get there.

Hope the next one we get that way stay healthy

  12. What you have to look for his players around 23-24, 3-4 years in the NHL, around 0.42-0.45 PPG (30-35 pts). That’s what Dach/Newhook were getting before we acquired them. Then look for signs of those players being misused on their current teams that could indicate they’re ready to throw the towel on them instead of committing to a new contract.

The only one I found that seems to fit all those criterias is Joe Veleno. 24, 3rs season, RFA this summer, on pace for 33 pts but playing 14:43 mins/game in Detroit. Wouldn’t cost any 1st rounders and would add some of that speed that Hughes wanted in Newhook. Plus he’s from Montreal, so maybe trying to also do a Matheson 2.0 there.

Detroit isn’t strapped for cash, and don’t have any big extensions to work out outside of Seider, so that’s where the urge to move on from Veleno could be lacking.

  13. I would probably go big on RD Jiricek and LW/C Dylan Holloway.

I think the challenge is finding teams to willing to part with their young players. If you look at are last 2 acquisitions, Dach and Newhook, both teams had reasons to move on from them. I don’t think at this stage Chicago would want to move on from Reichel. In fact it seems like quite the opposite considering they have had him paired with Bedard on and off through the season.

Also keep in mind management has had a preference for young players already in the NHL.
The only 3 around the league that I can think of are:
    Zegras
    Kaliev
    Kakko

I wanted that guy over Guhle so I’m already biased towards saying yes

They should keep the picks, and pray for the next pasta.

You’re not getting what the habs need by trading 2 late first rounders and some B prospects.

  17. From a Hawks fan:

No. Absolutely not. A team with more high end players on it is not going to help him. No matter what talent he plays with he isn’t getting to potential.
