> Ticket sales, merchandise and concession sales and local television ratings are all going to take a massive hit. In the wake of all that, should we worry about what kind of internal salary cap owner Terry Pegula might impose on General Manager Kevyn Adams for next season?

> “Obviously it’s been different for us at home,” a clearly exasperated head coach Don Granato said after Saturday’s game. “What I sense, I don’t want to get into that at all. It’s the case unfortunately. We’ve got to move on and get to the next one and have full respect that we need to be better, specifically here in that regard.”
> What does Granato sense? The guess here is he can tell his players are skittish at home, especially on the power play. The fan base is understandably beaten down by the toll of what’s now going to be 13 straight years out of the playoffs, and the toxicity has never been higher. One goal against, one failed power play and the boos quickly start to build. Home hecklers are tough.

> We’re 51 games into the season and Granato is still talking about compete levels and will to go to the net and work ethic. It’s just bizarre. Adams built a flawed roster and Granato can’t get much out of it.
> Rasmus Dahlin talked openly at the All-Star Game in Toronto about this team making a big run to climb back into the playoff race. You heard the same kind of chatter for two days when the club returned to practice.
> Then came Tuesday night against Dallas. It was a strong showing against a top opponent when you consider 83 shot attempts and 48 shots on goal. But the Sabres got goalied by Dallas all-star Jake Oettinger, who made 47 saves in a 2-1 victory. No three-game winning streak, no big momentum building out of the break.
> For a season that was just about over anyway, it seemed like that game may have put the Sabres out of their misery for keeps.
> **The problem, of course, is there are still two months of games left. Forget about the playoffs. Look back, Sabres. Something might be gaining on you. The Blue and Gold are in real danger of falling into last place in the Atlantic Division.**

No heart. No compete. No grit. The players will all talk about having these things but the play on the ice tells a different story.

I have a hard time with the constantly heard term ‘levels of compete’. It’s competitiveness, and THAT is what the Sabres lack. Maybe I’m nitpicking. Maybe I’m upset that they suck when all I want is for them to be good. Maybe it’s 13 years of failure under Pegula. Maybe Granato doesn’t know proper English and doesn’t know the word competitiveness. Any which way, after 35 years of fandom, my interest has dwindled to the point of no longer caring to watch the team I used to love so much

You know they sit there and get upset because they don’t want to get booed at home… Then gee, idk… maybe just play with a little passion and move your feet like you give a fuck? People in Buffalo can be patient around here as long as you show you give a fuck. But everything in their play lately has shown otherwise and it’s infuriating to see the same damn things over and over and over. I’ve never wanted to boo this team in my life more than I have lately with the effort they’ve shown, even during the last bullshit 18 years. Because these guys are SUPPOSED TO BE AND CAN BE GOOD…The fact that these guys are so unwilling to drive the net night in and night out shows me how much they just want the easiest route to play..

My biggest issue is how good they were on offense last season! That couldn’t have been that much of a fluke, but watching them this season is like Jack Eichel rookie season all over again

Adams treats this team like my younger brother treats his Hockey sims, and EA Sports NHL games… Stockpile rookies at low cost until enough of them become stars. Too bad it doesn’t work like that in real life.

The guy next to me that was booing his heart out and cursing up one side of Pegula and down the other on Donny as a coach was impressive. Never heard a man boo so long or yell so passionately at a team he loves but just is tired of the ineptitude

Send Okoposo, Girgensons and possibly Skinner (age and contract) out the door. Bring up Kulich, Rosen and Savoie (is he able to this year or does he have to stay in whl for the year) Let the kids play, have shooters line 1-4 and hope the kids take the next step and we can generate some damn offense

This is pure speculation by Harrington. It’s embarrassing that it’s allowed to be printed. He is a reporter and “journalist,” go find sources to corroborate or stop acting like the Buffalo News is just the Sabres subreddit
God I hate this guy, he’s just another part of the dysfunction.
