Brad Marchand 1-on-1K

Hey R cruso here at Warrior Ice Arena before Brad maran’s 1,000th game tomorrow Brad now that it’s sort of here have you been able to reflect at all on this accomplishment uh a little bit um you know I I think if if if I would look

Back so in my career and and uh you know someone would tell me that I’d be standing here today and so be a part of this organization and uh been part of so many great teams I don’t know if I would have believed it but um feeling very

Grateful uh to have experienced all the things I have and to be a part of so many great teams um and to be part of you know the best organization in the world so um you know I the more I think about it um you know I I I do know how

Extremely grateful uh and and fortunate I’ve been uh but at the same time you know I still try not to get caught up in it because I feel like I still have a lot of time left and uh still have so many Big Dreams and goals and and uh you

Know I still feel like a kid a lot of times where um so many so many things that I want to accomplish with this group and with this team and um you know you don’t ever want it to end this year has been a milestone year for you in

General starting with the captaincy and then top five in goals top five in points all of those things together has it allowed you to sort of think about where you stand in this game and and where those things even on your radar when you started your

Career uh you know I I think you early on my career I think you know it’s tough every day um you come to the rink and and you just your whole goal is to not get sent down you just you’re trying to survive and and you know I kind of feel

Like you go through different uh you know different uh parts of your career where you know you’re trying to make it and then you know you’re feeling a little comfortable you’re on term you’re you’re just trying to feel comfortable with where you’re at and now as I’m kind

Of getting older I feel like I’m a rookie again a little bit where every day there’s something to prove and and uh you know I’m still trying to get better and and trying to make sure that I do everything I can to not uh you know

Not decline and and I still want to play uh for so long so again so many things I still want to do and um I I feel like when you start looking at things that you’ve accomplished it it takes you out of the moment and um it’s a potential

Way of getting comfortable and uh you know I I think personal accolades are something that you look back on at the end of your your career when you re higher and you know you can be happy about it then but until I that that day

Comes again I still feel like I have a lot of years left uh I still think there’s so much room for growth and Improvement and um so many more things that come so at one point everything I’ve I’ve hit was a goal and and then there’s a point where um it wasn’t

Anymore there was so much further beyond that and even uh some of the things that are coming up that you know I could hit in the next little while again they’re short-term goals but it’s not where I want to end up so I I just feel like there’s always something more you can

Strive for there’s always areas you can improve and and get better at and and more things to accomplish and it’s kind of the expectation with this with this group and this organization you never want to get comfortable or complacent and um you always want to strive to get

Better and and uh been very fortunate to to learn from a lot of guys in that area and um we set really high high standards and it’s just kind of how you you live after you you do it for so long when it comes to team success this year there

Was a lot of change over the off season a lot of people maybe outside this building didn’t expect you guys to be at the top of the league again what has allowed this team to be where it is through through this part of the Season uh I think our our coach SCA management

Did a great job of it you know they built a team um put it together and then they kind of looked at what we were as a group you know the kind of guys that we had and and put a system in place that was going to allow us to have success

And you see when we EX Ute our game plan and we play the way we’re supposed to and the way that the management and coaching staff put our game plan in place we’re a very very good team and you know we just can’t get away from

That when we do we kind of slip a little bit but um you know we just we have a lot of depth on the D and on on the back end and and two phenomenal goalies and um you know a lot of hardworking competitive guys up front and when you

Have that it’s a recipe for success and like I said the game plan that we play every night allows us to kind of um work to our strengths and and uh you know we we believe in each other and support each other every day and try to get

Better uh and it’s nice to see that it pays off awesome thank you Brad enjoy tomorrow night thank you

  1. When you go the other team on the back of the skates, Jesus Christ, that bothers me I probably go to prison I know if I could take what you do to them. I just don’t know why?

  2. Gotta be hard to wrap your head around playing 1000 games, let alone for the same team. Thanks for the loyalty, dedication, and work ethic you’ve displayed, Marchy.

  3. 1,000 games…DAMN! I'm just glad they were all for Boston. When Marchy does retire he needs to retire as a Bruin…& not on one of those day long contract deals.
