  1. It’s not illegal to do.. I get it but like Bertuzzi situation can’t just retaliate when you want there’s time and place. Hitting after game is being a sore loser there’s really no justifying that

  2. Greig going full 07 danny heater at the hash marks then just going for a skate with his hands down 😂 couldnt happen to a better duo of clown orgs/fan bases 😂😂😂

  3. Im a leafs fan and morgan reily is my favourite defenceman and one of my favourite players
But i do think he should have reacted but the cross check was un called for
(should have just dropped the gloves )

  4. I use to kind of just tell myself that leaf's fans are just passionate, but after hearing some of their takes, I don't really respect them lol

  5. Reilly was 100% wrong, and he has earned every game the Office of Player Safety gives him. There are ways to handle slights and the breaking of unwritten rules, but a cross check to the head isn’t it.

  6. It's disrespectful to slap shot an empty net? Bro aren't the Leafs way higher in the stands? Maybe if they didn't disrespect their opponent and play like dog shit every game they wouldn't be in that situation
Hockey players have the mental of children it's such a sad sport😂😂

  7. You're damned no matter what.

The majority fails to recognize their biases and that goes for every fanbase including the Leafs. Somewhere in the mix of all of this is what's inherently right and wrong but there's a difference between precedent and whataboutism. Precedent is set by the DOPS and whataboutism is how fanbases at large justify literally everything.

Everything about the entire situation from the shot all the way to the aftermath has sucked. It's going to keep sucking until the next big thing happens and everyone forgets about this until they have to recall it as another whataboutism.

  8. Icing on the cake with slap shot …. Cross check to the head deserve 6 game suspension. Fact the Reaves got sent to ice with 5 seconds shows Leafs are goons !!!

  9. give him 10+ games like a slapshot does not need a response lol epically not a cheap shot instead beat the 28th rank team in the league like these people make millions to be cry babys

  10. Nothing wrong with scoring any kind of goal using a slap shot. There is no code that disallows goal scoring celebrations and that allows cross checking to the head. The Ottawa player could not expect Morgan to go bananas- as he did.😀Why not a 10 game suspension to stop fans believing a code exists that encourages Morgan to become a poor sportsman and bad loser?😀

  11. 1. Grieg did break a supposed "unwritten" rule. But it hurt no one except for their feelings.
    2. You don't assault a player over breaking an "unwritten rule" like Reilly did. What a complete joke and childish act. You are suppose to drop the gloves and fight. Not try and kill the guy. I hope he gets 10 but im guessing 6. It has to be at least 1 more than Perron's crosscheck.

  12. Maybe he was just practicing a shot he recently saw being done at the All Star skills challenge, but without the corner targets.

  13. I'm a Sens fan. Not going to lie, I love the shot, love the attitude. But I also completely understand Rielly feeling the need to react. Had he gone after Grieg *AND DROPPED THE GLOVES* neither I nor most fans would have a problem with it. Really have to wonder about people claiming he's "defending the code" by using his stick…

  14. Taylor Hall ripped an empty net clapper a few years ago, the opposing team did sfa. Leafs are soft either way.

  15. Take that shot against '70s Flyers. They would have collectively beat him like a piñata. No respect, no class in this modern garbage game.

  16. I dont understand why the focus of the discussion is on "did greig deserve the cross check" and not on just how dumb it is for your 10 million star defense man to get a multi game suspension and miss important games in the playoff race just so set an example

  17. BOTH can be true, but ONE is illegal, dangerous, and outright something you never do as a hockey player! Especially in response to a completely legal play that is just frowned at. A shot after a whistle on net is more taboo then an empty net slapper. You retaliate with a fight, not a cross check to the head!! anyone who thinks that is okay is a rat. Leafs get the hate they deserve when the players throw tantrums instead of focusing more on stopping those plays from happening to begin with.

  18. Funny how this “unwritten rule” is just a way of saying “heyyyy stop making us look bad!!!” Grow the hell up. Leafs fan, btw.

  19. Agree with what you say, both arent great, which is worse though a slapshot into the net or cross check to the face? I think the answer is pretty apparent

  20. Reilly, this was the equivalent of SMASHING THE LIKE BUTTON! Grow up man! You lost…play better next time!!!

  21. THG summoned it up perfectly

It was a empty net slap shot…. Who effin cares

    The game was in Ottawa

You don't want to feel disrespected…. DON'T LOSE TO THE OTTAWA SENATORS 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Reilly deserves what ever he gets + 2 games

  22. No…what Rielly should’ve done is HELP THE DAMN TEAM WIN THE DAMN GAME IN THE FIRST PLACE!!! Maybe next year.🙂👍🏾

  23. He back checks like he has a piano tied to his ass and then throws a hissy fit. Its so funny that Leaf fans are like "hE sHoWeD eMoTiOn". If thats what showing emotion means theres something seriously wrong with your team.

  24. imagine caring that much about how an empty net goal was scored. Get a grip. One is a hockey play(scoring a goal) one isnt a hockey play(cross checking dude in the face) black and white. Reilly had his little feelings hurt and acted like a man baby about it.

  25. How do we not know that he wasn’t just pissed that he was gonna score an empty netter? That one dude a few weeks ago smashed his stick on the glass lol

  26. That was really funny, Greig deserved what he got, enjoy another long summer Sens fans. Rielly is the best and has a lot of heart.

  27. The Senators and their pathetic fanbase are the most classless in the entire league. Dirty team with a whiny piece of ** as their Captain. Doing this in beer league would be pathetic, this is the ****ing NHL, such an embarrassing joke. I would be ashamed to be on or cheer for this garbage franchise, no wonder every player they trade for wants to leave immediately.

  28. Your net is empty. Shooter can score anyway they want. Dont kike it? Keep your goalie in.

Crosscheck to the head, thats extremely dangerous. Should be suspended 4+ games.

  29. Great assessment. I’m a little shocked at how many people are defending either one of them. Grieg needed a tuning up and knew it was gonna happen, but Reilly is better than that and should have handled it more responsibly. He isn’t doing his team any favours getting suspended. The fans defending that cross check, or saying he should have done something worse, need to have their heads checked.
