Mattias Samuelsson ”Det är rätt ballt”
You end the Swedish Championships for player aged 35+ with a win that gives a 5th place, thoughts? Generally you would think a 5th place is pretty bad but considering the circumstances I think we should be pretty satisfied with it anyway. Somehow pretty well done anyway. How would you evaluate this experience? Super fun!
If you look beyond the court, the floorball, it has great to meet all the old… A lot of these guys where around at the start of my career and haven’t touched a stick in 10 years. It has really been a whole lot of fun to see them.
Floorballwise it has been up and down. But I suspected it would be like this. We have faced active teams that play twice a week. So that was tough for us, they run a lot and not all of us can run.
So floorballwise I think we have performed both good and bad but all in all ok. So about like you expected then maybe? Yeah, I think so. Many had hopes for us and thought we would dance our way through but I understood we wouldn’t.
But I think the floorball has been secondary, it has mostly been a whole lot of fun. Partially to represent Storvreta and to play in front of big crowds and been really cool. I know a lot of us on the team has talked about the support and that many have come to watch us.
The supporter club Red Eagles was here. You get the chills. It is heart-warming in many ways. There was some talk of the risk of injuries, how has it gone? Ìt’s a mixed bag. My brother Andreas was done after one period, Rickie Hyvärinen after one and a half.
There has been a lot of little injuries. You get what you deserves. We haven’t had any preparation phase so we only have ourselves to blame. Can we see this team in the future do you think? I hope so. I haven’t checked in with everyone but
The talk is that everyone has thought it has been a lot of fun. But the format… Maybe aged 35+ isn’t our group. We would have to raise that by 5 years or remake the rules because veteran players facing teams from the second division… It is a bit funky and not quite fair.
At the same time we signed up and only have ourselves to blame. I think everyone thinks the experience has been a whole lot of fun. And how has it gone for you? Personally it doesn’t really matter. I think the evening games we have had, Friday and Saturday night have been really cool.
Played in front if big crowds, one game in the main arena. A really fun experience. You understand why you liked this. Playing for this club, in front of big crowds. You understand it and get flashbacks. And it has been really nice to play with all your old team mates.
Mika that hasn’t played for a long time either. I know when I will get the ball, he passes at the right times. It was like the last goal we scored today. The timing is there even though you don’t… And that is pretty cool.
And you see that for many, that they still have the timing, it just doesn’t go as fast. Really cool!! What is you involvement in floorball nowadays? This, that and the other. I help out on Storvreta IBK boys born 2010. I train a bit with Storvreta Legends and have played some game.
I still think floorball is a whole lot of fun but I have a hard time separating sport and sport. I come from the elite world and am used to analysing myself. It is easy to bring that with you now as well but I am kind of tired of it.
I shouldn’t have to sit and think I suck after a division 5 practice. That I should have left behind but it is hard. So I am not quite there mentally, to just be able to enjoy it. Hopefully a little bit in the future anyway.
Right now the World Floorball Championship Qualifiers are being played and there is already talk of the World Floorball Championships in Malmö at the end of the year. Any chance we will see you as an expert on Swedish TV? I hope so!
I don’t have any deal with them, it is the fun freelance version and you have to hope to be selected. But I know they have been satisfied and I hope to work with the WFC. But first is the SSL-final in April that is also on Swedish TV
That I hope to be part of. Hopefully Storvreta IBK are there so you get to have extra emotions even though you have to be professional.

Skön snubbe det där
tycker det är fel av andra lagen som har spelare som fortfarande är aktiva
