Hi to oilers nation from Germany, today I could support my team live, but it didn't work! After 16 wins in a row we lost. I could tell a lot what doesn't worked in this game but it reduce it to one cause, 31 shots on goal only 1 goal!!! This is a terrible result, not NHL like. Nothing more to say! Surely it isn't fair to tell it as hard as I do, but the last 16 games we had a much better result in scoring than today. So I feel sad because we didn't have to loose this game. A historic stream ends unfortunately. Cheers from cold and snowy Germany early in the morning, hope for better results next time…😞
Definitely a sad day, but I knew we were going against a hot and difficult team. That second period was well played by the oilers, just were up against a goalie that came to play apparently. But proud of the boys for what they have accomplished!! Makes me proud to be an Oiler fan!! Corey Perry looked pretty good again, once him and Holloway find their chemistry, I foresee that being another deadly duo . Both similar mentalities it seems.
Good game , Vegas got the bounces . Drai doesn’t look 100%. Liked 97’s after game interview. Showed the real focus. Stew was good again. Nurse deserved the third star. No shame in the streak ending. 16 in a row was a great accomplishment. Hill was great as well as his post. Bouchard dented the inside. Enjoy Florida.
Long post follows with base game statistics including some for the Vegas Golden Knights. Read, don't read, up to you. These are BASE stats not detailed ones. My comments at the end.
Statistics for Edmonton Oilers at Vegas Golden Knights February 6th, 2024
Oilers:
McDavid 1 Goal (Shortie)
Draisaitl 1 Primary Assist (Shortie)
Desharnais 1 Secondary Assist (Shortie)
Skinner 23 Saves on 25 Shots = .920 Save %age (58 minutes played)
The streak ends but it didn't end ugly. After a looooooooooong periods of time off (think it was 9 full days) Hockey resumes. Oilers PK still at 100% and they got a shortie (McDavid / Draisaitl, predictable, boom back of the net). Adin Hill was outstanding in this one. Skinner wasn't chopped liver but Hill was great. Oilers needed more scoring and only got the one shortie. Still, it wasn't horrible all things considered though there are a few numbers that speak to me. VGK with 26 blocks to the Oilers 17. VGK 12 takeaways to the Oilers 2 are the biggies. The streak is over but now they can just turn around and start another one. Take care all.
That stupid all star break killed their heater like I thought it would! And of course they HAVE to play Vegas! They love to play spoiler and that Hill smh .
Goes to show the Oilers will still loose to Vegas in the playoffs. Plenty of great chances not buried in the net. Also as someone said Draisatl looks somewhat injured.

Honestly out of every team, to take the streak I’d prefer it to be Vegas
I’m okay with this loss. Winning 16 consecutive games is incredibly hard to accomplish.
I’m confident that we’ll start another long win streak.
Oilers gotta pick themselves up after this loss and go on another 16 win game streak
Unfortunate. Really wanted to see that win. Offense looked super meh. Really need the big boys to step it up.

Bouchard ceci were not good !
It’s kind of unfortunate the all star game happened when it did because the Oilers were rolling. Let’s go on another long winning streak.
