Leafs fans celebrating Riellys idiocy are pathetic. The players can't be such snowflakes to have their feelings hurt by a slap shot empty netter. Let alone go rampant and crosscheck a guy in the head.
It's also similar to the McSorley attack.

That was assault intent to injure nothing less. If the league can’t police this. Then you will see more of this. Police stay out of this stuff but things like that end careers.
It should be at least 10 games, hopefully it’s even more. The league and player safety seriously need to look at how other contact sports manage these kinds of incidents, because some of them actually prioritise player safety. Punish the players and they’ll stop doing it.
I can’t believe people are actually trying to justify it. There’s no mitigating factors here, it was just assault. IMO Rielly is the “soft” one for getting his feeling hurt over something so minor.

As a Leafs fan it was absolutely a dirty play. No place for it in the league, but he isn't getting a double digit suspension. He has no history, and as far as I know there were no injuries. The department of player safety has no history of actually trying to deter this kind of stuff. Gallagher just tried to take off someone's head with an elbow he got 5 games. I'm expecting something similar for Reilly.

He should get 10-15, but because I think he is a 1st time offender, he'll get 2-5 games. Depends on if there's any injury and severity of said I jury post event. Also, depends on which Canadian fan base Bettman wants to anger more😂
The game was over he is lucky he was not charged with assault 7 games would be the correct amount. I have no dog in this fight other than the game of hockey. Do you want your kids to act this way ever? Anyone who thinks attacking another player with a stick is OK needs a morals check. But but but he shot the puck into an empty net and made my team look bad. The truth is the anger came from the loss and it came from a rivel in the middle of a rebuild. This kind of action needs to be stopped by making it too painful to do again.
