  1. Skinner deserved a star for keeping the team in it despite 4 goals. 2 more points and LA lost. Agree better effort needed on the road.

  2. The offense covered it (with help from Skinner) but the Oilers gave up way too many odd man rushes and generally looked shaky on defense. Great result, but there's work to be done.

  3. Hello Oilers and good morning from dark and cold Germany. Tonight I had the opportunity to support my team again live on TV! Starts at 3 am so I am doing breakfast at the moment. It was an interesting game, both wanted to play an offensive game, defense seems not to be what these teams like! 2:1 Oilers after first period. Then a periods began which I will characterize as the worst period the oilers ever played. No passing, no good stick work, no positioning in defense and a lot of luck because the goal was always on our side with the steel body!
3:3 after a 3:1 lead was a good end for not being on ice in this 20 minutes!!!
Last period Gatorade seems to done his work, and we score in a few minutes 3 goals, day done. The rest was Connor Show in skating which impressed me much. I really hope that Knoblauch let them see their second period again on tv, because you have to see by their own eyes what a shit they are doing. Otherwise they should think about the finals…
Cheers from cold Germany, stay healthy and be happy! Marc

  4. That second period was a complete mess! It looked like the LA game, the second period in the Anaheim game and some of the Knights game. Such an amazing 3rd period tonight, incredible really! Just need to clean this play up and I’m certain Kris and Paul and the others will, find out where they are going wrong way too often in their first four games coming back from the break. Let’s keep it going

  5. Skinner was great and their goals seemed to be from rebounds which our D tonight looked so not interested in clearing puck. They need to put Holloway at C on the third line and put McLeod on the wing like he was on the second line. Third line has totally disappeared and needs a change in positions from the players on that like.

  6. The defence is not good tonight. So many odd-man rushes. Not sure why the defence pairing keeps switching.
    The PK was bad tonight.

  7. Long post follows with base game statistics including some for the Detroit Redwings. Read, don't read, up to you. These are BASE stats not detailed ones. My comments and observations at the end.

Okay, odd game. At the end of 2 we were all tied up 3 apiece. The Oilers haven't allowed more than 2 (other than a bit recently) in some time but this one was going to be a higher scoring affair. General Comments: McDavid with 6 assists is ridiculous. Depth scoring from Holloway. Nuge with 2 (and NOT getting a Star of the Game). First two Oilers lines dominated but we still got contributions from others. Desharnais with an assist. Goal and an Assist by Ceci. Goal and 2 Assists by Bouchard. Six (SIX) of the Oilers on the scoresheet had 2 points or more tonight. In the faceoff circle every Redwing was below 50%. Husso got pulled after 8 minutes apparent lower body injury (after giving up 1). Lyon got called in and got shelled for 7 (especially with 5 in the 3rd, he may need counciling after this with nightmares of Perry, Kane, Hyman, and Nuge (I mean NUGE) in the blue paint while there are glimpses of 97 everywhere and pucks sailing by him). By the numbers it should have been a closer game. The biggest outlier is the Oilers won 13 more faceoffs and didn't get a PP (and let in 2 of 3 so the PK sucks again). They also tookaway more pucks (5). Take care all.
