Sounds like metro and passangers are in a never ending spiral.
Speaking from the point of view of a comuter outside the beltway: People don’t ride cause metro is unreliable/not fast- efficient enough to warrant metro over driving. – Metro reducing number of trains, and operating hours = rush hour being terrible -> more riders finding other ways to commute -> metro lose riders and income, increases fare rates to make up for loss. -> less people ride cause of the higher rates decrease ridership -> metro reduces amount of trains and buses, raise rate to comp. Rinse and repeat.
predicting now that the only way metro will stop sinking in the quick sand is if they file a chapter 11.
