Its Allstar weekend, ppl tune out, specially the ones that know their team is numbered. This only matters to writers and the host city, who gets to surround themselves with such talent. Crosby is a team guy, all-stars are more about personal accolades, Sid used them up in his first 5 yrs the league. I rather see the Allstar game that would have meaning, like what MLB does, the winning team from either the American or National get home field advantage in the finals, 3 on 3 isn''t real hockey, and to crop out so many good defense in the league from the all star game was unfair, for players that give up their body to block shots and log the majority of their team's time on ice.

The nhl all star "game" is a poorly run circus. They don't care about legacy fans, only the newest trend to try to "make new fans". They have the design for the whole thing in basically comic sans, and they want players to take being there seriously.
I think they need to make the all star game mean something. Players on the winning team can earn their clubs an extra million in cap space for the last half of the season. The skills comp give the winning player's team a tie breaker in playoff brackets, or give them home ice advantage for the first 2-3 rounds regardless of playoff position. Something to make these games actually get the best out of players.

In my opinion, Frank is totally right. It was very disappointing, not to have Crosby at the draft.
Seravalli needs to shut his pie hole, drop 60 lbs and get some hair dye, he is making 35 look like the new 55.

I think a good number of the players attending the all-star weekend don't really care to be there. When they are chosen they should have a chance to privately and quietly decline the offer and let another member of their team elect himself to go represent their team. If they don't want to participate they shouldn't have to.
It's funny how people say Crosby is top 5 all time. I'd put 5 players from one famous shift, a 5 on 3, ahead of Crosby: Zetterberg, Lidstrom, Osgood, Kronwall, and Fleury. Canada has been feeling it's near 100% dominance slipping from the NHL slipping away and the leagues best players were now from Europe so they had to hype the kid and stack failing Pittsburg to make it survive and not move to Hamilton. Three two 2 picks in three years, nothing to see here, happens all the time.
fly in Wed, Draft on Th, Skills on Fri, Games Sat, fly out Sun. Nice to do all that – raises money for the players I would guess… but also seems ok to just fly them in on a Fri for a dinner & social, group lunch on Sat then…. social w fans & Game & fly out. Just getting STARS together in 1 place for 1 day may be reasonable
