Avs Get Down Early Against The Wrong Team, Lose 5-2 to Hurricanes.

Sure the Colorado Avalanche are the best team in the league at comeback victories. But some opponents make it much more difficult to accomplish that feat. The Carolina Hurricanes are one of those teams.

A natural hat trick in the first period by Martin Necas was all the Hurricanes needed for a 5-2 win over the Avs, who didn’t help themselves by going 0 for 6 on the power play where they could generate nothing.

It was frustrating to watch the Avalanche continue to try doing what they normally do with no success, only to turn around and try it again.

We break it all down. Tune in, subscribe and enjoy.

  1. I have faith that Evan Rodriquez will have a five point game against his former team. All Star Break I love you.

  2. I’d LOVE for someone to get the stats on how many times Georgy has let up 3 goals in less than 10 shots this season, easily has to be closing in on double digits if it isn’t there already
His stats this year don’t look any different than the years prior to last (were he clearly overplayed his skill level) He had an above average year last year, and Avs fans thought that was his new norm

  3. I'm going to try and look on the bright side… Parise looks really good. He's an absolute dog, he's aggressive, fast and seems to have very good awareness. Give him a little more time for him to gel with the rest of the team and i think that third line is gonna be really good

  4. I turned the game on and there were 2 shots and two goals against us. Ug. Was really excited for the season but feels like another cup is falling further out of reach 🙁

  5. Rough post All Star break. Out of six possible points, we have 0 wins and 1 point. Starting to feel like the Avs are in free-fall. Every team we have played against have upped their game for their respective post season runs and the Avs are not doing that, they are regressing. Completely agree on the fact there appeared to be zero adjustments throughout the game. Frustrating to watch such a talented team playing poorly and not to the level that we KNOW they can.

  6. Hurricanes showed that they're better than Avalanche. Avs have the talent, but Carolina has THE TEAM. Avs just showed me they're still missing SOME kind of lock down defender. If they aren't going to score on the power play they can at least keep goals out of their net but noooooooooo. If Sam Girard and his fluke goal (MISSES the point blank shot though) is your "offense" for the night the team is so F*****D. Byram breaking his stick after the hat trick was priceless…what a terrible defender….you don't deserve to break your stick sucking that bad.

  7. That was twilight zone level bizarre. Felt Nichushkin's absence here. He brings the aggression level up at key points, especially when we are getting "schooled" like this.
Still say Georgiev is overworked, and has been for quite some time.
Kyle: Now is the time for you to sing "Smelly Cat"
Chris: I came here for post-game therapy too.

  8. With regards to the goalie position, the fault is with the GM. You had Quick available for nearly nothing but you go for the even cheaper Prosvetov and YOU SCREW UP! This is very alarming when your GM is just cheap instead of getting the necessary experience for the playoffs. My advice for fixing it, get Fleury!

  9. Power play 0 for 6! I am sorry, but the top line was unprofessional! If you play 6 pps like that, you are just not into the game or you just give a shit what happens. If they should not improve vs FLA, Rantanen, Drouin, and MacKinnon would be healthy scratches for me for the next game. As a coach, you must teach them a lesson that such a game is UNACCEPTABLE!

  10. Shaggy you nailed it bro. Georgies body language after the first shot going in was like he wasn't even in the building. I don't want to see him melt down but man come on. Also, allowing someone like Ryan Joehanson to sit on his line night after night and have zero impact on what is going on in these games is having a compounding negative effect. I feel like he is the clog in the drain and we need to flush him and see how we really can get flowing. I hope they move him here in the next couple of weeks.

  11. Just hope when they play edmonton on my birthday they bring their A game instead of this. Regardless of outcome just want a good game. Been hyped all year for the game to finally watch the avs play in person.
Side note i think fluery is a must for experience. Some insight for georgiev. Perhaps some faceoff wins would be nice on the pp.

  12. Georgie is a back up at best. We have a lot of issues that need fixing but you can't give up 3 goals on 4 shots. These goalies are why we won't win the cup this year.

  13. Playing 3 games in 4 days on the road is no easy task, but there is no excuse for last night’s level of embarrassment. 0/12 on the power play on this road trip. You’re right on the money, Chris – they made no attempts to adjust last night. No one aside from Sammy and Parise had a good game (maybe Wood), Mikko looked uninterested by the 2nd period, Johansen continues to be a ghost, Ross Colton is playing 2C minutes and has 3 goals in the last 2 months,
and Fourgiev was once again a liability to start the game.

Avs are desperately missing Val Nichushkin right now and they need to do something to breathe some life into this team. I know the trade deadline is a month out, but they need help immediately.

  14. Marc Andre Fleury needs to come to the Avalanche and replace Georgie as the main if the Avalanche want the best chance to win. If the Avalanche don't go for him, they don't care about winning this year… It's that simple

  15. 40 needs to focus on big saves more. I've noticed the offensive minded Avs tend to give up Grade A chances no matter how well games are going. Georgiev admitted to reading the play as a part of his strategy. But he seems to lack on 1v1s. I've wanted him to poke check more & he's done it sometimes; heck, he won the All Star challenge by poke checking McJesus! But one thing Kuemper did, which Georgiev doesn't, is rise to the occasion. I'm talking breakaways or clean looks, times when the team really needs a big save. IMO, Georgiev is too passive on 1v1s, trying to read the shooter rather than aggressively challenge them & make a big play. I think this can be corrected with coaching, video review, & mental training (visualization). To me, this is why 40 seems to be playing OK but not his absolute best. It's the missing piece to his game & him leading this roster to a Cup vs just being alright

  16. Hot take, i dont think Johansen is as bad as everyone says he is. And also, like I said on the last video. Parise is a FANTASTIC pick up and has been incredibly noticeable the entire time since weve picked him up. Huge fan of a guy who i used to hate when he was on the wild. My biggest takeaway from the canes game was: We really need to have better cycling of the puck in the offensive zone, and we need to be more patient in our own zone.

  17. I'm going to the Wings/Canucks game today and am looking forward to comparing the canucks game to the Avs to see where we are at.
