GAME RECAP: Penguins vs. Jets (02.06.24) | Jarry Earns Seasons 6th Shutout

After the All-Star break, the Pittsburgh Penguins played the Winnipeg Jets for the first of two matchups in five days. This was also a game with two milestones. Head Coach Mike Sullivan coached his 800th NHL game and Jake Guentzel played in his 500th NHL game. Guentzel also has 219 career goals entering his 500th game and is the most among all 2013 draftees through their milestone game. Near the halfway point of the 1st, Kris Letang collected the puck on the blue line. Seeing some space in front of him, he skated into the zone. Pulled the puck to his backhand and opened the scoring for the Penguins. With that goal, Letang reached the 30-point mark for this season and the 14th time in his career. At the start of the 2nd, the Jets took a major penalty and the Penguins took advantage. Halfway through the power play, Jeff Carter slammed the puck in on the backdoor for the Penguin’s second goal of the night. During the same major penalty, the Penguins scored a second goal. But this time it was Bryan Rust waiting on the backdoor for the tap-in. The Penguins took their 3-0 lead into the 3rd period. and kept it. The Penguins defended the Jets keeping them off the scoreboard. Tristan Jarry earned his 6th shutout of the season, breaking the three-way tie for most shutouts this season. The Penguins won 3-0.

  1. Hope Acciari is OK.
Got a bit dicey in the third but good job and response to hold the line.

  2. Good energy, lots of SOG, not one but two PP goals, solid goal-tending… Good omens? Acciari hit not withstanding… 😬

  3. Great win, only problem is that this is a rested team, give it 2 weeks, we will be wondering why this old team is flat again

  4. Pepper their tenders with softer shots and crash the net while 2 drop back to protect against the breakaway. Not as simple as said, but that's how they do it with limited defense.

  5. Why didn't you show the Dillon hit on Acciari or the discussion of the penalty? Pretty pivotal part of the game, no?

  6. I've been following Connor Hellebuyck's dad, Chuck, for years because of his 3D Printing Channel. Found out a month ago that Chuck is Connor's dad through his Dad's Trip posts with the team! Seem like good people, but happy Jarry go the shutout/win 🤘🤘

  7. Brendon Dillon should be suspended multiple games. The dude is a repeat offender and cannot control himself on the ice. I very much look forward to potentially not seeing him in the next matchup.
