  1. Donnie, you ought to color that stache one way or the other. Got a bit of a Hitler shadow going on there

  2. Wait until you see how outstanding Lindholm will be in the playoffs. Thinking of the over/under for how many games until Tocchet doesn't dress Lindholm. You picked up Lindholm, unless you have another couple of deals to get Gadreau or Tkachuk you're not getting much. Glad to see him gone from the Flames.

  3. this was a necessary evil and cap dump. canucks have to resign hronek, petterson, joshua, and blueger. they needed to dump 5.5M on next year's contracts. myers at 6m is gone. ian cole at 3m – probably gone? since this is a "go year", they might as well have added a 2C as opposed to picks which would have been contrary to their league standing intent.

it was a win for both teams, despite flames loading up on assets and getting hunter.

canucks probably can't afford to re-sign lindholm.

but that's the cap space game…

  4. I really like Kuzmenko, but even I think this was a good move.
I hope he fits in as well as Zadorov!
Best of luck to Kuzy, I am sure we will see him fill our net soon!

  5. Only issue I have his trading 1st round pick! Canucks keep trading their 1st round picks! I do not like it

  6. This was a great trade. It is beneficial to our chances for sure. But….

    Dear Calgary,

Please take care of Kuzzy. He will be a very effective player in a run and gun team. He'll be a 30-goal scorer in the NHL again.

    A Canucks Fan

  7. I have been a fan of Tanev since his early days as a Canuck. His issue is he is always injured. That was the issue when he walked away from the Canucks. It's fine to make an effort to get him back, but if the Flames want a first rounder for him…get the f*** out of here. A 34 year old, often injured D man on an expiring contract and the Flames want a 1st for him? Let them keep him til the end of the season, and get nothing for him. A 1st rounder for him is outrageous.

  8. I like Lindholm, but that was a LOT to give up for him. It would be fine if he wasn't on an expiring contract. If he asks for $8 or $9 million per year on his next contract and the Canucks don't re-sign him, then it was a terrible trade. Giving up all of that for a rental would be as bad a deal as I have seen a Canucks GM make. If they re-sign him at a reasonable price, then my opinion would change.

  9. Donnie's been following the Canucks since way back, day one, back in the Coliseum? What's the best and worst trades in Canuck history?

  10. Holy crap Don, havent seen you since the Sports Page days! Glad to see you're still in the business

  11. If they end up putting Lindholm and Petey on a line then I hope it is Petey who they put at center and Lindholm on wing, instead of vice versa like most have people predicting.

  12. If they want Tanev so bad it shows they fuked up letting him go! Alex Edler is just sitting at home watching his old team! 🤫

  13. They gut Kuzie for free, he scores 40 for the Canucks for free, then Kuzie stops scoring, and they turn him into Lindholm, the highest-ranked free agent this year in the NHL. It's magic. And if they turn around and sign Lindholm then it's a "who was that masked man" highway robbery.

  14. Have you guys been smoking whacky tobacco?! Giving up picks/prospects and a dynamic player like Kuzzy for a RENTAL? Bad deal.

  15. Donnie made a great point about the Canucks not losing a playoff roster player when they parted with Kuzmenko. Unfortunately for Kuz, he has been a defensive liability this year for the team, and really would not be given much ice time come playoff time, if at all. So while I do hope to see Kuz rebound and re-discover his confidence in Calgary, he is not a fit for the current plan of the Canucks. The team is clearly going for it now, so it is a worthy gamble to make.

I am glad the team did not take the bait on Chris Tanev. As much I as respect the fearless style he plays, I think his lack of foot speed and his injury history together make him not a worthwhile trade target, especially if the Flames are asking for a first rounder for his service. I do think the Canucks may need one more piece at the back end, but with the current group playing the way it has been playing all year, this player would be more to add security and maybe give a slight upgrade to a Juulsen, Cole, or Myers. Definitely not worth a high draft pick or a strong prospect to obtain.
