Apparently former GM Marc Bergevin banned Habs legends Jean Béliveau from walking the corridors of the Bell Centre & Guy Lafleur from parking in the players section

  1. … da fuck?

Edit: I know Bergevin is an arrogant dude, but, and I cannot stress this enough, da fuck?

Is this really in a GM’s jurisdiction? Shouldn’t this be up to the team president or even the owner??

  3. Le8ronJames

What an asshole. And fuck Molson for letting him treat Habs legend like that. I don’t care that he’s your GM/President whatever, as an owner you need to step up and prevent bs like that from happening.

Isn’t this the oldest of news? I remember hearing about this right after MB was fired.

… why? i’ve always been so confused by almost every decision bergy ever made, here’s another one to add to the list 😐

Heard he put a lower limit on your bicep size for the parking lots. Nobody but him could actually park on the property.

Man, that’s fucked up. How are you going to blatantly disrespect two of our greatest players ever? If true, fuck Bergevin

Wouldn’t want them to get in the way of the red carpet for Karl Alzner (yes this was a thing apparently from the Gervais book)

There is a only a hint of sarcasm when I say that Bergevin should face jail time for how he built a team in front of Price.

  10. IIRC he justified it by saying he wanted to alleviate the pressure a modern day Hab would feel when constantly being reminded of these legacy dudes and having to live up to their achievements.

I have no basis for saying this, maybe I imagined or dreamed it.

Iirc it was bevause some of the legends were harsh on the roster or something of a similar nature when they would come talk to the team. No clue if the story was clarified or if the actions were justified. From a fan perspective; shitty move.

He also let Therrien ban low fives. Bet Marc was really fun at parties.

  13. He probably thought the Canadiens used the history as a crutch and it was holding them back from moving forward. It was a dumb move as our history is the key competitive advantage. Any playoff run from now until the future will be able to draw upon a history of players who can motivate teams into success. I’m happy there is a more open and nuanced understanding of this now.

Bergevin wanted all the cameras and attention on him lol
