If you want to see what a shoulder to head hit looks like, look up Campbell vs. Umberger. Watch how Umberger's head doesn't rock forward, but rocks backwards from the impact. Staal's hit on Stajan is not shoulder to head, physics shows us so.
@rockdCasbah So, from this latest retort, you're joining me in slinging insults? Sarcastically insinuating that I'm dumb and repetitive is any different than calling someone retarded? How so? May not want to refute your own point. You simply reinforce my original point in doing so.
@DrNingNing Maybe it's because your sport is NFL, not NHL… A huge hit to the BODY that hurts the opponent, I have no problem with that… But, to hit the head with a piece of kevlar… That might be what you call: pussification….
Yes the hit was legal, and yes hockey is a contact sport, and yes Stajan should have kept his head up, and yes he should have stopped admiring his pass. But i still think that hits like this, as fucking awesome as they are, are pretty dirty. The poor guy cant even stand up afterwards.
@DrSquiresMD So, if I go by your logic: You go to pick-up the puck in the corner and I nail you in the corner, shoulder to the head…. I should laugh at you while you're down and say: protect your neck?! Wow that's LOGIC!
@DrNingNing Lollllll! I'm a habs fan! Don't get me wrong, I enjoy a good solid clean hit! I also enjoy a good fight! But I can't stand those hits shouler to the head… or else if you want to keep this legal, all players should wear those good old Cooper shoulder pads… Kevlar directly to the head is like breaking your stick on someone's head.
@DrNingNing Don't you know that a lot of football players gets brain injury and that they die at young age because of brain disease caused by head trauma?? Why? Because of those hits to the head… Read and learn, maybe you'll find those hits a little less brilliant…. Remember hockey is about skills to score, not about killing the opponnent.
@rockdCasbah that wasn't a hit to the head staals shoulder hits stajan in the chest/shoulder area and his head got whipped forward from the impact, this is a clean hit stajan is out of his fucking mind for admiring his pass coming over the blueline.
@rockdCasbah so by your logic: Picking the puck up in the corner in the defensive zone comparable to making a lead pass on the rush in the offensive zone? it is staal's job to take him out of the play. Thanks for proving to all of us that you don't understand hockey. your done here. Move on. Theres some videos of ice dancing or horseback riding somewhere around here.
@DrSquiresMD It's funny how we see a lot of clowns like yourself on youtube, playing with words and pretend to be a genius… How are you doing this? In my exemple, who said that it was defensive or offensive play?! No one but yourself, which is the equivalent to NO ONE…
@Desarollo26 "a lateral, back-pressure or blind-side hit to an opponent where the head is targeted and/or the principal point of contact." That's the rule… sorry
@Desarollo26 You really think that when you cut like that in the middle of the ice, to hit a guy, that it's accidental?? When you play hockey, you know that a hit like that will create a huge impact! And while doing it, you know it's going to hurt. Also, do you really think that Staal is going to say on the mic: yep! I wanted to cut his head off, I missed him, he's still alive! And stop it with the shitty description of knee bending and hips… We're not analysing a dancing contest here….
@Desarollo26 Bla bla bla…. Ok. answer this: If the hit would have been done by Ruutu or Cooke, is the NHL would give a suspension?? The NHL! Not you! Answer: YES It's not a question of: if Staal is or is not a dirty player….
@rockdCasbah Oh, and "He got me with a good one, thats for sure" – Matt Stajan from the Calgary Herald so you can stfu now and stop jabbering your nonsense to the good people of youtube
@DrSquiresMD Wow, you're so naive! As if he was going to say: "this idiot hit me on the bucket …." Stop reading the newspapers, it's all crap! Everyone must be SO politically correct … same thing for interviews, they respond like programmed robots … they have learned to manipulate the media and say as little as possible …

@shens680 Don't waist your time… they don't understand the new rules…
@rockdCasbah They don't understand hockey with the commentators they get their hockey education from. I don't know how they keep their jobs.
@shens680 Most of the commentators don't know hockey at all… What can you do?!

@Desarollo26 You rely to the fact that because Staal is a clean player that the hit was clean… Which is wrong….
@Desarollo26 On that last point, you are right… I agree that we disagree. Which is okay…
@DrSquiresMD You know so much… (sarcasm) Ahaaaaaaaaa!

Great hit! Commentators are such idiots these days. Always talking about head shot whenever a good clean solid hit is thrown.
Keep your goddamn head up and you won't be getting fucked up, that's all you can say.
Clean hit.
Clean hit! Stajan with head down skating with puck through the middle.
