The Penguins have been very fortunate to have the greatest player of all time. And to have Sidney Crosby too.

Nah, he’s old and totally a jerk cause he didn’t go to a few All Star Games🙄

Edit: so no one’s seen that moron go off? It’s been referenced a bunch, it’s in Taylor Haase’s most recent article…

If the rest of the team can get it together he might do half that list again after the age of thirty the way he ages

  4. Only three players have won the conn smythe back to back, one was the Flyers goalie in 74 and 75, and then Lemieux in 91 and 92.

  5. I wonder how many are there ignoring the requirement for back to back Conn Smythes?

That one just seems very arbitrary to me, considering this would exclude someone who wins 5 stanley cups and conn smythes, but just every other year instead of back to back.

    My man.

It’s actually fascinating when you look at his stats year over year. I feel like so many fans are putting on their knee pads and chapstick over the current crop of studs. I’m sure they’ll break records, win trophies, etc., but Sid’s consistency and resilience is really what makes him one of the best.

1 upside is they almost stopped talking about Mario during broadcast

I’ve been a die hard for 30 years and when it’s all over for this core three and we go back to being shit.

I would never trade how fucking lucky we were with Crosby, Geno and Letang

They owe us nothing and deserve to ride off on their own terms with us or running for another cup somewhere else.

All while missing a season and a half during his prime.

  10. To go from Mario to Sid has to be the best back to back HOF’s in all of sports. I mean as far as greatness goes, they are both top 10 all time (trying to be impartial but I actually believe they are top 5, just need to wait until Sids career is over to be fair), so to even have that in a teams entire history at all is astronomical, much less back to back. They basically had 2 consecutive Gretzky’s (well as close as you can get), and I can’t fathom the odds of that. 30+ years of watching perennial GOATs is as lucky as it gets for a fanbase.

Very cherry picked numbers. Disregard the consecutive Conn Smythe’s and here are Crosby and Gretzky’s before-30-stats:

Crosby: 3 Stanley Cups, 2 Conn Smythes, 1027 regular season points, 164 playoff points

Gretzky: 4 Stanley Cups, 2 Conn Smythes, 2072 regular season points, 284 playoff points

Sid’s holding a candle to Wayne, but he’s in the hallway just outside of the room where Wayne is standing.
