The Winnipeg Jets Receive Sean Monahan from the Montreal Canadiens. Montreal Canadiens receive a 1st round pick in 2024 and a conditional 3rd round pick in 2027 if Winnipeg Jets win a Stanley cup. Monahan will help fill a much needed hole in centre depth along with Mark Scheifele and Vladislav Namestnikov.

  1. OH MY DAYS. Of course. I hope he can help our pp. A 1st is crazy ngl but I really hope that we continue to trade for guys that help us in the push for the playoffs

  2. I think this was the market rate for top-6 centers right now. Do I wish it hadn't been quite so steep? Yeah. Am I really surprised it did cost a first? Not at all. We didn't give up any prospects and Monahan COULD be what we needed. I think the most interesting aspect of this is how fantastic this asset management was on Montreal's side! Two 1st-rounders for Monahan – that's crazy value they can leverage later.

  3. Given that Monahan will be nearly as productive as Lindholm, this is an absolute steal. Chevy shopping in the bargain bin again. Love it.

  4. The thing I dislike about this trade is that it screams panic move by Chevy. Usually Chevy doesn't operate like this. He is patient and usually finds players that no one is talking about and is a great fit for the Jets. Example Nino at the deadline last year. So I think that they were really in on Lindholm and they knew they needed a 2C and panicked. the one good take away I am taking from this trade is that with Monahan being solid on faceoffs might mean more ice time for Perfetti and Ehlers.

  5. Worse case Ontario he's a 4th line centre or in the press box…he's only had 3 + season in his 11 year career and been a minus in Calgary and Montreal over the past 5 seasons…so hopefully Bones and the Jets culture turns that around for him, as we are defensively strong up front right now as a unit.

  6. If Monahan stays healthy this is a great trade for Winnipeg but he has a plagued history of injuries and his hips are finished.

He is great at faceoffs, good passer and has decent impact on the powerplay.

  7. Monahan brings a lot to the team as a rental. Fit, faceoffs, power play. He was a 30 goal man at one time. This could be really big in the playoffs.

  8. I think this is a great trade seeing that we didn't have to give up any of our core players. I honestly don't think Chevy is don't quite yet. With Vancouver trading for Elias Lindstrom, I see our team trading for a Chris Tanev or Jakob Chychrun somehow someway because I have a feeling it's gonna be our team against the Canucks in the WCF and there's no way this current team even Monahan is enough to get past this new Canucks squad.

  9. S Monahan has 2 shorties this year and 16 PP pts!

Jets hAve three SH in total; while kyle, shif. and cole have 10, 10, 11 pp pts respectively

    sm numbera look great

just gotta keep his injuries in order

therefore put him on PP and not take regular 2c minutes

    thx for the channel

  10. In Chevy I trust. He’s got a lot in common with Alex Jones. Nobody understands what he’s up to, and everybody has a big fat opinion on why he’s wrong. He’s obviously examined every facet. He’s been right so many times in the past that you’d be a fool to believe this wasn’t a shrewd decision. But pucks bounce as they bounce so we’ll see. I think it’s a brilliant acquisition because Wpg 1st rounder will be a very late pick if all goes well. Welcome to Winnipeg Moneyhands

  11. Habs fan here. This was a good trade for both teams. Jets fans know how effective a player he was with the Flames before the injuries hit. If he stays healthy it’s a great addition.

  12. Note he is 2nd in the league in stick checks just behind Matthews and on the power play he uses that skill to retrieve the puck . OZ defense plays 103 rank 7 th in league. On the power play 6 goals 10 assist which mostly are primary. On the power play Jets have 46 inner slot shots Monahan has 18 on his own . He is fun to watch he freezes the opponent

  13. Zach. What’s the deal. Why are we waiving AJF? The guy at least tries. I met him in LA, he’s a good guy.
Why can’t we waive a slug like Guffstasson (sp) or your buddy Schmidt!
    Ugh!!!
