@marbleblastfan He was drafted in 2008 but stayed in JR for 2 more seasons before making his NHL debut this past Oilers season. He had a couple of brief stints with the oilers past farm team the Springfield Falcons(our farm team is now OKC Barons) for a couple of years too!
yeah the first round of that draft provided some great defensemen (excluding Luke Schenn) like Doughty, Pietrangelo, Bogosian, Del Zotto and Karlsson but I think Eberle will become more valuable than any of those defenders, possibly with the exception of Karlsson if he continues his pace with the Sens
he is like a new Mario Lemieux, when he get's the puck to himself in a good position, he's going to score, can't wait to see how the Oilers will do 1/20/2013 when the season starts up again 😀
I think after seeing his multiple clutch performances in the WJC I knew this kid was something special and it was a crime he went 22 and not top 10. I am just so glad the Oilers got him!

I find it a strange twist of fate that Eberle was selected in Ottawa and then, 3 years later he plays in his first ASG in the same building.
