The complete Boston Bruins trade deadline preview

Lowquality fans of a high quality Bruins team welcome back it is time it is time for that video every year which people don’t agree with or really do agree with it is the video that should be a podcast but it’s not because this is probably going to take an hour which we love

Anyway because it’s fun we have over 30 names that we’re going to mention for trade deadline targets the idea of what the team is going for has changed the first thing we’re going to talk about is what the Bruins actual objectives are what the Bruins aren’t doing we’ll come

After that what we actually have to utilize as trade bait and then we’ll get into the players and we’re going to do it in a bit of a different way this year we’re going to kind of go by teams that could be trade Partners but we’ll

Explain all that in a bit um the cards that I’m going to be using are Dom Lucan and Shaina Goldman’s from the athletic they are excellent excellent analysts over there I know the athletic gets all sorts of mixed reviews but I do believe that they do really good work and we’re

Going to go over how those cards can be read you’ll find time stamps below for you to jump around the video for whatever you are looking to get at but the first thing we need to talk about is what are the Bruins actually trying to do what’s what’s on the docket for them

At the trade deadline and depending on who you ask you actually get a variety of answers and including people close cl to the team than myself I Won’t Say I’m not talking to Sweeney but uh few different people that I’ve talked to their answers are all different they talk about uh getting top-of-the-line

Players they talk about dep players but there really is in my head only a couple ways to move forward with this deadline the first most obvious one is because Elias lindome and Shawn Monahan have already been traded and because the field for top six center help is is so

Weak right now at the deadline and financially it’ be extremely difficult to do assetwise it’ be extremely difficult to do um the number one priority realistic priority appears to be a top left defenseman to work with makoy now remember this guy doesn’t have to be Lind Holm and lindol is getting

Mixed reviews this year too but Lind Holm has is a top left defenseman is he an elite number one defenseman no but he’s a top left D he plays on our second pair because it makes sense for us who you want with makoy is a high-end second

Pairing guy up to a real top left D and I know a name’s already popping in you guys’ heads I’m sure you guys have a lot of names that are going to pop in your heads some of them I’m going to hate but I’d love to hear down below who your

Targets are some of them I bet I’ll really like uh there are going to be guys that aren’t mentioned in this video because the video can only be so long uh that you’re going to be like wow I’m really surprised he didn’t mention him if that’s true if that’s the case I

Looked at him I’ve looked at every single player in the NHL before this video and I just don’t love the option that was a really bold statement because I’m betting at least one of you can come out of the woodwork and be like him and I like damn I looked at the name

And then just kept moving and it didn’t come up so try to stomp me on that please so a left defenseman with term is their number one goal their next their number two objective would be a bonafide trigger man for the top nine preferably the top six this help would likely come

On the wing if they had the flexibility to play center great but that’s not going to be a huge option at the deadline like we’ve already mentioned so they’re looking for a top six Winger who scores goals he can be a streaky scorer that’s fine most players are outside of your Bonafide

Superstars but they need a guy who excels at putting the puck in the net yet the amount of facilitators we have in the top six is plenty we need another trigger guy so they don’t mind if it’s to a top nine guy and just gives them more options but they’re really looking

For a real goal scorer for their top six uh the third objective is to maintain cap flexibility this is a tough one because the team is extremely tight to the cap and next year although there’s a lot of cap space there’s a lot of work to be done too and there expensive

Players that we are hoping to resign from this season such as de Brusque Swan you know youve you’ve heard those names before so they’d like to maintain as much flexibility as they can they’re going to spend to the cap by the end of the deadline of course but each move

Can’t they can’t take on some sort of crazy contract and we’re going to talk about that with a couple of these players crazy contract that’s going to affect next year’s free agency class they can’t do it they want someone with term but they’re preferring to keep it somewhat team friend friendly none of

This should be shocking to you a lot of you probably sat there went yeah duh value they’re looking for Value yes their third objective is to make sure that there’s value in the deals and lastly a fourth and very very secondary objective fourth and secondary that

Doesn’t seem like it makes sense but you understand what I’m saying that is to recoup some draft capital I think what they’re going to do for this is if they could get get a fourth thrown in on a deal like the deal’s basically complete and like hey

Throw in a fourth and the other team’s like I want this deal okay fine just a couple more swings that’s all they’re looking for they’re not going to recoup a first or a second through this process or at least I really don’t think so because debras is not being

Traded they might just try to get a couple later picks because the team doesn’t have a lot of those to work with and by the time those later picks may be ready for the NHL contract slots should have expired out where we have the

Option to sign them uh we are we have a lot of contracts signed we have a lot coming off the books over the next couple years but we refill those quickly what the Bruins aren’t doing and this is something that might have a little bit of uh push back there’s always time to

Grab an undervalued guy right always time they’re not scrounging for more bottom six help if you look at this roster you can probably name nine guys that belong in our bottom six that are good enough to play solid minutes in the bottom six as Bruins fans we love to

Freak out about our Loos and our steens and even our bists the guy that he’s a fourth line guy like what are your expectations here but we have so many of them that scrounging for any more bottom six help doesn’t make sense especially if you’re going to spend assets to do it

The reason we talked about a top nine trigger man preferably top six is because it bumps a player like jvr down to the third line jvr has been really solid on the power play he’s a good trigger man down there but he doesn’t offer a ton as a top six fast movement

Kind of guy you’d love to bump him down to the bottom six you’re not looking to add another guy that keeps jvr up there and then forces out loo like loco might be part of a deal to bring someone in that changes that equation but still there’s just too many guys to already

Fill those roles they don’t feel pressured to go out and spend to upgrade marginally in the bottom six they are not looking for rentals this has been a long conversation with this team for years uh last year was the year to go for rentals this is not it

This is not the year for that cap wise it’s not going to make a ton of sense um Asset Management wise it’s not going to make a lot of sense the rental market is not going to be where we spend a lot of time unless we’re pretty damn sure we can

Resign and then lastly we had already metioned mentioned this but the big swing for A 1 C it’s not happening I’m going to break this rule when we talk about these players in fact I think I’m going to break every single one of these rules when we talk about the options

But this is just not out there is the problem go through every single team and ask yourself with every true one or two c on those teams a guy who could be a onec or 2C on a championship pedigree team go through every single team and either

They’re not as good as Coyle and zaka because there’s teams out there with Center not as good as those guys they are not going to be traded by those teams because they’re too important to that team or it’s literally financially impossible to pull off asset wise and

Cap space it’s not going to happen it just there’s less than a 1% chance so why are we even talking about it I don’t know I’m going to talk about it later though I’m gonna as for what we have to give up you’d be looking at so the 2025 first

Any smattering of picks behind that of course but that’s probably what teams are really looking for I think if there was a really smart team out there they’d love to take a look at our 2026 first not because uh I think we’re going to be a

Total mess by then but if you look at where the team might be a couple of years from now that’s a swing worth taking if I can’t get a pick in this year’s draft which we don’t have in the first round why not play the odds a

Little bit and say you know what top six protected 2026 first that’s what I want the odds of that being between seven and 15 really aren’t terrible a lot can happen in a couple years sure it could reverse on you but I think it would be interesting either way so picks are on

The table they prefer not to do it but that’s part of your collateral there lco and beer young players that some team might covet as having a lot of upside there’s some debate about how much upside these guys really have but other teams have their scouting programs if

They like them those guys should absolutely be on the Block some of you have mentioned debrusk I think you’re going to have a hard time upgrading from deus’s position I know we talk about him being streaky but I mean most guys who aren’t Superstars are streaky that’s

Just it and he plays an excellent 200 foot game he’s been very good defensively so I don’t think debras is gonna be one of your trade chips uh LEL is going to be for some sort of massive deal because he’s been on fire lately he’s looking like a point per game guy

Down the AHL they might really covet him as a as a middle six we’ll see how high he can get kind of guy um but they don’t want to move lisel it’s possible ptra is going to only come out in some sort of massive swing we’ll talk about a couple

Of those but really you’re looking at some of your depth guys being beer and Loco picks that’s about all you got that’s about all you got if you want to move Lori if you want to move lisel if you want to L move ptra is for a real

Deal that pushes this team into holy crap this is a legit cup Contender and of course your your other prospects but none of them are going to be very highly they’re not going to be worth a lot to another team merkulov although he’s been really good in the AHL there’s some

Debate about whether that will translate to the NHL uh the xelic is having a great call season contar is out there Harrison these are guys that might get moved as throwin on a deal but I can’t I can’t imagine a team is desperately trying to grab at them so let’s talk

About how we structur this today in previous Seasons I have gone with a hey here’s what fits for forward help here’s what fits for defensive help here’s the goal tending help even though we haven’t needed to talk about that one this year I’m a little more team oriented and what

I mean by that is I went team by team and I looked at their options options and I eliminated teams as trade Partners there’s a list of 11 teams I don’t know why I said 11 14 teams that are non-trade partners and that is either because they are not selling or they’re

Not selling anything that fit our current needs I’m just going to list them 15 teams the Kings the Canucks the Blackhawks the Maple Leafs the blues the coyotes the Devils the golden kns the Jets the Avalanche the Oilers the Stars the Panthers the Tampa Bay Lightning and

The Red Wings with the large majority of those you can very much understand they’re not sellers they’re not going to help out with anything that’s going on right now in this season they they want to keep their talent right where it is why would they move off of it the other

Teams such as the Red Wings or the blues or the coyotes teams that are On The Fringe there that are trying to make a push most of them just aren’t in the business right now of pushing Talent out of the room uh they want to make a push

This season they want to see if they can get close if they’re anywhere close to a playoff spot come the deadline they’re not not going to be big sellers although some of them probably should be uh but I don’t love the options I know Pan’s going to get thrown around I don’t like

The option I don’t like the option uh and then of course the Blackhawks just simply don’t have anything that we want they don’t other than like bottom six help that we’ve already talked about I don’t like those options and then you jump over to teams that have options but

I hate the option that would be the Hurricanes uh reportedly have Tony D on the trade block I don’t think Tony D’Angelo fits makes any sense for this team the flyers the surprising Flyers Scott lton has been uh has been kind of dangled out there but I don’t love the

Player and I don’t think that that makes a lot of sense for us Washington Capitals they’ve got ketov and mantha ketov just went to the player assistance program which hope he gets the help he needs and then mantha uh I think shrinks in big moments I don’t like the options

So another three teams that there just not a lot of interest in and then I’ve got three teams that I love these options but either the cost is way too high or the team’s likely not going to move him that’s the sabes with middle stat who really like 25-year-old RFA he’s playing

Top nine center right now he bounces around the lineups a little bit I would love to grab him the cost would be astronomical and I just don’t believe the Sabers are really excited to move on from him although there’s been rumors floating around about that the cost

Would be just insane the Islanders with Romanov uh I think he would fit in as our as our makoy partner pretty well but why would they trade them is the question they’re also trying to make a push should they be trading some of these guys yeah they also paid a pretty

Decent chunk to get him so they they automatically value him at that rate they’d want at least a first plus a prospect back I just that cost is going to be too high for an upgrade that I don’t think is substantial enough and then the Rangers and the Rangers you

Could easily fit into like why would they be sellers but Koko’s name keeps coming up in trade rumors problem is there two things that worry me worry me about this he hasn’t played great and when a player has that high of a pedigree and they’re underperforming and that team is

Ready to move off of them because not only is he underperforming but he’s underperforming with a support group with a support around him on the ice that surprises you that he’s not performing better he’s playing with dangerous enough players at times that it’s surprising he doesn’t end up with

More space or he doesn’t make more plays because it should be just a little bit alleviating on his game when you have these other highly Ted scorers near you so it worries me when kako can’t keep up with those guys it also worries me that he’s going to be traded based on his

Draft position which was second overall rather than on his player performance he’s very young he was was drafted very highly we’re still in that range where they’re traded based off of that the cost is going to be too high for a decent little risk there and then of

Course Eric gustofson who I really like and he’s playing on the third pair when that whole line is healthy when that whole defensive core is healthy but I just don’t see why they would move off from a valuable depth defenseman like that when they’re going for the cup so

That one doesn’t make sense either so that’s three more teams you can eliminate that leaves us with 10 teams to break down as trade partners and the easiest one is the Minnesota Wild we’re going to start right there because they have one option and it’s Middleton and

This guy to me is not enough of an upgrade it should be a really easy conversation but the reason I start here is because not only is it easy for me just to go eh doesn’t exactly fit what we’re trying to do here we’re going to

Go over the cards that you’re going to see Pop Up and how to actually read them real quick again if you already know you can just skip over to the to the next section but this is the card for Middleton at the top is an offensive and defensive rating compared to the average

NHL are at that position so a minus one offensive rating is a slightly below average offensive impact player a minus five is a bit more substantial individual rankings which is your second row is their individual impact the left column being what they are currently on

The pace for what to end the season with with goals assists whatever that may be uh and the right column are what the analytics say the likely end up with based on what they’re doing on the ice the on Ice row which is the third shows

How the team performs with him on the ice a minus six in goals means that team is on Pace to score six less goals than they would if an average defenseman was on the ice with them the minus 14 is allowing 14 more than they would W with

An average defender on the ice lastly in the bottom left you will see contract value that one’s pretty explanatory but they either bring Surplus value or they don’t compared to the average nhlr but there is one big asterisk here Middleton is playing 21 minutes a game some

Players we get to take into account that their minutes may be easier here or they could be harder for Middleton if we talk about the player I assume he gets moved with the low cap hit in steady hand even with the numbers looking pretty abysmal

On a team that can’t seem to get a save from their goenda that goalie’s continuously let in the probably wants that one back goals maybe just based on fatigue I’m not sure but it hasn’t been pretty Middleton should end up on a team that needs an upgrade to their second or third pair

But if we’re looking for someone who knocks gz down the lineup I just don’t see it being being him he would be a cheap fit he’d be an easy grab in my opinion but it doesn’t actually make this team better and I have trouble giving up assets for more of a lateral

Move in my opinion next team on the docket is the Nashville Predators who have two options they should start selling off a hell of a lot more than that but the first one’s Ryan MCD we talked about him in the past a few times and he wouldn’t be rental

Still got two more years on this deal and is still playing some damn fine hockey the dude’s good the dude’s cheda great responsibility in the defensive Zone shifts players with his first pass understands how to work a defense in transition just a really solid left defenseman strong on the puck just a

Great guy problem is he makes $6.8 million a year so not only would we need Nashville to retain which UPS the price but you have to hope that his game doesn’t fall off a cliff next year because you still got him for a couple more years and it’s not like his age is

Indicative of him continuing to be great there’s a risk with an acquisition like that and although I’m not completely out on that and he should not even with the retainment it shouldn’t be a crazy expensive get I really really struggle to see how this is really possible for

Us um but he is on a short list of viable options for that t top left defenseman spot based on the card what might scare you is how poor the team performs while he’s on the ice offensively but I I think a lot of that comes from how poor that team performs

Offensively just uh just throwing that out there the other option for the national predators is forsberg and this is insane right this is one of your top six Wingers puts the puck in the net fantastic offensively forsberg coil poock gives me a raging hard on everything about it sounds amazing

Amazing the price would be high the price would be so so high and it’s another big contract that will age poorly in about 3 to four years which we’re not really all that concerned with and I very much doubt that the Predators actually want to move the guy right they

Want to be competitive soon they’re still sort of competitive this year but it’s my video and I get to bring up unrealistic things sometimes this won’t be the only one he would fit immaculately the money makes it almost impossible to bring him in until the off

Season but if you could find a way to make it work this guy gives us a huge boost and I’m just curious what they’re actually doing in Nashville I make that call I make that call all day just being like hey what are you trying to do here

What are you trying to do if you’re if you’re looking for a first and leasel plus some a role player yeah cost would be higher than that because retainment would be necessary but I make the call just to see what’s going on and if you bump over speaking of calls just to see

What’s going on the Ottawa Senators is our next team with Shane Pinto another guy that we’ve talked about the call is going to be made he’s an RFA at the end of the season so he would remain under team control but this really only works

If he’s trying to force his way out if something about this whole situation this year makes him go screw Ottawa I don’t want to be here anymore and the agent has to know this might be why his agent has to know that arbitration being an RFA arbitration won’t go well

For him this year his talent deserves a real contract it does and if the Bruins brass believes that this guy is a true second line center for the next eight years 8 to 10 years I don’t mind moving really whatever we got to move to get him that isn’t affecting the current

Team there’s there’s a ptra deal in there somewhere that’s a scary deal genuinely highrisk High reward with this they have to know arbitration isn’t going to go well and if the Senators go this is great he gets suspended for half a year this year’s a total [ __ ] bust

Not great but we take him to arbitration all day and the Arbiter is going to be like ah you missed half the season because of off ice conduct whether that’s fair or not I don’t believe it is but that’s how that meeting’s going to go he’s not going to get the money that

He probably deserves or wants if he’s trying to force his way out and the Bruins can kind of be like hey we have the money to pay you next year pay you like a real amount I don’t know there’s a deal in there somewhere we will

Quickly get out bid by any other teams trending towards the end of their rebuild if it gets out that this guy’s trying to move so this would have to be a really under the radar kind of thing easy to make work for this season it’d be a tough one and the price would

Be high the other guy uh for the Senators which is of course you’re thinking of him is uh Chan he has not looked great in a senator’s uniform he hasn’t been terrible by any means but just compared to what they thought they were getting offensively he’s still very strong

Defensively he hasn’t looked good at all I think you can make that argument that the lack of structure and just the abysmal management of that senator’s team something’s wrong there there’s too much talent on that team for them to have a season like this I know there’s been injuries and but something’s wrong

Over there if they’re thinking about all right maybe CH doesn’t fit exactly how we’re trying to do things let’s move him the price would be huge don’t get me wrong don’t get me wrong but he’s a natural fit next to MAV boy he doesn’t break the bank this year or next so he’s

Not a true rental he would be one of those that would be one of those pairings where like if Lind home and makoy was a constant pigging incredible the ability to stretch the ice with either Defender just Precision passing however they need to to get the puck

Out it would be a natural fit and it wouldn’t break the bank for a couple years would be a great get for us like I mentioned the cost is going to be massive it’s going to be massive even though he’s having a Down Season and defensively even though his numbers look

Bad for this year I really think it’s much better than than what he’s shown in Ottawa little bit of wishful thinking there but that’s another guy that i’ be looking at but it’s likely going to cost one of your top prospects along with some picks um and probably a role player

God the prices these days for mid-season trades are pretty nuts do you guys want to take a break from like actual options for a second what about the Penguins I’ve got four options with the Penguins none of them feel like they’re actually happening right what are your thoughts

Honestly what are your thoughts Riley Smith bring him home strong addition to the middle six not a rental as he is one more year at 5 million shouldn’t be overly expensive due to a somewhat underwhelming season and if the Penguins struggle over the next month I wouldn’t

Be surprised to see him being one of those guys that’s moved because the value for them is hey we need to move some cap we need to create some more flexibility we need to get some assets back this penguin Squad is weird I don’t know if they’re going to blow it up I

Don’t think they’re going to blow it up but this is an easily movable guy right now with the season he’s having in my opinion and it would bolster us it wouldn’t be bad I I think it’d be a little bit of a a laboring contract to

Have but he’s solid and he’s only got a couple years left on that deal I would like this option I would love the option of Marcus Peterson exceptionally unlikely due to the Penguin’s current stance and how they move forward but there’s a few there’s few assets on that team that are

As attractive as Peterson not physically not physically that guy’s a kind of a dork that’s all right strong on both ends of the ice excellent first touch ends up being a huge improvement over Grizz and allows makoy to play his game without second guessing anything about

His partner the cost would be high as he sits on a team friendly deal for this year and next I’d expect our 2025 first plus a young role player lisel beer um yeah that’s there there’d be a few assets going that way they would probably be wishing for more of like a

First leel and Freddy kind of deal over beer but you’d really prefer to keep the current team in intact as much as you can uh I think I’m stuck in wishful thinking I think it’s going to cost even more than that if we’re going to be real

But it solves such a problem for the rest of the year and allows lorai to slowly work his way into that top Fair pair over the next season um it just would be such a great fill for that gap on the left D what makes this most

Unlikely is he’s so valuable he’s so valuable to a Penguins team that believes that they can compete and with the high-end Talent they have on that team they should they should if their power play wasn’t [ __ ] they’d be well in a playoff position right now it’s weird

To even say their power play is bad but it is and then the other two options are going they’re the same story and you’re gonna say someone’s gonna say them Crosby and gensel gensel is looking for a Monumental contract extension at the end of the season along with a few guys

That we’ve we probably going to talk about but he would certainly solve a scoring issue in the top six a lot of you are going to point out our top 10 offense I I’m with you on that but we rely on streaky scores being streaky on

Countering times jvr pots a bunch for a week and a half then Freddy’s turn then it’s deus’s turn and gensel is going to be such a consistent scorer in our top six the problem is financially making it work this year It’s Tricky not impossible but why would the Penguins

Move off of him for anything other than a king’s Ransom and it looks like Edmonton is willing to give up whatever is not nailed down to get this guy every report I’ve seen is gel to Edmonton every single one so unless some team that thinks they’re one piece away but

Isn’t throws everything on the table for this guy he’s going to be wearing an Oilers sweater by March 9th that seems pretty clear to me Crosby on the other hand will never play a game in a different sweater it’s just not going to happen do I want it to happen a little

Bit kind of I think it’d be hilarious if Sid the Kid ended up being a Bru and won the cup with us that would be hilarious to me I hate Sid the Kid I am a Bonafide hater I’ve got my license around here somewhere hater of Sid the Kid right

Right up there with the Kings I’m a hater but I’d love to have him on my team what am I what am I going to lie to you about that what I’m going to lie neither of these are happening they’re just not am I making the call about both of them

100% I am because it’s just fun options just a fun option you know one of the more interesting names on this list is from the Seattle Kraken where we have Jamie alexc who I don’t I don’t know if it really fits I feel like I have to

Talk myself into it but by the time I’m done talking myself into it he’s kind of like one of my favorite options like I like I like alexx game he’s Dependable defensively takes a few too many penalties but has given difficult assignments and seems to keep the ey

Steady when he’s leaned on not a negative impact player offensively and what kind of sticks out to me and I know this is contradict something I previously said but him on the ice the team has way better offensive results even though he doesn’t actually get a

Touch in the actual box score for it he’s on the ice the team s tends to score more there is value to a guy who makes the pass that creates the entire Domino chain leading to the goal he doesn’t score a lot he doesn’t get the puck past the first Defender a

Lot those things all admit flat out and that’s something a big big issue with me is but he does keep the puck moving well and his breakouts are clean do I think this is a massive upgrade for us no but I do think it’s an upgrade I think he

Would look good next to makoy uh and there’s just value and a guy who’s steady and consistent and I think that’s something that with grizzli when we talk about upgrading that position is one of our biggest complaints is he’s not he’s not steady he’s not consistent there

Is a feeling of I don’t know what I’m going to get from him this game this season that I think all of us have felt outside of the ozone he just plays a really nice game he’s not a rental he’s got 4.6 mil for the next two seasons

After this one so it’s not breaking the bank by any means if the asking price isn’t crazy this is a guy I make a call on and I wouldn’t hate to see him brought in as just another option on that left side that might be a bit of an

Upgrade uh Grizz would have to go back the other way just based on the money anything over a couple million is really hard for us to navigate right now and I can’t see Seattle retaining any money on this one uh so we’ll mark this one down

As yeah I’d like to see it happen I it’s not my favorite option but it’s an interesting option for us the next team we’re going to get to is the Anaheim Ducks which is our favorite trade partner over the last couple of Seasons really they have five options in my

Opinion and they’re going to be kind of quick the first one being a guy that everyone keeps bringing up in Adam Henrik and my question is why why honestly why I I don’t why he’s a pure rental he’s old older he’s having a strong season but doesn’t upgrade this

Team by a ton you wouldn’t consider him displacing zaka or coil as like some sort of big upgrade in the middle six we’re talking about him because he has become this consolation prize with lindol and Monahan shipped out and the Bruins are going to get mentioned the

Bruins are going to get mentioned in the Adam Henrik sweep Stakes why is a short-term option that isn’t a large upgrade why I don’t get it somebody decipher this for me I don’t get it it doesn’t make a ton of sense and then you have silverberg right behind him here’s his

Card uh same exact question as Henrik but less of an upgrade we’ll move on Ryan stro there’s an argument here because he’s only costing 5 million year and being signed for three more seasons would likely look a lot better on a Bruins team than he has on the Ducks and would likely be

Very cheap because he’s looked really bad on the Ducks but the risk that he doesn’t bounce back at the cap hit he has is pretty substantial when he hasn’t been better than Coy or zaka for the past two years there’s plenty of reason to go maybe that’s just a bad contract I

Don’t make this move but if I’m looking at my analytics team and going I want you to thoroughly Scout through stro and figure out does this guy bounce back or not and I would trust my team on it I haven’t watched enough of him this year

Because why would I spend a lot of time watching the Ducks outside of their early season Shenanigans so I’m not the right guy to answer that one stro is a guy that you should at least take a look at but he’s probably not my move Frank

Vrono you’re asking me to buy high on Frank vetrano’s career year that’s going to be a no that’s that’s going to be a no for me thank you for trying though the big name the big name from the Ducks is Trevor zis finally some Intrigue in this video huh

22-year-old Center who shown flashes of super stardom but is struggling due to injuries in the front office that seems to not think of him as the guy for the future of this team uh I don’t know if that’s really a reasonable thing to say that he’s struggling because of that

Actually now say it out loud but this is a classic highrisk High reward as there is no lowball in the Ducks for him he would at very least cost your 2025 first Patra Freddy and one of laui and lisel maybe another prospector pick in there too that’s a lot here’s the thing

If he maxes out his potential you just grab your all important franchise 1C if he doesn’t well you just gave up basically everything you had in the farm so that you could get a middle six scorer who’s G to struggle to play the system that the coach implements because

That’s one of the bigger complaints about him personally I’d stay away from it I’d stay away from it but if that deal is a little lower if they went oh no we’ll take a a first and Patra for Zas never in no way are they doing that but if that’s what

They wanted to do that’s something I pull the trigger on this guy has way too much potential to sit on your ass about it is he a perfect player no is he a sure thing absolutely not I I really think he’s going to look a lot better on another Squad uh change

Of scenery might be a big thing for him it’s worth making a call how much are you willing to actually give up for this guy it’s not the first package I don’t think I’m there I don’t think I’m there I feel like I’m trying to make a

Quick fix just spend everything get this guy in the door and I’m not even sure about him but but man is it tempting it’s really tempting the coil zaka tandem is not they’ve been great this year and our offense has been really solid and there’s just so many numbers

That make you go we’re overperforming in some ways there’s some concerns it’s a fun call to talk about though the sharks are your next team the West Coast man just start picking them dry Seattle Anaheim San Jose the first guy I want to talk about and this is just for me you

Can skip this part Leon I’ve said it for every year in the past three years he breaks a depth rule that I made earlier but this guy belongs on a contenders third line I swear he is not as bad as the sharks have made him look that being

Said he’s been butt cheeks for a couple of years now he has been he’s been forced to the lineup multiple times healthy scratches I think he’s an excellent addition to A team’s third line I think he’s really good and I don’t have a lot to back that up at this

Point you’d likely get him for free I watched this guy be such animportant addition to lines to really push the puckup ice and he just was never trusted and the little mistakes he made turned into mohill the mountains I think this guy belongs in

The NHL on a third line on a really good team if they’re giving him away I’m making a call that’s all I’m saying I’m making a call the next thing I’m going to bring up I’m only saying because one of you [ __ ] is going to mention him

You’re not an [ __ ] I love you platonically Mike Hoffman is not a winning hockey player I don’t care what anyone says I don’t care about the years with the sends and all those points he scored he’s a good stats bad team guy he’s an NBA player in

Disguise he will get his points he will skate around that’s it never ever suggest him as an option in a Boston Bru sweater he is not a winning hockey player he is he would crumble under the weight of the spoked B responsibility 200 foot game play for the

Team absolutely not Mike Hoffman is not a winning hockey player he believe he belongs in a a Toronto sweater not a Boston sweater don’t mention him to me don’t do it duclair is one of my favorite options this is an option that I really really like I don’t think he’ll

Be very expensive I think he’s looked at as a guy to just kind of get out the door get a couple of assets back some mid- round picks maybe a depth Prospect a b Prospect he’s a strong offensive game should make our transition game even deadlier where I believe about 30%

Of our goals come from that but the way he plays with speed his vision he can play anywhere in your top nine and I think he would look particularly good on a line with Freddy and jvr but I can see him working well with a lot of our forwards defensively he certainly has

Some issues it would likely be a rental which is a bummer so he’s breaking a bunch of rules here so the fit isn’t perfect but I can’t imagine the price being ridiculous I really can’t a middling pick and a middling Prospect someone with a little bit of upside that

You could send their way I would trade beer for him I I wouldn’t be worried about that at all but I’m not a big beater guy I think beer is going to be a good fourth liner in the NHL but I think that’s his ceiling I think it would be a

Nice way to add a little talent for this run if you could extend him for a reasonable price great but this is a guy that I’m making a call on and I I really think he ends up in a Bruins uniform I think this is a guy that we grab

Honestly uh I told you I was going to break some rules in the beginning so you can’t be mad at me you can’t be like hey he breaks like four of your rules I don’t care that’s he’s one of my guys another one of my guys the guy if you’ve

Watched this channel for the past couple of years toas hurdle is a name that you’ve heard I’m sorry I know I I felt the collective grown I felt it I I genuinely apologize he’s our onec man he’s a real onec this year he’s struggling because everybody on that sharks team is he’s

Great offensively he’s solid defensively he would look so good next to pasta for the next six years his contract makes it virtually impossible to get this done midseason I’m still making that call in the offseason are they going to ask ask for a crazy amount

Of assets for him I don’t know I don’t know how much are they like hey we need do we need to get him off the team to make sure we bought him out properly no there there’s value there he’s going to cost a first he’s going to cost a good

Prospect he’s going to have a real package come back for him almost impossible to do midseason but damn I just I wonder where the sharks are with this guy you should suck right now he doesn’t fit your time frame at all he’s 30 years old you guys

Aren’t going to be good in the next couple of years what are we doing you’re just wasting this career come on I’m just begging give him to us just come on look here’s the truth him being in a bruin sweater before the deadline is closer to 0% than it is to

1% but I’m making the call that’s all I’m saying I’m saying that about a bunch of these players I’m making the call I think he’s brilliant and I want him I want him I want I want it’s so rare I feel like we get these trades for a guy

Who’s an excellent player but has a billion years left on his contract a contract that the last couple of years of probably aren’t great right but the teams never trade for this guy because that other team goes we could be competitive in a couple years he could be

Useful really do you think the sharks are going to be competitive in a couple years honestly we never see these trades a guy with six years left on his contract who a top six guy move him move him to us specifically to us give them to us please future

Considerations you want to talk about the Habs because I don’t but I do want to talk about this one player Mike Mat insanely expensive you can put him directly in the same category as Marcus Peterson this is exactly the type of team controlled whole filling upgrade that the Bruins are hoping to score

Mat’s offensive game has been fantastic the past couple of seasons and although he has some holes defensively the primary purpose of him would be ozone and power play there’s some pause as the power play has already been pretty impactful this season and you’d hate to force makoy to be looking over his

Shoulder something that I’ve criticized other Defenders on this list for but I believe he’s a big upgrade over Grizz I I think he’d be a more stable partner for makoy than what he’s currently working with the cost is probably too high for us to truly consider it but he’s definitely a guy

That is fits the mold of what this Bruins team needs and I’m wondering for Montreal him being 29 years old where do they see him futurewise are they going to try to just gain assets um he is not a true rental so is there a deal that can get made

That doesn’t break the bank it’s definitely a guy that i’ I’d be considering I really scoured through the Habs a lot and that’s about the only deal that made sense in my brain something that helps the Bruins but the Habs may also be willing to do uh his

Price would just be very high and then you get to the last two teams and they’re two teams with multiple options but they’re on just the same wavelength of it’s a change of scenary trade right the first one is the Calgary Flames who have Nas cadri who is a great 2C he’s a

Great 2C genuine excellent offensively plays a hard-nosed game defensively is solid he’s not going to wow you but his numbers are strong if the only thing with him is if I’m going to give up the kind of assets that Calgary wants for this guy for a contract I know is going

To age poorly and has many years left on it I’m just going to spend the extra for hurdle right like if you’re already going to give up all these assets for a 33y old who’s a really strong 2C it probably doesn’t take that much more to get Hurdle from the Sharks right

Obviously hurdle’s the better option at that point though with the amount you’re giving up solve the problem truly solve it boom one C done for the next six years done kre doesn’t fit that mold but I bet he’s a team that I bet he’s a player that teams are calling about the other

Couple of interesting guys we’ve got kzco who they just acquired from the Canucks the card still says the Canucks on this I like this idea I didn’t like the idea a week ago but I’ve started to see it in a different light you have a chance to bring in what should be a

Consistent middle six scorer a middle six 20 goal scorer every year should probably hit around 20 goals obviously he’s not on Pace for that right now this guy will never hit 39 goals again because he had almost 30% shooting percentage that season a more normal shooting percentage that season he’s

Probably at like 16 goals the guy has the talent to be an excellent trigger man though in the middle six roll with real players around him fitting A system that benefits him there some concerns wait why is Vancouver playing so well but you couldn’t find your way into that system

After having a almost 40 goal campaign regardless of the parameters around it is there some risk here absolutely but if the Flames are just trying to Asset Management this and kind of flip him at the deadline for another couple of assets I think it could be a good little

Get for the Bruins as a depth option again we’re breaking rules a little bit here uh and it’s not like he signed forever he has one more season on a deal that’s a little too rich I don’t know I think that’s a really interesting take I assume Calgary wants to have him for

That final year hopefully they can bolster his value a little bit and then ship him out for another Hall much like the Habs just did with Monahan uh but it’s definitely a guy that you would be considering the other two for the Flames are defenseman as you would expect tanv

Is a name that a lot of people have been mentioning to me I honestly guys why he’s going to be coveted by teams who want that hard-nosed Defender steady eats minutes against other teams top lines defensive defenseman isn’t a disaster offensively by any stretch of the imagination he’s also a true rental

Will cost more than you want to want to spend on him and he plays on the right side I I don’t I don’t I don’t know why that would be a Bruins fit I don’t really get that one I like the player it just you’re you’re spending a lot to

Upgrade the third pair man like a like a lot cuz makavo Carlo aren’t going anywhere but there’s one you like there’s one that you really like that you’re real excited about Noah Hanahan with an extension that’s the trick right with the extension he is the guy he’d be an

Excellent partner to makoy because he excels in every aspect of the game he’s a huge upgrade over Grizz he’s really good offensively really good defensively strong on special teams but doesn’t require Power Play Time by any means to get him it’s a 2025 first the 2025 first

That we have and a prospect would have to be included included the prospect depends on is Hanahan forcing his way to Boston he doesn’t have a full no movement Clause so he can’t truly Force his way there but if he goes I’m only extending with Boston I will not be part

Of any other team after this season because they can still trade him wherever but he could tell that team like I’m not resigning with you I’m going to Boston helps our odds and all of a sudden that’s a 2025 first and a b-level prospect not bad for a guy that you

Would love to have on your team long term there is a concern how much money does he want you currently have next year you have makoy at 9.5 you’ve got Lyn to at 6.5 right 6.5 Carlo at 4.1 I want to say I don’t know the

Numberers right in front of me but three of your defensemen who are locked in for long term longest term Carlo’s only got a few more years cost you just about 20 million just over 20 million are you able to bring this guy in sign him longterm which would likely

Be a$6 to7 million contract the way things are going you have 27 million tied up in your defense with two more slots to fill yeah Lor’s cheap next year great you’d have to go cheap on your third right D2 but all of a sudden you’re sitting on 30 million for six

Guys on the back end you have a goenda where where’s all the money for the forwards you got 12 guys up there that need to get paid now obviously you don’t have 12 guys that need to get paid but you know what I mean I love the idea of a hannahan makoy

Uh pairing for the next five or six years I love it I have no problem giving hannahan a six year or seveny year deal I have no issue with that if it’s bad in the last two years of deal who gives a flying [ __ ] that’s that’s a great top

Pair with lindol Carlo right behind them that’s awesome we’d have one of the best defense top fours in the league can we afford it can we afford it how much offense is going to have to be driven directly through postero how fast is the cap going to go

Up I think we can do it I think we do it but damn man that’s that’s a tough situation you have to find real value offensively if ptra looks like a 2C next year at 20 years old still on his ELC contract everything becomes way easier if you have anybody if lorai

And ptra and beer takes a step forward if you have these guys lel’s ready for the league merula’s ready for the league if you can go into next year being real young but still competent then you you can stretch this out for a couple years till the cap is

All of a sudden 97 million and you go oh these contracts don’t look like an issue anymore we can find Value we’re fine but but if next year you’re requiring bringing more guys in real guys in you’re in trouble immediately with a contract like this on the

Back I think it’s worth it I think the deal in all likelihood is going to be a first and it’s going to include lorai and a smattering of something else because I don’t think Hannah fin is going to properly Force his way here and it’s going to take a little

Extra for the extension are you willing to give that up time to talk about my favorite team for this at number 10 the Columbus Blue Jackets there is no team in the league that I believe a change in scenery would matter more for players there’s not a

Single one you name any team in the league I go Columbus every report from that team this year has been this [ __ ] sucks this is [ __ ] the nhlpa just roasted the Arizona Coyotes for their horrible working conditions the locker rooms and the arena and the the the travel

Everything awful an F minus terrible I would still rather play for them than the Columbus Blue Jackets right now The Vibes in that City are horrendous it’s awful who would have thought that the great state of Ohio would struggle to put I can’t uh sorry Ohio uh I hate you it’s fine

Not everyone in you but you as a place I’m just not a fan of Ohio the first name I want to talk about is proov I genuinely don’t love this one I think he makes this is going to contradict some things I think he makes mvoy look over his shoulder a

Bit too much defensively I just don’t love him I don’t love his effort which is a hell of an accusation but I don’t I think he puts in the same kind of effort shift to shift I would not assume that changes on a Bruins team that has higher

Aspirations because even though you want to assume well this is it’s like going to the big leagues from Columbus to Boston right now a little insulting to Columbus but let’s be honest here it still doesn’t motivate everybody it just doesn’t he’d be a pure rental I’m sure

Of that uh and I think the cost would be higher than you want to pay for a guy who’s going to stick around for a couple of months and you might not be that impressed by he’s a guy that I’m sure is going to be on the lips of a lot of fans

A lot of people are going to be talking about him he’s just not good enough in my opinion just not good enough speaking of not good enough Jake Bean this is a me thing let’s be honest it’s a me thing I think Jake Bean is a good hockey

Player I don’t have a lot of stats or analytics to back that up because um he doesn’t have those but he’s an RFA at the end of the season so he remains under team control he’s currently getting shelled in Columbus but I’ve watched him enough to have a high

Opinion of him in his game he doesn’t exactly fix anything with the current team but if you could get him in as a throwin for one of these other deals that we’re going to talk about he is used to playing as offside I think he’d be a great cheap long-term third right

Defenseman for this team so if you can get him just say hey what you know toss a little Jake Bean at me just come on grab him just grab him I think in the long run you’d be really happy you did but there’s two options on this team

That I genuinely love and it’s short-term help but it just makes all the sense in the world to me boon Jenner now this isn’t real short-term help Boon Jenner has signed for two more years at an incredibly team-friendly deal he doesn’t wow you offensively but he holds

His own and he puts the puck in the net would look particularly good in my opinion next to marshand who’s a full facilitator this year he’s scoring obviously but it feels like Marian wants to make the pass Boon Jenner isn’t a guy who’s afraid to shoot the puck he plays

A responsible 200 foot game even if you wanted to bump him down to a second or third line he’d probably be a 2C on this team but if you knocked him down to the third line centering that Squad oh my God see you got jvr and Freddy next to

Him or even I don’t even know you can work him in with a lot of different guys I think he’d look great Columbus would be insane to give him up for anything other than a king’s Ransom based purely on the fact that he’s a very talented Center and he’s on an

Incredibly cheap deal he’s a great asset to keep around I want him I want to know what it takes to get him I want to know if the Columbus Blue Jackets will continue to Fumble the bag so badly that they go you know what good he’s

Gone there’s no way right there’s no way but what does it take what does it take to get him all that being said Columbus is fumbling the bag in a different way I don’t think they’re going to give him uh give him up I don’t think it would be

For anything cheap I think it’ cost real assets to get this guy and a bunch of them because I think Columbus is fumbling the bag in the opposite direction where they’re overvaluing everything they have and think they’re a year away from competing it’s not pretty over there if

We can rest Boon Jenner I’m going for it and a guy that should be substantially cheaper is Jack rosic I talked about him last year too he’s a bit of a Reclamation project but he needs a change of scenery maybe more than any player in the entire NHL and he may get

It this off season he’s a UFA at the end of the year so there’s a chance he’s a rental and he struggled this year on both ends of the ice but two years ago this guy looked like he was stepping up into a true top six center and then

Completely stalled and it’s stalled for a bunch of reasons but the Vibes in Columbus are terrible and I don’t think anyone benefits getting out of there as much as rosv I just said that I’m going to keep repeating that can you get him for a sign and trade deal this is the

Sneaky move this is the one can you go out there and go hey he’s walking you know he’s walking absolutely and he doesn’t do your team any good this year he really doesn’t like you’re not you’re not pushing for anything he doesn’t do any other team any good this year

Including us the way he’s playing right now he doesn’t actually bolster your chances this season right hey we’re going to give you an asset to retain some salary other than that sign him to a 2-year 3 million aav deal and we’ll give you another b-level prospect send them

Our away just get something for the guy he costs us 2 million this year we find a way to make it work we put him in their bottom six and then through the next year or two we see if he can step back into that potential I just think

It’s a great great bit of business and it would be great asset management if I’m going to walk away with my perfect trade deadline and this kind of finishes the whole video for us the perfect realistic trade deadline it is Noah Hanahan it is Duke Clair and it’s

Rosic that is what I’m walking away with going okay I have extensions for both hanifen and rosic in place I have duclair who had like to extend we have a little bit of help this year the team becomes far more stable throughout that’s the look that’d be a huge trade

Deadline for us in all realistic expectations you get one of those moves and if you can only do the rosic move it turns into much more of a debate is this worth it or should we just wait till the offseason and see if we can sign them

What I want from you guys if you’ve watched all the way through this massive video I would like you to tell me who did I miss who do you want to see at the trade deadline in the spoked B and maybe I’ll do a follow-up video where I go

  1. Do you see them bringing up Lohrei to fill that left pair with McAvoy? They play well together. Sure, Lohrei can be a liability but he's NHL ready and would rather see them pick up some more firepower on the top 6. Also, can we see Frederick on second line!

  2. DeBrusk on a 1-2 yr incentive heavy contract…to prove he deserves a LT contract…his overall, 200ft game has been sound. Need to get lines solidified, instead of picking out of a hat…what line is he on next shift???
