GAME RECAP: Penguins at Blackhawks (02.15.24) | Twelve 30-Plus Goal Seasons For Crosby

A quick turnaround after their game last night at home, the Pittsburgh Penguins traveled to Chicago to take on the Blackhawks. The Penguins wasted no time getting on the board. Only 15 seconds into the game, Sidney Crosby redirected a shot from Marcus Pettersson on the blue line. This goal marked his 406th even-strength goal and gave him sole ownership of most even-strength goals in the Penguins’ history. Later in the 1st, Drew O’Connor knocked a puck down from mid-air on the back check, collected the puck, and turned to start the rush back towards the Chicago end. O’Connor passed the puck to Reilly Smith after entering the zone. Smith ripped it past the Blackhawk netminder to take a 2-0 lead for the Penguins. Midway through the 2nd Chicago got their first goal, courtesy of Philipp Kurashev. After this goal, the intensity picked up. Crosby was not done adding to the Penguin’s lead, as he netted a second goal in the 3rd. Pettersson Shot the puck from the point. After bouncing around the slot, Rickard Rakell passed to Crosby on the backdoor for the tap-in. That goal marked Crosby’s twelfth season with 30 or more goals. To secure the victory, Bryan Rust scored the empty net goal from 200ft away. The Penguins snapped their three-game losing streak and won 4-1.

  1. Good game 😆
    Thanks for Chicago's weak defence.
And glad to see Penguins did not double team to lose goals when they're 2 on 2 or 3 on 3 like before.
That's truly what Penguins should have improved

  2. Thank you our capten to for being a role model! And we have a new starting goeltender who did a incredible game ❤🎉
