   Okay team vs top team. Florida is deep offensively and scores a crazy number of goals. Vasy had a bad night and our defense looked shambolic, with our forwards struggling to help the defense. Should be another wake up call for those optimists who think we can contend with the team we have right now.

    Look, there was nothing pretty about this game at all. We can call it an off night but I think this puts in perspective where this team is at compared to a legitimate top team in the East.

    I know JBB has probably been cooking something up but this game shows that we need depth badly on both sides of the puck. After tonight the front office needs to decide if we’re a few pieces away from actually being able to make a run this year or save the little assets we have if we decide it’s not.

    I mean, some REAL bad puck luck for the first few, but holy shit we just rolled over entirely after that. Pretty inexcusable to go from the best game all season to the absolute worst.

    Listen, did today suck? Absolutely. An absolute nightmare. No redeeming qualities.

    But before this six game stretch coming back from the break I thought we needed 3/6 and we got that. The schedule gets a lot easier on paper from this point out, the only playoff team we play in our next 9 is Philly twice. A huge opportunity coming up to put this game behind us and grab some more points. Hopefully this kicks them in the ass a little and they can handle business coming up.

    Funny how hockey can go. Go up within a minute and don’t score again until garbage time while giving up 9 unanswered. The team blew its load the last two games. Bad defense in the slot, Vasy looking real rough, and our shots were straight at the goalie every time. Sometimes everything goes bad at once and this is one of those games, and it didn’t help that the team showed zero effort after the first

    Okay so the final score was ugly but this game wasn’t really as bad as the final score indicated. Some bad defensive play blew the lead, got a bit shafted on the interference call, Vasy imploded and it snowballed.

    This was a good measuring stick game though and it shows us we aren’t there yet. Need to do some tweaking of the roster at the deadline and the effort level from our stars needs to be a heck of a lot better. They can’t be this bad defensively because if they aren’t scoring they are actively hurting the team. Coop needs to sit point and stammer down and tell them to figure it out

    Well, was there live and that was probably the worst thing I’ve ever sat through, it just felt like they weren’t playing. No lucky bounces, passing was terrible, defense was even worse. It was just awful. The bright note though, all the Cat fans shouting, “we want 10!,” haha! You suck!(😭) Pretty sure that kid they showed as the player of the week from the Lightning High School League could have scored 10 tonight.

    Every team gets their ass whipped a few times each season. Usually a product of bad luck, bounces and the other team executing 100%. No reason to dwell on a game like this.
