What’s up everybody and welcome back to another video of Sports Talk Buffalo since I didn’t into a video last week and I didn’t really have the chance to do one on my off days this week I thought it would be a cool idea to do a

Live stream in the middle of the day in order to try to uh go over some of the things that I wanted to talk about regarding the Buffalo sports scene we’re going to start with of course the Buffalo Bills now I put out a video two

Weeks ago I or three weeks ago now after a reaction video pretty much after the Buffalo Bills lost I went right off the cuff I had no notes no nothing just pure pure reaction to the Buffalo Bills loss and I gotta roll some statements back starting with the Josh alen slander I

Can’t keep going with the Josh alen slander after watching what that Kansas City defense did to both Lamar Jackson and Brock pie after watching that casc defense pretty much dominate both of those teams Josh alen was super human in that game yes he missed a throw late yes he

Was bumped on the throw yes he missed Stefon Diggs uh coming across the middle so it seems on a lot of the still shots and a lot of the video that I’ve watched however Josh Allen was super human in that game and he did absolutely everything that you would want your

Quarterback to do in order to in order to get your team to win in a divisional game against this Kansas City team realistically this Buffalo Bills team was very very good against the Kansas City Chiefs and there was a poll on Twitter before and it said which Dynasty hurts more

Right was it the New England Patriots dynasty that we watched Tom Brady basically just run the AFC East or was it the Kansas City now Dynasty which is basically running the AFC and I got to say realistically it is the Kansas City Dynasty and the reason being is that the

Buffalo Bills legitimately have probably one of the top three quarterbacks in the entire NFL the only problem is they continuously have to face the best quarterback in the NFL in the early rounds of the playoffs in the AFC and that is turned out to be Buffalo’s Kryptonite more or

Less when we play KC in the playoffs Buffalo can beat them in the regular season but when it comes playoff time momes and and Andy Reid and that entire Chiefs team seems to turn it to another level a level that so far the Buffalo Bills haven’t been able to to match

Whether it be offensively defensively or on special teams whatever the case may be they haven’t been able to come out and beat the Chiefs when it matters in the playoffs and that’s not really on Josh alen as I said I have to roll back those comments because he he played well he played

Better than than both Brock pie and Lamar Jackson against this KC defense he was by far better than both of those quarterbacks however some comments that I’m not going to roll back on is the Stefon Diggs slander and the reason being is everyone will look at his final stats right he

Had 1100 yards he had what eight touchdowns I believe great I mean at end of the year stats great fantastic however a majority of those stats came in the first six weeks of the season the first six weeks the last more than was 11 games of the Season including the playoffs the

Last two games in the playoffs he averaged like 50 yards a game receiving as a number one receiver that ain’t cutting it if you spread that over a 17 Game season that is 870 some yards I believe that’s not a number one receiver folks that’s Gabe Davis like who

Everyone want who everyone in Buffalo wants out that is Gabe Davis like think about that the fact that people are still kind of uh at least not hesitant about Stefan Diggs from what he showed you in the last 13 weeks including the two weeks of the playoffs I mean

Receivers don’t typically get better after 30 right they don’t typically get better after 30 and maybe Diggs was dealing with an injury but in the last more than half of the Season he created very little separation he and Josh Allen maybe weren’t on the same page on the

Long ball he came down with not a whole lot of contested catches he just wasn’t the game breaker that we needed him to be and it showed in this Buffalo Bills offense they relied on the run a lot more which is a great thing obviously the bills needed a more balanced offense

But you cannot have your number one receiver posting just 51 yards a game on average and expect your team to beat a team like the Kansas City Chiefs you just can’t have that you need your big players well I did say this in in the

Video that I did a couple weeks back you have to have your big players come up with big plays and Big Time moments and Stefan Diggs couldn’t do that Stefan Diggs didn’t do that and that is a big reason why the Bills lost in that game to

KC again Allen played great he he did he really played great considering how good that Kansas City defense was and in the end it wasn’t really on Allen it was the defense and the multitude of injuries on the defense that was their undoing in that game they were down both of their

Top two linebackers in Milano and Bernard they were down two of their top three cornerbacks inre white and Christian Benford their punter was nursing a hamstring injury by the way that’s a horrible coaching decision to let your punter who is nursing a hamstring injury on his kicking leg play

In that game horrible coaching decision sometimes you have to save the players from themselves or at least think about what’s best for the team even though he wants to go what’s best for the team is to have a healthy punter that could have drastically changed field position in that

Game and you can’t really give a team like the Chiefs any advantages because they take advantage or they they literally take advantage of every opportunity that you give them and with having all of those guys out for the Buffalo Bills Casey was able to pretty much do whatever they wanted on offense

And they scored 27 points they only had the ball for 22 minutes and 59 seconds in that game and it’s crazy to think that they still put up 27 points on this bills defense who was supposed to be ranked one of the best def I think they were ranked

Statistically the best defense going into the playoffs but again injuries played a monster role in that game I think if we had one or two of those players the outcome may have been able to be different however just wasn’t in the cards for the Buffalo Bills yet

Again this season and we really have to start thinking about are the Buffalo Bills cursed and the City of Buffalo cursed because for whatever reason everything looks great right up until that moment and then either a key player gets hurt or something wonky happens or a player that’s made plays all year

Doesn’t make the play when it needs to be it’s just everything seems to work against uh Buffalo Sports in general when the big moment comes so we H in my opinion there’s got to be something going on in terms of some sort of jinx or some sort

Of voodoo on this on this uh Buffalo this Buffalo sports fan base in general it’s very very difficult to um to kind of get over and get past when you have all the pieces there but for whatever reason they just can’t get it done year after year again the bills had the ball

For 37 over 37 minutes in this game but they only averaged they only averaged about 4.4 yards per play while Kansas City averaged nearly eight yards a play that in and of itself showed you how banged up this Buffalo Bills defense was and that was basically their undoing in this

Game uh against the Kansas City Chiefs it just that was that was more or less their undoing in this game they couldn’t overcome their injuries they were able to overcome some of the injuries in the previous game but you’re not going to be able to do it against a team as talented

As Kansas City regardless if they have enough not enough fans made the ultimate sacrifice to the pit apparently apparently we were all selfish and uh we didn’t jump into the pit uh I thought maybe some of the police that were there guarding the pit should have jumped in

Themselves maybe that would have turned the Mojo around um uh you know I I really don’t know I I honestly don’t know what the heck is going on as far as why we cannot get over this hump or why we have a key injury at the time we have

It or whatever the case may be I just don’t understand why we always have a team at least under Josh Allen in the last few years that has been talented enough to win the Super Bowl and just haven’t been able to get past Mahomes and the Chiefs something again there’s

Got to be some sort of curse on this Buffalo franchise whether it’s where they built the stadium a lot of people are saying that it was built next to a burial ground or whatever it may be I don’t know again it’s just not fun year after year losing

To Patrick moles and this Kansas City Chiefs team and then knowing very well that they’re likely going to march on and win another Super Bowl it and then have another parade and then you get to see them all summer long and everyone talked it’s just it gets exhausting it’s

Exhausting especially when you know that you can beat them all things even but they can’t or they haven’t they haven’t beat him so I just it’s frustrating to say the least it is very frustrating but let’s stop rambling on I said I’m going to talk about more than

Just the Buffalo Bills on this one I just had to get that out there I had to retract some of the Josh Allen slander that I had of course Mark here Buffalo Bandits forever the exception this is true I just looked this up recently the bandits have been to the

Nlll finals the most out of any team in the league and they are second in terms of championships they now have five championships in their existence so if you are a buffalo fan and you want to see a buffalo team that is more often than not a winner go to a

Buffalo Bandits game super fun atmosphere myself and this gentleman right here where season ticket holders along with a couple of our friends for nearly a decade it is a great time you I promise you you will have a bunch of fun another one do the

Bandits I promise you if you go to a Bandits game you will have an absolutely fantastic time there is no time like the present and they are starting to pick their game up again they’re averaging the most fans in the league they average well over 16,000

Fans a game this year that is actually more than the Buffalo Sabers are averaging and more than a good handful of NHL teams right now the Buffalo Bandits are pretty much the best ticket in the nlll other every player that plays in the National Lacrosse League

Will tell you that Bandit land is by far the best and I don’t really think there is a comparison the next closest in terms of attendance I I don’t even know which team it is but I think it’s like 13,000 so it’s I mean the bandits are

Just the best team to watch they have some of the best players in Dan Smith and I am really sorry that I am blanking on his name and I cannot I can’t believe I’m blanking on his name holy cow that’s really embarrassing I really can’t believe I’m

Blanking on his name that’s uh H Josh burn there it is I couldn’t believe I I did that but anyway um I can’t believe I was blanking on Josh Burn’s name uh one of the best players in the National Lacrosse League bar nun he’s an absolute Savage so much

Fun to watch his team go back and forth the bandits currently have even though he’s older one of the best goalies in the in the history of the the national acros league in Matt Vince super fun to watch back and forth action lots of hitting physical play lots of goal

Scoring with this Bandits team if you miss out on this I mean I don’t know what they’re like the best kept secret so far pretty much in the city Buffalo if you’re just a Bills fan or if you’re just a Sab fan you are seriously missing

Out because the bandits are a ton of fun I have been at the games when they have won their last two championships and it is a it’s so much fun to watch a team actually win your team actually win a championship and be involved in it and

Hear the crowd Roar and see them lift the trophy there’s really nothing else like it and hopefully one day one of our major sports teams can actually do that in either the sabes or the bills because it is so so cool to be at the game or even

Just be around the game and watch your team actually be able to lift a trophy it’s got to be such a cool feeling something that Buffalo fans outside of Bandits fans hope that we can achieve one day more or less and that’s uh you know again everyone’s talking

About the bandits if you if you’re not in on the bandits right now I there’s no better time than the present go to a Bandits game one game and you’ll likely be hooked and be a fan for life every single Bandits game is now on TV they play it I believe on Channel

Wnlo they had an agreement with wnll if you don’t have you know whatever basic cable or you don’t get those channels for whatever reason you can always watch it on ESPN plus every single National Lacrosse League game is on ESPN plus which is awesome it is super fun to

Watch again if you don’t get a chance to go to a game watch the games they’re not quite as exciting when you’re not at the game because you don’t get the atmosphere you don’t you know hear the crowd chance don’t hear you know the the the big music banging in the background

Whatever the case may be it is super fun game to go to if you can get your hands on some tickets I’d advise you to go down there way more fun at least currently than going to a Buffalo sabr game so if you’re going to spend some

Money spend some money on the Buffalo Bandits that is for sure thank you guys for putting those in the comments so now we’re going to move on to some Buffalo Sabers trade talk and realistically I made a video a couple weeks ago about Casey middlest stat being uh potentially

Traded and here it is last show you did on the Sabers should uh trade case M said I said no well the more time goes on I’m thinking if Adams can get a top four d man then do it make Ki third line Center in October here’s the

Thing I was a very very hard no on trading Casey middl stat and that largely hasn’t changed okay it largely hasn’t changed however I am more inclined as the season goes on to potentially trade Casey middlest stat if we can get something that is going to improve our

Team next like immediately next season and the season you know what I mean I don’t want to have to rely like that Neil wants them to rely on another rookie I don’t want to rely on rookies anymore the sabes have relied on rookies for the last two seasons they have

Really hoped they pan out and we’re patiently waiting for them to adjust to the NHL game petka is starting to look like he’s going to be a very good player Quinn if he can stay healthy looks like he’s going to be a very good player but

They had big lulls last season if you remember and that is a problem when you have a put a rookie into the lineup they eventually hit that rookie wall and there is large numbers of games in which they don’t produce the way that we would want them to produce and you’re seeing that

With Zach Benson Benson came in he looked like a Dynamo kid was great he still looks pretty good however he’s he hadn’t been really producing he had just one point since Christmas he did did score that beautiful uh backhand to forehand goal the last game against the Kings awesome that’s great however you

Saw how many games he went without producing any points and that happens to a lot of rookies as they adjust to the amount of games that are played in the NHL the amount of pressure that you have in the NHL and the overall expectations you have in the NHL and I just don’t

Want to rely on another rookie to come in and be the third line center now obviously there were other names that are being thrown around that I have seen I’ve seen uh Eric Johnson I’ve seen Victor olivon of course Genson and ooso however all of them are likely obviously

All of them are likely unlikely to be back in my opinion with the Buffalo Sabers next season completely fine I am 100% okay with any and all of those players not being back next season so if you trade them you get as much as you

Can uh you know as much as as you can with uh you know trading any one of these players but they’re not really going to bring you back anything significant realistically uh another comment the youth movement was my biggest issue with this team as it didn’t set them up for

Immediate success it’s where to get guys like Benson to come in and contribute immediately to the NHL that is very very true the NHL is not like the NFL like if you are more of a football fan than a hockey fan you don’t really know that

That guys in the NHL they come in at 18 years old and you know it’s it’s you need more seasoning you need more um development than you would maybe in the NFL the guys who go to the NFL are first round picks they basically come in

They’re NFL ready a lot of these guys are NFL ready because they’re they’re 21 22 23 years old they’re ready to rock and roll out the gate that’s not how it’s done in the NHL the NHL drafts these guys when they’re like 18 and 19 years old old and they need a couple

More years of develop most of these guys need a couple more years of De of development and you always have that kind of learning curve as a rookie pretty much in any sport but a lot in hockey you have that learning curve that you see more so it’s more evident over

An 82 Game season than it is maybe over a 17 Game season with this uh you know between the NHL and the NFL and that’s again why I really don’t want another rookie having to just fill in for a a guy who we have seen produce right if we

Trade Casey midat we have seen him produce last season he had nearly 60 points this season he’s on Pace for 68 points like Casey midad has finally shown what he that he was worthy of that number eight overall pick so many years ago the Buffalo Sabres rushed him into

The NHL that the case being made that Mark was just talking about the case being made Casey midat was rushed into the NHL he needed another year or two in college and then a year in the AHL and then he might have been able to come in and produce right away for the

Sabes but that’s not what happened they Rush him into the NHL he struggled for a number of Seasons he struggled to stay healthy and then last year when he finally was able to stay healthy he produced a bunch of points for you same thing with him this season

He’s been your best forward all season long so my thing is why when a guy finally hits his stride would you want to get rid of him I don’t know again if you can get a big package deal and you think he’s going and you think middlest

Stat is going to cost you a bunch of money then sure if middl stat wants more than like six and a half million a year I say it’s probably the right thing to trade him away and you don’t here’s the thing though you don’t have to trade him right away you

Don’t have to trade him right away he’s an RFA you have his rights at very worst you can go to arbitration maybe overpay him for two years or a year and a half whatever the case may be and trade him then there is no rush you don’t have to

Feel rushed in wanting to trade Casey midat that’s the thing you don’t have to feel Russian wanting to trade him however if you can get a top four def d man or you can get a big power forward that can score and be physical something the

Sabes lack a ton of is forwards with physicality and people will point to Jordan Greenway Jordan Greenway I’ve seen many many times not finish his checks I’ve seen many many times him not drive to the net he’s been better of late I would say the past you know 15 or

20 games he’s been producing offensively but he doesn’t really bring much of the way of offense realistic Al for the most part that to me like you got to keep your best players here you you already see this season Tage Thompson and Dylan cousins both of them are struggling mightily to

To score points right they signed that big deal both of them are struggling mightily to score points now you ship out Casey middl stat you’re putting even more pressure on those two guys to produce because now you’ve just taken away a another massive weapon for the Buffalo Sabers

I’m not saying I want to keep everybody there’s not room for everybody and that brings me to the next point before we get to that point we talk to Mark here the best thing Adams can do at this point other than moving some of the bottom roster guys is to package up some

Of our prospects to better position ourselves for 2024 25 100% agree I’ve said there’s not room for all of these guys and since there’s not room for all of these guys why not put some of these guys who are highly regarded as as you know a plus prospects in a package deal

And try to get a good veteran player to the Buffalo Sabers that can help them get over the hump and into the playoffs next season something on this team is missing I don’t know if it’s coaching I don’t know if it’s if it’s physicality I don’t know if it’s it’s really not

Defense defensively the Sabers have been pretty good this season their goal tending in UPL has been stellar but I don’t think again you you get better by trading away guys that are now proving to you that they are NHL caliber not even NHL Cali caliber but like top six caliber Casey

Millad has shown that he could easily be a top six forward and he’s been their best forward all Year everyone keeps referring to him as their 3C he’s outperformed their their one and two Seas all season long Casey midat right now is not the Sabers 3C he’s their

Onec he’s out producing cousins and Tage Thompson by a decent clip and he’s being he’s being more he’s scoring more consistently than both of them you know you saw last season you thought that maybe the breakout season for Tage Thompson that was what he was going to

Be and I didn’t think he was going to be 110o player I thought everyone on the Sabres would have a little bit of a regression from last year’s scoring but I didn’t think Tage Thompson would be like this this is a heavy regression this is worse than his

Breakout 64 Point Season I think it was 64 Point Season that we saw a couple years ago same thing with Dylan cousins Dylan cousins has dropped back to not the 70 point score that we saw last year but back to like the 40ish point player that

We saw the previous two seasons and that makes me worried that that might be more less where he settles do I think Casey midd the same thing with Casey midd said do I think he’s going to be a 70 to 75 Point player no I don’t I think middle

Set’s going to fall in around 45 to 55 points every single year and if that is one of your top three centers beautiful look around the league I encourage you to look around the league if the Sabers have three centers let’s say Tage Thompson is a 65 to 70

Point guy Dylan cousins is a 50 to 55 Point guy and middlest stad is a 45 to 55 Point guy you have three legitimate lines that are equally as good that can be put out in any situation that can um pick the other two other lines up when

Any one of them is not necessarily producing you have a top you have top nine you don’t have a top six you have a top nine you know that you have strength down the middle and that is something successful teams have depth that is something that the uh

Vegas golden kns had they had depth they had a lot of depth they had you know eel was their leading scorer but I mean not by much it’s not like he was carrying the team like McDavid and dry cidal did in Edmonton you know you take those two

Guys out and Edmonton’s a bottom feeder team if you took eel out of the Vegas golden knights he you know they’re still one of the best teams in the NHL like that is that is depth that is depth and that is if you get rid of Casey midat

That is what you are getting away from another comment here need to clear out the bottom six at the trade deadline see what the young CPP of players can do figure out what pieces you may want to keep or which ones you could move out in deals for other

Pieces the only thing I hesitate well yeah okay I I agree I I would get rid of a lot of the guys in the bottom six and again before that is a a great segue I guess into the player that I wanted to talk about which was

Payton Krebs a lot of people might be mad at me for saying that but pton Krebs is a guy that I would potentially look into trading if I were the Buffalo Sabres and the reason being is he will not have the opportunity with this Buffalo Sabers

Team that I think that that he needs in order to blossom into the player that he can be and I think the player that he can be is Casey midat so why would we give up Casey midat in hopes that Krebs can turn into Casey midat we already have him

They’re the same type of player both of them are pure Playmakers both guys are pure Playmakers right Casey middleset has a little bit of a better shot than Peyton Krebs but both of them in the end of the day they’re both pure P Playmakers and I

Don’t think you should keep them both in my opinion and I think you trade Payton Krabs because he’s a little bit more unproven obviously he’s had less of an opportunity and it doesn’t look like he’s going to get that opportunity with Buffalo so I say you trade pton Krebs

And one of the names that uh I seen online from uh Joe Marino from the charging Buffalo was Scott lton now I don’t love it but I don’t hate it either and I don’t love it for the fact that Scott lton is 29 years old however you get a guy

Who is I guess roughly the same size as as pton Krebs however a little bit more physical than pton Krebs he’s had over 100 hits uh a year for the last like three or four years he produces 20 plus points a year you know between 20 and 25

Points a year playing fourth line minutes he’s currently slotted in as the fourth line center for the field FIA Flyers he penalty kills on their first pk unit and he’s on their second power play unit so you’re telling me that if you get a guy like that it wouldn’t

Potentially help your team a guy a guy who’s phys a forward who’s physical who can produce who can play bottom the you know bottom s a good good solid bottom six minutes but also give you quality minutes on the PK and and the power play how does that not improve your team you

Know how does that not improve your team the flyers are doing better than the Sabers right now like how does that not improve your team and sure maybe Krebs goes to Philadelphia or wherever and he turns into that 55 60 point player it’s very likely you’ve seen flashes from

Payton Krabs you’ve seen him be able to create offense sometimes and is it just because he’s playing with a couple of bums a couple of Scrubs on the bottom you know on the bottom line for the Buffalo Sabers very much yeah very much could be but

You’re taking a huge risk if you get rid of the guy that has shown you over the last season and a half or two seasons that he can produce at a very good clip in terms of points for a guy who you hope can produce at that clip moving

Forward again it comes down a lot of it will come down to money if Casey middl stat wants more than 6 A5 million a year for the next seven years it might be time to move on from him it really do it really might be another comment here do you think

Cousins who had seven points in four games before Quinn was injured is going to be a 40-point player When Quinn pker are healthy here’s the thing I want my $7 million a year player my7 million dollar a year second line player to be able to produce and produce

Better I W say produce better but I don’t want him to have to be Reliant simply Reliant upon who he’s playing with right and I say that because I say that because uh you know you look at at at Casey middlet Casey midat is still producing with Jordan

Greenway and now Alex tuck on his wing he was producing last year with Tyson Joost and and Victor Olson he’s produced when you put up in the lineup he produced at a better clip when you obviously when you put him with better talent but he produced at a a really

Strong clip when you put him with Alex tuck and Jeff Skinner like that is what I want to see from my $7 million a year player so like yeah he’s my second line Center and do I think that he’s really going to be a 40-point player When Quinn

Is healthy I mean maybe not but in the same sense you know I don’t want him to have to be reliant on having to play with Jack Quinn necessarily to score all his points I want to see him be able to drive play himself that’s why they

Signed him to that big contract I want to see him be able to lift up other players that’s what a good Center does he can lift up his line mates you know maybe to their maximum potential and I right now Dylan cousins doesn’t lift up his linemates to their maximum potential

I think ever since he got filled in against the Boston Bruins he’s been playing kind of a scared game you want your you sign Dylan cousins to be the the Workhorse from White Horse right the guy who’s in your face the guy who throws body checks the guy who’s a little

Chippy the guy who’s not afraid to drive the net the guy who’s not afraid to drop the gloves that’s what you sign him for the guy who’s going to score you 60 to 70 points a year he’s not that right now will he ever get back to that hopefully realistically hopefully I hope

He gets back to that because that’s what we signed him to be but right now it’s not looking great like you know it’s really not it’s not looking great for Thompson or or cousins I want to see these guys produce and I want to see them produce at a at a

Better clip than they’re currently producing at right now they are not good neither of them are very good you know you see a flash here or there but this season again neither of them have been that good and I think that you take another piece out and put even more

Pressure on those two guys produce is a recipe for disaster for the Buffalo Sabers I think realistically as I said if you have Thompson and you have cousins and you have middle setat as your top three centers you’re in a good spot because essentially all three of

Those guys I Thompson is I think clear in a way your most talented player of the bunch but you know you could put those guys you can interchange any of those guys in any one of the top three lines and probably be completely fine I think

Any of them can produce at a good clip I think again Thompson’s going to settle around the 65 I don’t know why Thompson has regressed so much this year I think part of it is injury um it is very it is low is it’s highkey sad it’s not even low-key sad it’s

Highkey sad um yeah again Thompson has not been himself since the hand injury I don’t know again I think I think cousins has he’s playing with a little tentative I think Dylan cousins is playing a little tentative realistically I think that’s his his big issue I think um ever since

He got filled in in that bossing game and got his nose broken you know he doesn’t want that to happen again it didn’t feel good so he’s playing a little tentative a little scared so to speak and he’s not being the player that we need him to be because up until that

Point you know he been in every single every single fight he’d been in every single Skirmish whatever he’s the bigger guy he’s been able to kind of have his way with other guys he’s shown very well that was his first real pummeling you know what I mean that’s his first real

Pummeling yeah you’re right is highi said is the is the word for it for for Thompson’s regression it is sad overall um we really did think the Sabres were going to be a lot better than they currently are and I guess all the metrics I’m not here’s the thing I’m not

Really a big numbers nerd okay everyone looks at the at the the oh the five the five on five metrics and all that [ __ ] I I don’t really look at any of that stuff too much right I guess I’m I’m the old school guy I’m the dinosaur whatever the

Case may be right I I just I use these guys right here this is this this is how I judge how they’re playing and sometimes it it works well for me and other times you know it it doesn’t but the metrics say that the Sabres are really really good are pretty good five

On five team and their biggest issue is the power play you know their biggest issue is the PowerPlay they’re terrible but when you have a guy like Matt Ellis who is supposedly your power play coach the guy’s got like 10 points in his entire career in the

NHL right and I’m not saying you got to go out and get a guy that’s you know Alex oetkin level to be your power play coach but clearly whatever whatever Matt Ellis is trying to do is not working and it appears to me what Matt Ellis is

Trying to do is force feed Tage Thompson a one-time on the left Circle every single game there’s no movement there’s very slow passing and then they just you know they try to set up a one-time for Tage Thompson who shoots it as hard as he possibly can and

Hopes for the best like that’s their power play strategy um this season and it is not worked not even a little bit and people will say people say things like oh but why does it work in Washington so well with Alex oetkin Alex oetkin in his prime did you ever if you

Ever watched Obie and his Prime with the Washington Capitals on the power play at that left Circle watch him he doesn’t just stand kind of like how Tage Thompson stands he floats down towards the red line he comes back up you know to the top of the circle he goes

Everywhere in between he scores all his goals in that general area but he opens himself up for passes across you know crossided passes instead of just passes from the top of the you know from the top of the Zone from from Rasmus dolene at the top of the circle you know he creates

Spaces within the penalty Kill by his movement back and forth in that it it doesn’t even have to be a bunch just a tiny bit of movement if you watch him again in his prime there’s been times you know recently where Obie literally just stands at the top of the circle

Like his controller’s been shut off but I mean in his prime he created a lot on the on the power play something that I when I watch Tage Thompson do I don’t see him doing that a lot of also it helped on the power play that they all they had a

Couple other guys who would score on the power play so they had to kind of respect everybody whereas the Sabers power play they don’t really have anybody on the other side that can shoot it so everyone just kind of Shades over towards Tage Thompson and that kind of

Is the is the end of it you know they they pretty much just shut down the whole power play not only that but then you don’t have anybody in front of the net ever like I I I don’t know their their whole power play situation is just horrible to me

Like I’m not I’m not a fan of it at all um not not even a little bit like all the hype going into this year or this season so much more painful than just being bad as expected for years that is very true I think it hurts

Just that little bit more when you thought your team was going to be a 90 to 95 Point team and they’re likely going to be about a 78 Point team or 75 to 78 Point team that is that is rough would you like to send out some of the bottom six with either

Picks for a good middle six two-way player I mean I think their top six if they keep it the way that it is right now is pretty much set I don’t foresee I mean if you if you have Quinn come into next year and he continues to kind of get

Hurt at the the pace that he’s getting hurt right now then yeah I think you might have to try to reconfigure f it uh I think these are two incidents in which uh Jack Quinn kind of just had some bad luck more or less I don’t think he’s necessarily

Injury-prone so I think their top six is kind of set Thompson tuck Skinner cousins petka Quinn so you’re looking more for for bottom six guys right now and that’s not necessarily a thing like it was in the past you’re not looking for you know guys who are NE neily just just Grinders

Right like 15 20 years ago bottom six meant like you couldn’t really skate well you know you didn’t have a whole lot of skill uh you know you were just super super physical but your only jobs were basically to shut down the other team and to to potentially play on the

PK that’s not really a thing anymore you really have to have at least three good lines and one capable line in the NFL like everybody has has to be able to play so I think you’re looking for a guy who can produce with less minutes um if you’re going to ship out

Any of these guys I don’t foresee any of the guys that I’m talking about getting anything worth anything other than maybe a couple late round picks realistically outside of maybe pton Krebs and the reason why I say pton Krebs is because I still think a lot of teams view him as a quality

Prospect and I think that the flashes that he has shown in the NHL suggest that he is a lot better player than I if he would be given the opportunity that the Sabers just don’t have I I would say don’t have to give them they could give

Them all the opportunity in the world right now because they’re dog [ __ ] but um that they’re not giving him I guess so that’s kind of a that’s kind of a big deal when it comes to that you’re say pardon me little the idea of Scott lton at center with Greenway and Eric

Robinson in the fourth line next season but what would it cost to get him realistically uh Payton Krabs like I really don’t think that would be a bad trade for either team I think that Philadelphia would get a guy who is more G potentially more gifted offensively

And can blossom into a very good forward for them and then the Sabres get somebody who could be a quality fourth line player who can produce given you know lower quality I would say lower minutes and you can slot him in he has enough offensive ability to be able to

Put him in on the second power play unit and he could penalty kill so I really think that’s not a horrible trade for either team the only thing that I don’t like about that trade is lon’s age because he’s 29 you know we’ve seen in sports as you hit 30 unless you’re a

Freak like you know some of the best players in the NHL currently you really don’t get better after 30 like that is when you start your Decline and that is the thing that kind of um that is the thing that kind of makes me hesitate in terms of that let’s see I

Think UPL is the real deal it’s a shame we are wasting his great season uh I do too I said it uh I don’t know if I tweeted it or if I said it on a video but I thought UPL was a poor man’s um lenus hmark big lanky uh moves well very

Athletic but UPL or uh not UPL lius olar was a little bit more injury-prone than uh than UPL was in his in his Seasons he did show very very well if you look at his stats in Buffalo like he was a he was a pretty quality

Goenda we’ve had um you know the last few seasons that’s for sure or put up better numbers in the goalies we’ve had in the last few seasons and I think think that if the Sabers would have kept him and signed him last year I I believe

That a couple more of those games he would have been able to steal for the Sabres and the Sabres would have been in the playoffs but um yeah that’s kind of I I think UPL has been very very good uh Ellis and decoach Marty Wilford need to be replaced but

Will Adams do that or will he say the team regress this season which is normal for a young team I agree I think that that if Adams refuses to replace his assistant coaches that he also needs to go because I don’t think the whole problem is Adams I really don’t he’s

Shown that he can have an uptempo team and play very well offensively he’s shown that he can switch up strategies and have the team play a little bit better defensively they are better defensively this year by quite a bit than they were last year um so I don’t

Necessarily think it is all on Adams however if he’s refusing to get rid of either of his two assistant coaches that you need to replace him also because what is going on currently is not working and you can’t have I don’t think you can have 14 years of no playoffs

This is by far the longest stretch in NHL history I think the last uh the longest next longest stretch is like nine years so the Sabres are blowing that out of the water in a league where half the teams get into the playoffs that’s pretty pretty pathetic realistically would like a player that

Could produce but also be close to even with the plus minus category as flawed as the plus minus category is I do agree if you look at the the Sabers that have been performing the best so far this season their plus minus is not bad that means they’re they’re good 200 foot

Players right they don’t they’re able to play in their own Zone as well as you know play offensively and that’s kind of sorry my phone keeps going off that’s kind of um you know more of what the Sabers need obviously the more goals you score the more pluses you’re going to

Get and right now the entire team is minus like 14 goals or something to that effect but um yeah I you know I would I would anything to help this team get over the hump and get into the playoffs realistically I don’t think any player should be not on the table for the

Buffalo Sabers to trade I think anyone and anything and everyone should be on the table for the Sabers to make this team better I know Olson wants out but the team would possibly trade for him anything other than future considerations can’t imagine anyone jumping to get him I think Olson just

Based on past production can get you at least a late round draft draft pick I really do um do I think he’s going to get more than like maybe a sixth or seventh I mean maybe you can sell somebody on a fifth but other than that

I don’t see more than the Sabers getting any more than that that’s why I said that realistically their two best names that they’re they they could potentially trade that would make sense would be either Casey midat or Payton Krabs and I would keep Casey midat simply because he show that he can

Score at a very strong rate in the NHL something that Payton Krabs although he hasn’t given the opportunity um hasn’t shown H as much flash as as Casey middle said again and do I think he’ll be a good player in the future I do I think Casey midd stat will

Be or or pton Krebs if given a change of scenery and given maybe some more opportunity I I do he I have seen enough that it makes me believe that he could potentially be you know like a 40 to 50 point guy in the NHL I believe that

Again pure playmaker you put him with a couple goal scores he’s probably going to produce but yeah it’s uh here olim was decent last year but now he’s basically useless uh the fall off of so many of these guys this year is insane that is very true I

Think a lot of it has to the falloff has to do with the system that the Sabers are currently playing they’re playing instead a wide open game they’re playing a more defensive system so it has kind of um you know reigned back a lot of the guys who produced super super well

Offensively last year and I think that was probably the downfall of this season I think the Sabers needed to just Embrace their identity of being just a highflying we’re going to beat a 65 type of team and they didn’t do that they tried to you know from what I heard the

Analytics department or whatever was saying that this team would be a lot better if they were a more defensive team and we’ve seen that that wasn’t true they’re actually a far far worse team when they’re not allowed to Freewheel and use the incredible amount of skill that a lot of these guys have

Again that’s the showing how much the team misses Pekka uh I thought he was in line for a promotion to the NHL um I really do I would have probably kept him over a guy like Matt Ellis but you know I’m not the head coach or the GM

So you know what do I know right I’m just a goofy dude talking on the internet talking talking to other fans on the internet about the team that we love right that’s more or less what this is um yeah but again I’m not I’m not trading Casey middlet unless it’s for something

Incredibly good and I would probably start shopping Payton Krabs because I think that he can actually bring you a quality I think it could be a good two-way trade you’re going to give K or you’re going to give pton Krabs a little bit potentially give him a little bit

More opportunity and you’re going to bring in somebody who can maybe play the role that you need him to play a little bit better than Payton Krebs is in the role that he’s currently in on that fourth line all right we have well we talked about the bills for about 12 or 13

Minutes and then we’ve seen that we can talk about the Sabers for a lot longer and another thing that I wanted to get to every time I see metal Bal it also gets me mad I agree every time I see him drawing up a power play

Or a play it drives me up a wall because I know it’s likely not going to work um but we’ve talked about the Sabers for a little bit and uh before I get up out of here another one of the things that I wanted to talk about is something that I

Very big uh UB Bulls football and basketball person the UB Bulls basketball team this year is horrible so much worse than I thought they were going to be however the last couple games they did show a little bit of promise and after the Lance lipold era

He left the the uast was able to bring in a guy who is I guess highly regarded in Maurice Lingus and I I gotta tell you this is going to be my Victory lap okay we’re going to finally talk about the new head coach and Pete limo and limo was hired of

Course after Maurice linguis departed to go to Alabama to join deor staff and he’s not going to be a defensive coordinator he’s not even going to I think he’s a co-defensive coordinator and a and a DBS coach in Alabama so this is my Victory lap okay I

Told my buddy mark that I was going to take this Victory lap at some point he said I have earned it because I predicted this when they hired him a couple years ago and that is he wasn’t ready he was a young guy who had never been a full-time coordin not even had

Never even been a full-time coordinator at the division one level like he was a co-defensive coordinator for like three months at M I think before UB hired him and it just there wasn’t enough experience there that would make me excited and I told a lot of people that

And I pretty much told anybody that would listen that it was going to be uh likely a mistake and that I hoped I was wrong however I turned out to be very right and that was that Maurice linguist did not look ready in any way shape or form

To be the head of a football program at the division one level he was a great recruiter a fantastic recruiter fantastic recruiter at the University at Buffalo he had in his three seasons he had two of the highest recruiting classes that UB has ever seen and that is something

That someone like me can get very very excited about it can get me all in on another season for this for this UB team um great discussion on the Sabers thank you very much I appreciate it um but it can get me all in on

The uh you know on on the team again and with the transfer portal you know every season it can be something vastly different right however he was never able to put it in play and you saw it game after game and I cautioned a lot of people

When I watched when I watched this team he had a lot of holdovers in his first year his second year was more of his team and he did pretty well his second year I think a lot of breaks went his way in order for them to go seven and

Six and get to a bowl game and win the bowl game that is a fantastic accomplishment however his teams never seemed to do good in large stretches right and his his game management was always just very very questionable I think that is a big thing that I did not like about

Mo linguist is that his game management was usually very piss poor and you know it it showed they were three and N they you know the first season they were 4- eight this year they’re three and N like they went backwards they went backwards quite a

Bit and he was never able to get his recruiting prowess to turn into quality wins for UB I mean we’re talking two straight years of losing to an FCS school and this year they lost handily right they lost handily says I don’t really pay attention to college football

But I look at the UB Bulls throughout the season they’re always bad will they actually be good this season this season they likely will not don’t have high expectations for this season um and I say that because Pete LMO is coming in who they just hired that’s what was

Going to talk about Pete limbo just came in and he is a very good a very quality head coach right he’s a very very solid head football coach he’s got over 30 years of experience sorry I just spit forward he’s got over 30 years of coaching experience dating all the way back to

1992 where he was a grad assistant and he’s had a very he’s got a very good resume in terms of being a head coach and that’s why I know it’s not the the sexy hire that a lot of people wanted for the University at Buffalo they

Wanted the young upand Comer to come in here and and do things big and flashy and and that’s not that looks like it’s not going to be Pete limo at all however something he does seem to excel at as doing more with less he was an FCS coach

Um for a number of years and his overall head coaching record is 112 and 65 and uh he had a very solid record in the Mac I think he was 33 and 29 in the Mid-American Conference at Ball State so I mean he had three of his Five Seasons

At Ball State he was bow eligible right he had two Good Seasons he had a nine and4 season a 10 and three season two okay Seasons a six and six and a five and seven season and one Bad season that looked like it ended up costing him his

Job at three and nine but I think he’s going to provide the perfect amount of experience and youthfulness because he’s not that much of an I want say he’s not a super Old Coach he’s a very confident coach he appears like he’s going to be a pretty

Good recruiter as well I’ve heard from a lot of uh South Carolina fans who have commented and said that he is going to be a very very good uh recruiter for this uh UB program he sound good for the job if he can do more with less this is very true

And he’s actually alluded to that he wants to expand on what the program like expand the reach of the program but he also understands kind of like I said at the FCS level you have to do more with less and he has a fantastic FCS record

And then he was in the mid- American Conference as a head coach at Ball State so he understands what the league is he understands the parody of the league he’s had very quality results already in this league so I do expect maybe uh bump start but I expect him to be able to

Turn the ship around and get the UB football program back in the right direction and more in the direction of like the Lance lipold than we than more so than we saw under mool Lingus because Lingus just uh you know he wasn’t it Mar commented the Lingus area is best summed

Up by the word inconsistency inconsistent on the field revolving doors of Staff members particular LLY OC and DC and a whole lot of hype with no delivery that is probably as true a statement as you can say with this University at Buffalo program um under

The under mingist he had a ton of hype and I said this too he seemed like a very rah rah guy you know very rah rah all Flash no substance and I’ve said that for three seasons and every season I’ve come back and I you know he’s

Recruit Ed well and I thought to myself maybe this year is different and every season it wasn’t different every season they’ve had huge struggles and that was that for me he just wasn’t he wasn’t necessarily my cup of of tea as a head coach I want less flash more

Substance right I don’t care how flash you are if you win if you win I really realistically nothing else matters right so hopefully Pete LMO can come in here and write the ship and get these guys back to where we saw that this program could go right under Lance lipold he took this

Program to Heights that we here in Buffalo if you ever followed this team never thought possible however he was able to help them get an indoor facility built he was able to help them secure funding I believe it was either I don’t know if it

Was him or if it was Mingus but I know that there were plans for a weight room I believe under lipold they were finally able to start getting that done and it’s going to be connected to the Fieldhouse and hopefully that I mean uh uh lipold got the locker rooms redone everything

Is is First Rate high quality division one standards at UB currently and hopefully Pete LMO can catapult off of that and continue to build and hopefully hopefully he talked about expanding UB and their reach and their their footprint and things like that hopefully he can get some Stadium

Renovations done for this UB Bulls team we desperately desperately need a new scoreboard and they desperately need to get the track out of that field and make it a more uh engaging atmosphere fear for any UB football fans overall though I think that it was a quality higher oh one more comment

Here if limbo can convince the university and its donors to get us a new scoreboard then he will reach legendary status in my eyes 100% agree if we can somehow get a new scoreboard that alone will make LMO a hero for any UB fans as we have suffered

With probably the worst scoreboard in all of division one sports it’s horrible and it is very evident that it is from the early 990s when that stadium is built nothing is needed more in that Stadium than a new scoreboard but I do think that LMBO is a

Quality hire at the right time for this program so I do have to give uh a a hat tip to where it belongs that is a I think it is a very good hire by allnut and hopefully it pans out on the field and buffalo can return to its

Former glory of being a Mac Contender year after year and bow eligible year after year so that we can continue to enjoy this fantastic Bulls team and hopefully he can make it a little bit more of a event to go to for the Buffalo and Western York Community but that is
