Who of the what is officially what? I’ve only ever known of Kucherov as an absolute nightmare, ever since the 2015 playoffs.

Its absolutely ridicolous how less first place votes he got in hart converstation compared to mackinnon. He is the definition of a hart trophy winner if thats continues. Without him tampa would be probably at the bottom of the league

Kuch was good last year but McDavid topped him by 40 points and 34 goals (More than Double Kuch's 30g) MacKinnon had 11 less games, 12 more goals and only 2 less points.
The previous 3 seasons Kuch was injured and did not even lead the lightning in points or surpass 100 points… and the year before that he WON THE FRIGGIN HEART – but oh yeah he doesn't get a fair shake…
Kuch will be in the conversation this year (hence Cooper is drumming up support) but he is a winger, and they are just less important. MacKinnon hits more, blocks more shots, has more OTG and GWG , scores more 5 on 5, AND he takes face-offs. Mac's easily the better player this year so far, BUT Makar and Rantanen – so Kuch will be in the conversation. I just don't see how the numbers support anything more.
The biggest problem with Hart Trophy discourse is that no one knows what the award is actually for. It isn't for the best player, it's most valuable player to his team. There is a difference. Kucherov absolutely deserves to be top three in Hart voting this year, regardless of where the Lightning finish in the standings. There already is an award for the best player, and it's called the Ted Lindsay award
