He was so underrated and under-appreciated. It’s so hard to push the goat out the door, who was clearly past his best. Many fans were bitter and didn’t like him. Devils wasted an elite goalie for 4 or 5 years. So consistently great. Not even Sorokin or Shesterkin have had a 5 year consecutive stretch like he did.

Prime Cory was top tier talent, it’s a shame that our losing record caused lots of people to overlook him.

Cory was amazing. Such a good guy. Always wished we had a better team in front of him. We wasted a lot of money on traitors during that period

Andy Greene, Adam Larsson, Sevo, Jon Merrill, John Moore, Zid the kid, Zajac, Rico. “Those rosters” is an insult to the defensive capability of those teams that could not score for shit. Not taking any love from Coreigh who was amazing, but those teams arguably have better defence and much worse offence than this seasons team.

  5. Cory would’ve been considered one of the greatest ever if he played for a competent team.

  6. Scoring was way down those years but he was absolutely elite

If we had him in his prime, now, I don’t think we would lose if we tried.

  8. He was great and it was generally a really good time for good goaltending throughout the league

If we had even a halfway decent team in front of Cory he would have won multiple Vezinas and be in the HOF convo, the only thing holding him back was team results.

  10. Lou had a big part in destroying him.

68 games in 14-15 is absolutely inexcusable.

I watched a Devils vs Canucks game back then when I was younger and Schneider was in net for the Canucks. I remember him playing really well for them and left me kind of amazed. This was when Brodeur was definitely declining in performance but I remember jokingly saying the Devils should get that guy to play for us. Not too long after that they did. Got his jersey afterwards and always loved him even when others didn’t because of that “I was right” kind of moment. But looking back at his numbers with the team we had at the time makes me appreciate him even more. I’m glad others are changing their minds too.

Corey back then with this team now would be unstoppable..

I was literally having this discussion with some pool buddies the other day. The 14-15 season where he put up a .925, our top player scored FOURTY THREE POINTS. Goals for Coreigh wasn’t just a slogan, it was a fucking prayer.
