Was Wednesday night the end of the Penguins season?

  1. and even if thety playoff you think be able win game vs these top team in east i dont think we be lucky to win one or two if we make the playoffs

  2. i love the passion you give us that something this team dont have right now

  3. After reading a bunch of comments last night and having almost 24 hours, I am going to speak from a level headed reality standpoint. How it got to this point, has been years in the making and here is why:

    – JR was brought here for one purpose, to win Stanley Cups in the prime Crosby and Malkin era, which he succeeded at. Any fan should always be grateful of what JR did when he came here, I know I am. Here is the problem, all the winning and success comes with a price and the Penguins are paying that bill now. What is that bill, continuously trading draft picks, prospects it will catch up to you and it really catches up to you if you don't draft well with the picks that you had. For JR, he really did not draft well with the picks he did have and unfortunately, that is why The Pens farm system is where it is. Again it was for a good cause by winning, but there is a bill to be paid down the road and the Penguins are paying that bill now.

    – Bad trades and contracts there were some bad trades made that hurt the team, more so during Ron Hextall's tenure, and we will not beat that dead horse as we've been down that road and bad contracts. This team has handed out some not friendly and it's hampered their ability to properly build a good team. Jack Johnson, who the Penguins are still paying money too, Brock McGinn, Kasperi Kapanen, Jeff Carter, etc… The right money hasn't been spent in the right area and that has bit the Penguins

    – Players not panning out. This is more so this year with the moves Kyle Dubas made this offseason. While these moves were good at the time, it's hurting the team now because players are not playing up to their potential: Reilly Smith and Ryan Graves and you have players who were not brought in by Dubas that are struggling: Bryan Rust, Rickard Rakell, etc…

    – Bottom 6, also beating a dead horse, but bottom 6 is just terrible. It has been for the last couple of years and isn't any better. The problem this year is there are too many guys who are good possession guys and defensive minded guys, but not enough scorers or finishers to take pressure off the top 6. To me, the botched 2021 expansion draft is where it started and the team just hasn't recovered from that. You figure, we lost both Jared McCann and Brandon Tanev and that should have never happened and it's really hurt this team and they haven't recovered from that.

Kyle Dubas, has some tough decisions to make. If you went in with a realistic expectation, he wasn't going to undo all the problems that Ron Hextall caused in two years and he still has a lot of work to do. I think he is going to have to have some very difficult and tough conversations with the likes of Crosby, Malkin, Letang, Karlsson ,Guentzel about where this team is headed. At the end of the day while he does owe it to the core, he also has to do what is best in the long term. There is not really an easy fix or solution. It's been building for years and we are finally starting to see the bills the Penguins have to pay with all the success they had for last two decades almost.

  4. This team has reached a point where it's tough to even watch them. They're lifeless, gutless, soft, and just not good. Last night Guentzel got mauled for an entire shift and was injured, and no one cared even remotely except Crosby, only Crosby came to his aid. It's literally tough to watch at this point.

  5. Lol, at least i had to go through the seasons prior to getting Fleury, Crosby, and Letang. I know the pain, especially as a kid it was lemieux and jagr winning 2 cups and then seeing the team gradually go down hill and then to a deep dive

  6. If you think this is a playoff caliber team, you need your head examined. They are terribly disappointing this season. The power play is the worst it’s been in 7+ years. And I do not put the blame on Sulli for how this team is playing. You can coach til you’re blue in the face but you can’t make the players execute. They need to simply play the damn game with some heart, grit, energy, passion, and drive to win. They have zero of that. The only player I saw forechecking hard all game last night was DOC. Firing Sulli will not make this team better, and then we’ll be out of a GREAT coach for nothing.

  7. i have said all year they are far too soft ,pathetic I Can we get Scott Stevens out of retirement and show these guys what tough to play against is ! NOBODY CLEARS THE FRONT OF THEIR NET, NOBODY SCREENS THE OTHER TEAMS GOALIE AND CROSSING THE PENS BLUELINE IS LIKE A VISIT TO GRAMMAS .

  8. My wife is a new hockey fan and we don't have cable but have HBO Max and we were both excited to be able to watch the game last night and as we were watching she was able to tell me from still learning the game and everything what she thought was wrong with the pens and she wasn't wrong in any of her observations. If someone completely new to the sport can pinpoint what is wrong why can the pens not admit and adjust. Very frustrating good episode guys

  9. A loss in Chi town tonight is a Black Jack loss and it might be over. Kyle Dubas take your bad medicine and make the moves. Tough ending but next year is still the finish line if you do not get in. Good luck in the future Penguins. 🎰

  10. Agreed with everything. I can't imagine other organizations retaining their PP coach at this stage. Sullivan must be urging the brass to keep this guy. Hasn't made sense for months how he is still employed.

  11. Dubas did a good job IMO with what he had to work with, some players are failing him, this team proved they can win they just choose to not show up, lack luster effort and laziness, having stubborn coaches doesnt help either

  12. Hunter, hallelujah on that power play tirade!!! Well said, especially about them being so passive, both the players in their style of play and the coaches/GM for letting the power play continue as is.

  13. Karlsson also had 100 points last year because the Sharks were a bad team and were consistently chasing the game all the time.
