Paul Maurice, Panthers Postgame: Florida 4, Buffalo Sabres 0
Oh she was so good and the key piece to it and the wind um I think we spent an awful lot last night that was a hard 3D fast game and and to come in they got a a real I would say dangerous offensive group they make hard they’re hard to pattern
They’re hard to to kind of figure where they’re going with the puck we didn’t have the legs that we would normally have in this game and our goal tender was asked to do something um that you need if you’re going to get on any kind of run and a roll you’re you’re he’s
Been God he’s been he’s been solid and so good for us but tonight it’s it’s nice we’ve played well in front of our goal ending all year so sometimes you don’t notice how well they’ve played for us tonight you did you mentioned just how big of a factor Stars was in the
Second game of a back to back but what is a win likeness say about your team overall hey I would say nothing ktie I’m we’re leaving it here I I don’t think we were great um but but I I’m not complaining about that I’m not going to
Tell you the five things we didn’t do well there are really really hard team to play against and we didn’t have a lot of legs but I thought we got some big performances on our blue line but londell’s line and steenland’s line were really really good
And you know londell they drew they they matched Thompson up against them for a big part of the night that’s tough and they were good they skated well so we ran you know Bennett’s line and barkov’s line uh ran hard last night I had I had
Barov off over 21 minutes in a hard game so we needed the other guys to come up with energy they both those lines were great and to to your point I mean barkov forces the turnover and you know gets you and then you score your second goal
With a deflected shot right and the importance of that knowing that you don’t you might not have your legs the first really important going to the net I think Eric uh like he’s mine he’s not mine Eric hry uh two really big saves there in the first but then our guy then
Sto he did two right he had to make a couple of saves so the goalies were dialed in on both sides and I think that tells the both benches uh goals are going to be at of Premium tonight so the second one then is a bit of breathing
Room and the third one we feel obviously really confident the game’s over but but the second one is the breathing room we needed with I mean you’re at 10 Road WIS 10 straight on the road do you remember the last time you lost on the road or
This I mean Calgary gave up gave up a short-and a goal played pretty well in that game and then we had we lost the next one at home but the one prior to that was Edmonton we won got beat in Van and got beat in Seattle that four game
Blocked that that last was really important to our team because we lost the next game at home to St Louis and it was right as we said this when we had a funeral for our individual stats and we we won nine straight off that so we’ve
We’ve been able to take our losses this year in tournament into some streaks just based on adjustments the players make in their game looking at you know as a whole now you guys have four one in the second half of back to backs you given a one or few for those games how
Impressed you with how this team’s able to you know be effective in these games like you said a lot of times when you don’t have the legs yeah I thought tonight was the night we didn’t have the legs I think in our other backto backs we we’ve been pretty strong I think
Everybody’s also still in some ways reconditioning themselves off the allstar break right they they I don’t know somebody once told me that statistically it doesn’t matter I’m back toback nights but we didn’t look anywhere near what we normally look like tonight and I’m not complaining about
The effort level it’s what they had to give cuz we those guys give what they have to give just we just weren’t sharp or fast and but our goalie was good and a lot of nights that’s all that matters all right okay
