  1. LIGHTNING THG POWER RANKING HISTORY

Top Row: 111 times (highest of all teams)

    2nd Row: 35 times

    3rd Row: 11 times

Btm Row: 0 times (1 of 3 teams to never be there)

    Avg: 6.13

    Best: 1

Worst: 21 (highest of all teams)

First: 34 Times (highest of all teams)

    Last: 0 Times

  2. Vasilevskiy is pretty much the Linchpin of the team, however well he plays, the team plays, if he struggles, the team struggles.

  3. TBH I feel like its been proven that its NOT a good thing to set the league record in points as both times its happened in the "salary cap era(2005 till now)" both teams (Tampa and Boston) were knocked out in the first rd.

  4. People think of the 3 year run where they went to 3 straight Finals but the history of this group goes back to 2014. Cooper’s first full year in the NHL, and was the first year this group really showed promise but got swept by Montreal. Since then? 2 cups, 4 Cup Finals, and 6 Conference finals appearances. They went through tons of long playoff runs that came up short before they broke through (2015,2016,2018) and 2019 was obviously the lowest point but most importantly they learned so much from the embarrassment. Yzerman built it, but when he left all credit to the leadership group, BriesBois and Cooper for seeing what was and wasn’t working, owning up to it, then welcoming what needed to change in order to not just win it all, but become one of the best run organizations in all of sports tbh ⚡️

  5. The Lightning will go as far as Vasilevskiy takes them. Both cup runs he was otherworldly. I would feel wary about giving up any more 1st round picks because a lot of our assets have been mortgaged over the last four years. We still got our core and they are still relatively young so as long as the production is there we will be in the mix as long as we want to be tbh. Go Lightning!!!!⚡️⚡️⚡️

  6. 3:50 "3 cups in 4 years is a dynasty". So the Hawks 3 cups in 6 years wasn't a dynasty? Not tryin' to stir the pot, just need a little clarification. I think I know the answer but I wanna be sure. Believe me it'll be a long time they're any more dynasties here in the windy city. Welcome home by the way.

  7. 1 – Tampa, 2 – Boston, 3 – Toronto, 4 – Vegas, 5 – Colorado… why make 32 videos just to say you hate Montreal 🤣

  8. Great work Shannon and evon on a fantastic all star week series. Also thank you to whoever shared the data that helped make this series possible.

  9. As a bolts fan, Tampa needs some nice secondary scoring at the TDL. The top 6 is fine, The top 4 when healthy is fine, the goaltending is fine, but at time it feels like it’s the top 6 or nothing, certainly has improved a little bit, getting Jeannot back will certainly help, as I feel like he was playing some good hockey before he got hurt. but Luke Glendenning cannot be your bottom 6 scoring leader. I don’t have a solution for this problem, but that’s why I’m not on the Lightning staff.

I will be interested to see if the Lightning try to create a 3rd line with Paul Jeannot and Motte or somebody like that to be the “shutdown” line in the playoffs

  10. Can't wait till they visit M.S.G. and; the Rangers…..😮😮😮 Vaseline-ski vs. Shesty…..😮😮😮

  11. They would probably have more cups if it wasnt for the playoff format. The Atlantic division has some crazy playoff series. It's like watching a Conference finals in the first 2 rounds annually.

  12. Now that all the rankings are out, I've compiled each team's difference in ranking between THG and the NHL.

    CBJ: +7 (22nd THG, 29th NHL)

    DET: +4 (28th TGG, 32nd NHL)
    CGY: +4 (12th THG, 16th NHL)

    WPG: +3 (7th THG, 10th NHL)
    STL: +3 (11th THG, 14th NHL)
    NYI: +3 (15th THG, 18th NHL)

    NJD: +2 (20th THG, 22nd NHL)

    TBL: +1 (1st THG, 2nd NHL)
    TOR: +1 (3rd THG, 4th NHL)
    VGK: +1 (4th THG, 5th NHL)
    BUF: +1 (27th THG, 28th NHL)
    WSH: +1 (8th THG, 9th NHL)
    SJS: +1 (23rd THG, 24th NHL)
    NSH: +1 (10th THG, 11th NHL)

    CAR: = (6th THG, 6th NHL)
    PHI: = (21st THG, 21st NHL)
    DAL: = (13th THG, 13th NHL)
    LAK: = (19th THG, 19th NHL)
    NYR: = (17th THG, 17th NHL)

    BOS: -1 (2nd THG, 1st NHL)

    ANA: -2 (29th THG, 27th NHL)

    EDM: -3 (18th THG, 15th NHL)

    MIN: -4 (16th THG, 12th NHL)
    VAN: -4 (24th THG, 20th NHL)
    ARI: -4 (30th THG, 26th NHL)

    FLA: -7 (14th THG, 7th NHL)

It's interesting to see which teams might be performing better or worse than indicated by ppt, the Blue Jackets and Panthers obviously standing out the most.

Note: In the videos, no teams were ranked 23rd in ppt. This was because Anaheim was wrongly ranked 28th instead of 27th, causing all subsequent team until the Kraken to be shifted by 1 spot.
Yea I have a lot of a free time.

  13. To think only about 10 years ago, the Tampa Bay teams had the lowest combined winning percentage of any city. The Bucs, until 2021, were the most losing franchise in all of professional sports. The Rays were 29th in winning percentage in baseball. And the Lightning were 26th in winning percentage in hockey. Combined, Tampa/St Pete was last among cities, at least the ones with with an NFL/MLB and NHL/NBA. Since then the Bucs have won a SB, the Lightning won 2 cups and been in the final four times, and the Rays made a World Series appearance. It's been quite the run.

  14. As a wild fan I would say this team was 100% a dynasty. 2015 finals 2020 2021 cups with going to it a 3rd time in a row and won in 2008 with the draft year of stamkos to pass the torch.
Stamkos- 2nd best goal scorer in his primetime and era behind ovi not all time just to be clear.

    Kucherov- straight up generational player

Vasy- best goalie since Carey price

Hedman- being a superstar 2 way defender with size and power and great hockey iq

Point and Sergachev is just the cherry on top.

Never had fun watching the blackhawks dynasty in their greatness since I always hated them cause of all the playoffs that they kicked the wild out.

    This formula works too

    Crosby
    Malkin
    Letang
Fleury with great additions like gentuzel and Kessel

    Ovi
    Backstrom
    Carlson
    Holbty with Kuznetzov and Oshie

Toronto needs to take note cause they would look like

    Matthews
    Marner
    Nylander
    Tavares
    Bertuzzi

Cause Reilly is not close to a hedman Carlson or letang

And Samsonov is not a fleury Holbty or vasy

  15. Long time Tampa native. I was waiting so long for this video it felt like lol, consistency throughout this cores years. Proud to have watched it all so far. Hopefully another cup run in there somewhere 🤞🏼

  16. I really loved this whole series – nice work!

    Two suggestions for the future:
    – put vertical lines delineating each year on the sheet, so we can see that. Makes it easier to see the progression
    – if possible, put a screenshot of the graph in the comments. Does Youtube allow that? If not, a link to a screenshot maybe? Obviously you can't share the spreadsheet without giving everything away, so I'm trying to figure out a way to give a better view of the graph for each team

Anyway, like I said – great job! And I appreciate the work that went into this in the runup to your vacation. It must have been a busy week 🙂

  17. Growing up in Tampa bay is weird, because once I started to travel the US, you rarely see hockey jerseys and bumper stickers unless you’re in Canada, NY, NJ and Philly. Tampa is a great city but it’s oddly a hockey city. There’s bolts billboards, logos, flags EVERYWHERE here. A hockey city deep in the south, like an alien lol

  18. Loved this series Shannon, hoped you enjoyed your vacation with your family, even if it was interrupted with some trades! Would love to see more like this

  19. I remember after the loss to Capitals in ECF and off course CBJ, popular narrative was that this team chokes in the big moments, very happy they finally got to the top. So much fun to watch this core play through the years.
