How is Logan Stankoven staying ready for his call up to the Dallas Stars??

The Dallas Stars prospect Logan Stankoven is having an incredible season with the Texas Stars in the AHL this season. As a rookie, Stankoven leads the league with 51 points in 41 games this season and just competed in the All-Stars Game last weekend. Via JD Young, another Locked On NHL host, took some videos of a media scrum with Stankoven where he talked about his path to the NHL and his success in his first season in Texas. Joey listens and comments on Stankoven’s answers and how exciting it is to know the Stars have young talent awaiting in the wings. It’s not everyday you see a rookie come in and have the success he’s having, Stankoven admitted how tough it is to score, but he seems to have an understanding on how to get the job done. Next up, Joey gives awards away for the Most Valuable Player, Most Improved Player, Most Surprising and Disappointing Players for the Stars this season. Which players do you agree or disagree with? The final segment is a quick preview of the Montreal Canadiens, a team the beat the Stars in their first meeting back in Dallas. Nick Suzuki and Cole Caufield both had big games for Montreal. Special teams have had a hand in both games coming out of the All-Star Break. Hopefully the Stars can be on the right side of those results this Saturday.

  1. Mvp is Hintz for me. I think he just does way too much for me not to pick him.

Most improved is Mason Marchment. Couldn't stand his game last year, the bad penalties, trying too much. This year he's been perfect for us. Glad we kept him.

Most surprising is Benn. I kinda figured after last year maybe we got to see a return to form and thats clearly not the case. He takes up a huge amount of cap, he's gifted PP 1 time, I hate to say it but I'll be happy when his contract is up. He's one month younger than me and I've followed him since we drafted the guy but its time to move on.

  2. MVP: Matty Duchene, agree with everything you said, if they don't retail him then Nell needs to go
    Most Improved: Thomas Harley
Most Surprising: Daddonov, he produced way more than expected
Most Disappointing: BENN & Sutter, both had great carers but the clock is ticking. you can't blame Jake for the Stars shotty D. he's been left on an island all year

Honorable mention for most disappointing: Jim Nell, what's this guy doing? there have been a LOT of players that could have really helped that went to other teams. One or two you can understand- but pretty much everyone the Stars either don't pursue or can't make a competitive offer.

  3. Haven’t missed a stars vs habs game since they switch it to where ever team has to play at ever nhl building

  4. I lived in Oklahoma City back in the day when the North Stars had a guy like this. They called him up and he set the world on fire. His name was Dino Cicirelli.

  5. MVP = Duchy. It's a shame that his addition to the offense coincides with the end of the Bennaissance. If Jamie were producing like last year, this team would be tops in the west or at least rivaling VAN. Wedgie gets a nod here as MVP2 for keeping our season on the positive side of the ledger. I worry what we will do when he is gone next season.
    Most Improved = Harley
Most Surprising = Robo's scoring decline.
Most Disappointing = Jamie Benn. I just don't understand this guy, but i suspect the regular season bores him. He better start ramping it up. Jake gets a pass due to effect of injuries.

I'm not convinced Stankoven is big enough to find daylight against the giants in the league, but i'm optimistic. They keep saying the league is trending smaller, but i don't buy it. Bourque is also on the small side. So who knows🤷‍♂

  6. Nah Suturd is easily the most disappointing/worst player on the team hands down, can't put all the blame on Oettinger when we have a useless defenseman like Suter constantly giving up the puck in the Stars defensive zone and letting the opposing offensemen get plenty of shots at the net. Oettinger hasn't had the best year but I don't think it's his fault for the most part
