Trade him for norris
I don't see him getting moved to a divisional rival. There will be some holes to fill in the Wings off season and some big contacts like Seider and Raymond will eat up some cap space and Berggren could be a low cost bottom/ middle 6 option and possible replacement for David Perron (unless he is resigned).
I'm all for Berggren being moved if he is part of a trade for a higher end defenseman or a center!
It's not pronounced CHICH-RUN! It's CHICK-RUN!!
Small sample size
Berggren and a 2nd round pick for Chychrun.
Winning trades lol what about the Petry trade lol
I'd offer the first round pick we received for Monahan to get this guy.
Ottawa looking for veterans. I don't see them going for Berggren when they are highly interested in Tanev
How we handled Berggren is one of my few criticisms of Stevie. He should have been with the Red Wings all season long, the same with Edvinsson, but Stevie signed to many free agents. Now when you look at the roster there really isn't a spot for him because he signed so many forwards. With our 2nd and 3rd lines pretty much set once Kane gets off IR, there really isn't a spot for him. He's not good enough for the first line and he would be wasted on the 4th line. Only reason he went in GR is that he didn't have to clear waivers. The same with Edvinsson. Playing in the AHL isn't doing him any good. It's only fair to him to trade him someplace where he play. Chychrun only makes sense if it would mean moving one of our defenseman not names Seider or Walman.
Montreal gets him for Jordan Harris.
Yes please I have his rookie card with piece of his game worn jersey.. it will gain value if he is traded to Montreal and finds a good fit with Montreal's top 6
For Sens, I can see a Berggren, Holl & pick for Chychrun. The Sens do want a veteran D man for the right side. No fan, on any NHL team, should be sold on Holl to fill that gap however, so I doubt Ottawa would do this. They should be able to get more for Chychrun especially with a year left on his deal.
Claude Giroux is too old to pick him up he is 36 years old and Berg is 23 years old. we have enough old players that need to go so we can bring up some young players. I would love it if Berggren could come and play in the NHL not be traded.
Berggy is our leading scorer in Grand Rapids! It’s going to have to be a king’s ransom!
Chychrun is an absolute stud if i was a contending manager I would 100% go after him IF my team could afford him.I don't see any reason why Ottawa would trade him you build your team around cornerstones like Chychrun.Having said that it is again cheaper to develope yoru own defensemen I have noticed a lot of good defense over recent drafts so it should be easy to find several good D if that is all your drafting.
I would like to keep Berggren, but it is worth finding out what we would get in a trade for him. Is one of these teams offering something that we fans would come to like even more?
If so, then make the trade. If not, then don't make a trade just to have made a trade.
Funny how we could have had Chyckun if bonehead Holland didn't trade down with AZ in the draft just so AZ takes on 1 year of Datsyuk's cap hit(after he retired). AZ takes Chychkun and 4 spots later we take Cholowski. I will never forget how mad I was. I still cant forget how he took Rasmussen over Vilardi either, but that wasn't nearly as egregious as Chychkun fell right into our laps.
Habs should offer 4th round for him. Nothing more.
Barron for Berggren
Habs don't want him 😮
Now watch Stevie flip Perron at the deadline and slot Berggie right in his spot.
I live in Grand Rapids. Berggren has looked "different" whenever I've seen him on the ice the past couple years. It was obvious which player he was without glancing at his jersey #…faster, better agility, etc. Edvinsson looks incredible at GR this year as well. Stevie has a full roster and prospect cupboard. He's likely to continue attempting DeBrincat-type deals where he's giving up players/prospects/picks to get one premium long-term guy.
Berggren is in GR because prospects are being over-ripened. However, I'm not sure OTT does that trade. That doesn't mean I'm not amenable to a trade, I just don't think OTT sends Chychrun to us under any circumstances.
I understand the frustration of seeing young players you like play in the AHL but its hard for me to blame a GM during a year when the Wings are greatly exceding expectations. They are in good shape to win a wild card. Do you think it is possible that Stevie Y knows how to do his job better than we do?
Here is a question, do you think Berggren would have greater trade value after the great season he has had in GR, or after half a season getting very few points on the line NHL roster? I think he gets a lot more interest as a young player that is getting great results.
no more smurfs needed in Montreal thanks.
Claude Giroux is not for sale. Get off your high horse Lego!!! 📢📣🔊
Ottawa doesn’t need another young player like Berggren… Ottawa needs more “veteran” type players that know how to win a game…. As for Montreal I am not willing to give up the assets that we would have to give to get em… I don’t believe his ceiling is high enough and Red Wing fans overvalue him… Montreal already has 3 players that could be just as good or better in the system Filip Mesar, Alex Newhook and Joshua Roy… Montreal needs a Top 6/Elite prospect and Berggren is not that… I really hope the Habs don’t trade for him because I have seen this movie before, Trade for a player and pass on a better player in the draft. 2023 they traded for Newhook to pass on Michkov so they could draft Reinbacher and as time went on I believe that was a good move because we didn’t have a Reinbacher level prospect in the system at RD… If you don’t have a RD like Reinbacher you can end up like the leafs, So good move, But I wouldn’t wanna trade for Berggren and pass on a player like Berkly Catton for example because Catton if he hits his potential is a 80+ point player… I think this trade doesn’t make sense for Montreal if we are gonna make a trade i believe it’s for a player like Kakko, Player that has size and fits well on the 3rd line… If Berggren was 6’1-6’2 I would be all for it but he’s 5’11 and does not have the upside to justify trading for him… I believe Berggren will be a good player but not for the Habs.
With the Redwings having just north of 13 million in Cap Space come deadline 😁 the Wings r definitely gonna improve the team 💪, the moves Stevie Y is gonna make r gonna shock the NHL world and the rumour guys , just watch 😁 , as a Wings diehard fan im very very excited to see what we add to push towards the playoffs
Wings can have Jake.
