Borowiecki To Have Hearing For Elbowing Incident

It happened in last night’s game and now the question is how much he is going to get for this. https://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/nhl/senators-borowiecki-hearing-elbowing-bruins-vaakanainen/

  1. It’s because the rookie got concussed that he’s getting the hearing. It’s the problem with the inconsistency with the player safety office

  2. I know all the He-men are going to start with the name-calling, but I don't give a shit anymore! How many more 'street fights' are we going to have to see before the NHL gets some BALLS and hands out a non-appealic LIFETIME SUSPENSION to someone to end all this freaking GARBAGE! I don't care what player or what team, do it to one of my Oilers, fine! Just END THIS GARBAGE STREET FIGHTING NON-HOCKEY BULLSHIT! I guarantee you that everybody will stop this crap the split-second that they see that the league will not tolerate it. There is nothing HOCKEY about hitting someone in the head! You disagree? Fine, you let me know where to come to and I will crack you in the back of the head with a stick, and at your funeral, I will explain to your family that it was 'just a hockey play.' Sounds outrageous right? What happens when one of these head shots connects at just the right place? Will you have the nerve to go to the funeral and tell the family that it was 'part of the game' and you support it? THIS GARBAGE IS GOING TO COST SOMEONE THEIR LIFE, just so you all can get your jollies and jump up and down, "Wow! What a hit!" How many videos is this now just this season? There is nothing 'hockey' about any of these hits. It's time for the NHL to stop being scared of what a very small percentage will say.

    Let the name-calling begin.

  3. Should be many more games. Is it really fair for someone to play against the rules and needlessly injure him? Vaakanainen is going to miss a long time.

  4. Think they should suspend people until the other player can play again, it just seems stupid to me that you can give someone a concussion, he's out for god knows how many games, and the dude that did it only get 2 games because he didn't sit at home before the game planning to do that?

  5. There's simply no reason for the NHL to tolerate careless or reckless plays on the ice. The leagues to tighten up a bit on that it because the potential for injury is to great. Should be a 5 game suspension , but it likely won't.

  6. No head hits ever. Not even revenge hits. Suspend players who do it. Borowiecki is just as susceptible to CTE as any player, so even if he chooses to fight, it should not be allowed.

  7. You can shove a guy away from your goalie without elbowing him. However the bruins player (I can’t spell his name) shouldn’t be flying in on the goalie like that. You might be able to get away with a few pokes at the goalie after the whistle in Europe but that won’t be accepted in the NHL. I can see both sides here coming from a bruins fan.

  8. Sucks, but it’s a suspension.. you gotta put the body on the man to defend him, can’t just throw an elbow… if anything use both hands and risk getting a penalty on a cross-check (a clean one, not risky/dangerous) and take the 2 minutes getting the attacker away from your goalie the way you should.

  9. This hearing and suspensions doesn't work, fines should be enlarged to damage the players. only way to make people fall in line. 5-6 figures numbers for minimum fine. start with the next dirty shit for brad marchand too. no people should be skipped from this.

  10. Love how unbiased you are.

It’s a shame because the hit from Gallagher should definitely be a suspension but I definitely think Boro is gone for a game. He clearly looked up and made eye contact. Yes he was protecting he goalie but you can’t ***** elbow someone in the face lol

  11. I really hate seeing rookies getting hurt by these kinds of plays. It's almost like they need to "pay a price" to play in the big boy league. If you are passionate and fearless you get punished.

  12. shannon, quick question. are you familiar with cool hockey for buying jerseys? they have a sale right now and was wondering if its the real deal. thanks

  13. I am an Ottawa fan and Borowiecki is a dirty player. He has been suspended before and really this isn't a surprise and that is the difference with Neil who was an enforcer but never crossed the line and got suspended and Borowiecki who in my mind is a goon. When he is on the ice you need to have your head on a swivel because he will hit you hard and he will drop the gloves when ever he needs to.

I wouldn't be surprised if this isn't a 5 game suspension with a harsh warning that the next one will be 10 plus.

  14. I always found it funny… You can punch a guy in the face or cross check him in the neck in front of the net but don't give him a elbow in the scrum that will get you suspended but if a star player elbows you in the head then he has nothing.

  15. If Matheson got two games for shoving Elias, a deliberate elbow to the face is worth 5+ games.  Or will the NHL perplex us with its inconsistency?

  16. C'mon, really?! Gallagher's hit was more dirty then that! Boro's hit wasn't even an elbow to the face, it was a forearm to the upper-chest!!! Ridiculous, the NHL hates Ottawa. 😡

  17. It’s a actionable play I’ve seen some say it was malicious and it wasn’t. It’s somewhere between a fine and 2 games it’s a split second play that if boro makes contact a split second earlier it’s in the chest or if the bruins defenceman doesn’t lean away from he takes the strike in the chest. Either was not malicious but actionable for sure.

  18. As a Habs fan I don't approve of the Gallagher hit either. If a guy doesn't have the puck there's actually no need to finish a check like that. Terms like "hockey play" and "plays on the edge" are really only code for stuff a lot less polite.

Those who will attack me and say I am soft for thinking that way really ought to watch actual fighting if they crave that kind of violence in sport. Leave it to people who know what they're doing and would annihilate your tough hockey heroes in hand-to-hand combat.

  19. I'm saying 5 games that will get reduced down to 2. This wasn't just an elbow, he put his weight into it. I think DOPS will continue to make examples of dirty play this season, particularly when it results in an injury.
