This is why I wanted to keep Monahan (although I respect Hughes’ thinking). Some people say fans are impatient but it must be worse for players: they try to win, they lose, and instead of getting the help they need, one of the best players is traded.
Getting draft picks is good, but the players have to feel that things are getting better. Other than the progression of Montembeault and Slafkovsky, things have not really gone the way people had hoped for, and it must be discouraging for players.

From every player comment I have read about Monahan it seems clear that he was very well liked. It’s somewhat heartwarming to see this, even if it is a bunch of millionaires etc.
