Which current NHL player(s) do you find most “exciting” to watch on the ice ?

I love Nate Mack’s game for many reasons .. such a great & competitive player & you can see the passion he has for the sport night in & night out . He showcases so much skill & has SOO much flair but yet is so composed like the game just comes naturally to him . I’m always hyped when he’s on a breakaway (almost certain that the puck is finding its way in the net too) it’s never a dull moment when he’s on the ice . He’s always looking for ways to get his teammates involved as well not at all a selfish player ,he’s always looking to make the right play & he does while doing it in style !

Who’s your favorite player to watch on the ice ?

McDavid for forwards and Quinn Hughes for defencemen.

Personally, I have to go with Pasta. Only reason why is I rarely get to see any of the big names play live. The NHL makes it very difficult to watch games unless you’re willing to spend over $100 a month on cable. So, I only get to see Bruins games.

McDavid, MacKinnon a close second. McDavid seems to be able to just decide he’s going to take over the game sometimes.

Mac Mc kuch drais rant Jack and Quinn to name many

  5. SovietHockeyFan

Pretty much only McDavid. I was spoiled coming into the world with Orr then Gretzky then Mario. It’s like being satiated with just handjobs after 20 years of daily threesomes

Sid was probably my favorite back in the day. Nice goals, amazing passing, a workhorse who could get his own pucks. Now you have loads of dynamic players who can do it all. McDavid or Mack are the obvious choices tho I feel.

Why is “exciting” in quotations? What kind of excitement are you getting at?

  8. Greecelightninn

Hughes effortlessly dangling around other players or passing to himself off the back of the net , always setting up scoring chances and hustles after the puck .

  9. Hintz is a less popular name that is great to watch. Very fast, sneaky shot, a great 2 way game and high iq.

I enjoy guys that slip under most people’s radar like, Tage Thompson, Moritz Seider, and Drew O’Connor, to name a few.

  11. Electronic_Nail

Jaccob Slavin. It’s fun watching him shut down the top-line of opponents night after night

  12. Awkward_Function_347

Stützle could teach a master-class in soft hands!

Don’t hate me too much for mentioning Bedard but as a casual fan of hockey, man was it exciting to see how well he fit in the show right away. It really sucks he got injured.

  14. I’ll do a homer pick and say Auston. It’s incredible to watch a pure goalscorer improve in all areas of the game each season. Not as dynamic as Connor or MacKinnon, but defensively sound … and he just keeps bloody scoring.

Unapologetic homer bias, but Auston Matthews’ ability to score from weird places is very exciting.

In the corner, on the red line, a couple guys in front of the net? Just thread it behind the goalie’s leg and off the far post.

  16. I like all the players that are not trying to play average, boring hockey. Going close to extreme in pretty much anything is always more fun

-MacKinnon, McDavid, Pastrnak, Kane, Laine etc with the puck

-Marchand, Wilson etc, when trolling the other team

-Pelech etc defensive D can also be fun, when stapling guys to the boards

-the weirdest goalies going off the rails, Binnington is sometimes fun even if he pulls a stinker for the ages & lets in 6

-the coaches caring at least a bit, steaming on the benches / after the game

-even old guy Ovie can be fun, either he scores or the opposing analysts tell how much he sucks

-the gong-show’s, like Pittsburgh completely sucking it up despite the Last Dance routine by Dubie-doo in the front office, or SJS being so bad that you are just looking at the player faces for signs of losing interest in life

  17. Quiet_Nectariney

Marner used to be electric, last couple years has been kinda tame

  18. Working_Horse_3077

My on radar pick is obviously McDavid general offense Matthews shooting Makar defense

Off the radar is Nick Robertson wicked wrister and isn’t afraid to get a little physical despite his small stature

  19. bfitzger91

McDavid is just a level above everyone else. Fun to watch almost every shift.

Same if you see him there’s nothing you can do

  21. cnrowe2002

Seeing MacKinnon live was an experience. Seeing him fly through zone entry over and over is crazy.

  22. Ok_Artichoke_2804

Current: Quinn Hughes – such great puck control in O zone..

Past: (my fave player of all time): Roberto Luongo – sniper style glove hand saves, long leg toe saves “Great Save Luongo!” “Bingo bango bongo, his name is roberto luongo!” Etc.. every save makes me shout LUU & jump out of my seats. There is no other goalie (yet) as exciting to watch make glorious saves.

Sedin twins- magic on ice. All the no look passes & precise passes to each other. Tic tac toe goals with Burrows.. how did they do it?! Must be twin telepathy. Again, there never be another duo like them.

Raffi Torres – literally a human bulldozer on ice.. big massive hits & low hip checks. Such a great enforcer foe Canucks.

  23. Chemistry between Sebastian Aho and Teuvo Teräväinen is something special.

  24. Joku_emt_kuka

Mikko Rantanen. Might be a bit of a finnish bias, but him being so hard to knock off the puck is so fun to watch and his shooting is amazing

  25. ChuckFeathers

McDavid, MacKinnin, Hughes, Makar and Kucherov.

  26. I’m in Europe so I don’t watch the games too often, but it’s fun for nostalgic reasons to tune in and watch Stammer, old man’s done playing soon
