  1. Leave it in Kanata. Build it beside the Palladium. Turn the palladium into mixed commerce. Bars restaurants. Climbing gym. A roller coaster. A shawarma palace. Add roads. Fix the parking. You already own the land.

  2. If the move is to boost attendence, I think it's based on a false premise. When the Team was great during the Spezza years and challenged for supremacy, the building was PACKED! Fans are hstting excited and now are returning to the rink. Under new Ownership, we have a renewed trust in the Team and the Franchise. Will the centralized location boist attendance…I'm not so sure. If you build it…they will come…so build an entertaing Team!

  3. No one discusses the fact the trend is for sports franchises to develop Entertainment Zones that drive significant revenue. See Atlanta Braves.

Where do the Senators have a lot of land… 🤔

  4. Fellas, just for an update on the train construction if you don’t follow it.

Lines 2 and 4 (South Keys and beyond, airport) are opening this year. The Orleans extension is opening next year (2025), and the extension to Algonquin College and Moodie is scheduled for late 2026, so possibly 2027. Check out the site Rail Fans Canada for photos.

Lines 2 and 4 construction is essentially done, now it’s more about testing. The Orleans extension is not too far behind schedule and even if it is delayed a bit, it’ll still open in 2025. The western portion is the most difficult, but the most complicated piece, a tunnel, is now being filled.

So folks from all those areas will be able to come into town from all those areas. Someone from Orleans will take the train straight to the arena. Someone from Barrhaven could drive to the last station at the south line (Line 2) and take the train into the city. Someone from Kanata can drive to Moodie Station and take the train. The NCC plot is between two stations, Pimisi and Bayview and one could walk to and from either. Also, there is a relatively new pedestrian/cycling pathway now connecting the two stations. Bayview Station is where Line 2 meets Line 1. The site Sutfcliffe mentioned, Bayview Yards, is next to Bayview station. Also next to Bayview, there is an old train bridge connecting Ottawa to Gatineau that was converted for walking/cycling. In theory, some folks from Gatineau could also take that bridge (assuming they do winter maintenance in the winter months), in addition to the Eddy Bridge.

Also, for some Lebreton is walkable from downtown, Little Italy, and Chinatown as well.

Ian Mendes talked about the library, the library is under construction (opening in 2026) and they have reached the top floor, it’s called Adisoke, you can Google pictures of that too.
A new tower is topped out as well near it, and two more are going to break ground this year. They are also renovating Albert Street so it will be upgraded by the time the library opens. So finally we are seeing more things happening at Lebreton. Just north of Lebreton, there is a new development called Zibi, which has a few buildings done and more to come.

I take the train every week and follow it pretty closely. Despite all the issues since opening, it’s been performing much better. They have fixed some of the initial issues and they seem to have learned its remaining kinks and how to deal with them better, a bit like Jacques Martin with the Sens haha

The best is yet to come!
