No 2nd line centre, a snakebit Cole Caufield until January, a 19 year old Juraj Slafkovsky on his line. Respect captain Nick Suzuki

Suzuki is maybe the most underrated top line centre in the league. His defensive play and constantly playing against the oppositions best players are never considered when criticism against him flies.

He’s awesome, so reliable, a great leader and captain hopefully for years to come

  4. macula_transfer

Would be great if he could become our second PPG player this century :-/.

Lots of people here say he isn’t ” a true #1C” and “would be a 2C on a contender”

They clearly aren’t using stats or the eye test.

Suzuki is on pace for 70+ points, 53%+ faceoff% very good defensively, may finish top 10 in selke votes. He has had unreliable at best support, a mediocre powerplay, plays on a bad team with really no other good top 6 or middle 6 centers, and a bad offense with 1 good goal scorer, who has been streaky this season  and is recovering from shoulder surgery.

He is constatly matched against other team’s best players and rarely is injured or misses any time.

He is also a damn good captain.

Suzuki absolutely is a top line C, and while he isn’t McDavid or Mackinnon, he ABSOLUTELY could be the top C on a balanced cup winner, similar to Ryan O’Reilly.

Can this sub stop saying he isn’t a “true #1C”? He clearly is.

I’ll fight any habs fan who spreads the senseless BS that Suzuki is anything less than a bonafide 1st line centre. Is he a 100pts guy? Probably never, but that was never the criteria to begin with.

He tends to end the year strongly so hope he can at least hit new career highs.

  8. _thewayshegoes

He’s our best player and I predict will go down as one of our most iconic captains when it’s all said and done

You gotta respect it. And he does it all with a blank expression, just jokes kind of. I like how mild he is.

  10. Wont be surprise when he will hit 90 pts season when slaf and cole will get closer to maturity. He is close to ppg and he played with Anderson on his line for half the season.

  11. He’s fucking awesome even though I’m obviously biased, his basic hockey iq is next level for his age. Can’t wait to watch this team in the playoffs whenever they make It next, and he has better developed players/weapons surrounding him.

I’m still hoping he might put up 80 points. He can potentially do it but it’ll take a lot of effort
