Drawing interest =/= the Flames being interested in trading him. Just about every team in the league could use a top pairing right shot defenceman on a bargain of a cap hit.
Frankly I can’t see the Flames trading Andersson. Or Weegar for that matter. They’re literally the only two defensemen they have under contract for next year.

Not saying Ras is untouchable but he is going to have to bring a biiiiig haul to get Conroy to trade him. Conroy has said this is more a retool than a rebuild and trading Ras is not going to help the success of this team.

I don’t think any player should be seen as untouchable but the return has to make sense for the Flames on their retool timeline. If Colorado was offering Byram and a first round pick for Andersson I could see Conroy pulling the trigger, but I don’t think that is a realistic trade.
With that said, unless a deal blows Conroy away, I would hold off on trading anyone with term until the offseason. The player you would really want is probably too important for their playoff run to get at the moment.

Anderson is a great piece for a true contender, he’s not a true 1D or even a high first pairing guy. The contract is good, which makes him a perfect trade chip. We have no top-level talent,and everyone should be available. We haven’t had a great center since Nieuwendyk
